Kings College Hospital at Camberwell now has it's own little bus^H^H^H

smoking shelter in a corner of the grounds which is definitely a lot more

reasonable than just forcing people to stand around near the entrance...

Whether or not you smoke (or agree with smoking), it's not going away any

time soon, so catering *properly* for smokers is much more sensible than

just leaving people to their own devices (which ends up with the clump of

people as short a distance from the entrance to their building as they can

get away with).

Why should they be catered for? Why help them to continue their habit? You

are doing them no favours. They are seriously self-harming, in fact slowly

committing suicide, but since euthanasia is illegal and people also try to

prevent suicide, even though it is not illegal, it seems to me smoking is in

that category and should be made as difficult as possible.

Would you give a person who cuts themself a knife to do it, or a suicidal

person a load of pills to OD on? So why give smoking areas, when they could

just ban it on hospital grounds altogether.

We have to get tough on them.

You sick a-hole, if a smoker is already DYING of cancer -- maybe dead in a

few days! -- what good will it do to take away little relief of smoking

(preferably cannabis)????

Even condemned criminals get last cigerette I thought!

Appalling, and there is also the fact that it most likely drifts out of the

room, I would bet you can't walk past without getting a huge lungful, so

allowing it indoors would be affecting other patients and staff. These

people should be allowed to die with some dignity and helping them to die

quicker by helping them to remain as addicts is surely no dignity at all.

I'd call that assisted suicide.

A few might get better if they were not smoking, the doctors are not always

right about cancer being incurable.

Yeah, kick out ALL NURSES AND DOCTORS AND STAFF WHO SMOKE to help stress --

who needs them in hospital? Let the disgusting smoke-addict patients drop

dead if they don't like it. That's tough. Make plenty of room for all the

women considering emergency contraception that Leslie gone lock up if we

don't lock her up first in the Ve*an Nuthouse.

Doctors are rarely foolish enough to smoke anyway, although quite a few nurses do, and it is a fact that smoking does not help anyone with stress, for a start it can raise the smoker's heart rate by about 20 beats per minute, so tell me expert Edith how does a stimulant like nicotine help stress? It's one of the myths about smoking that doctors will tell you is a complete lie. Stress and smoking together are a bad combination and result in heart attacks, the more stressed the person is the worse it is to smoke!

I know that when I get forced to breathe second hand smoke, it produces heart palpitations for me because I am highly sensitive to it, it clearly causes stress! I'm not the only person like this.

I'm not getting into the abortion issue again.

Fortunately I am in the majority on this one. Most people hate cigarette

smoke, even if non-smokers don't all get a severe reaction to it. Why are

you sticking up for offensive prats? Are you one? I'd rather stick up for

the victims such as the children of smokers, who are abused by being forced

to breathe it.

Not many people would agree that smoking is harmless,

So at least keep it away from public places, like off the streets, and out

of our faces.

Yes, I agree Lesley. I think smoking should be banned in public places like it's just been done in NYC. Then they can smoke in their own homes to their hearts content and rot their own lungs and not other peoples.

You could refuse absolutely to go to anywhere where people will be smoking. I tend to these days. I don't compromise any more. It's only fair that you should have the right to avoid smoke! Or just move away in disgust when they do smoke. Is this as the Mayoress that you are forced to go to these functions? At least you have the right to complain politely!

I don't smoke & have never smoked but I also stick up for these people you

are calling offensive prats. I don't call them that, tho there are some on

these lists I would. And it makes me feel so much better that you're

sticking up for me as an ex-child of a smoker.

Oh really Doctor?

Please point me to this interesting research into the last moments of the

condemned where smokers refused...

Also, I think you meant " before being shot " ...

Ok, I'm not welcome in the House of Low Ability...

Ask smokers on this list or any smoker if they were condemned to death and

had about ten minutes to live what would be their last request.

TWO cigarettes. I'd get through them both, too.

And I haven't smoked for over seven years.

I've always said that if the dread news comes then I'll take up

smoking again. And cannabis. I'd probably eat too much, too. Might

as well go out happy!

I gave up smoking about 12 yrs ago and it wouldn't be something I would

want any more, cannabis in a smokless form, not sure about as I've not had

it that way before.

In a last request I would protest innocence & promote veganism.

I do not want anyone to die in pain, I would however prioritise the innocent victims of second-hand smoke for NHS help over those whose illness is self-inflicted.

I'm not a friend of any alleged fascist or ex-fascist, we were merely acquaintances on email. I have not had any contact with the person we both know you are referring to for almost two years, and I have no wish or reason to contact this person. Drop it Edith. If someone ate meat a year or two ago, would you keep on about it now and call them still a murderer? I doubt it.

I hope Michael when he returns will take action over some of your comments as it's going over old ground and this is his nice list!

Leslie just wants me banned so she can tell lies without being contradicted

even though I defended her from a life-time ban on the *other* list...

That is Leslie, who passed on personal details of a vegan anti-fascist on

this list to a notorious *former* fascist and now she is trying to justify

herself!
