Re:

Oh the bay leaf...

I waited tables for years and years. I was a very good waitress, and I would

end up with double and sometimes triple sections because I could handle it.

During a U of M football post game Saturday rush, I served some man a bowl of

soup. He got the bay leaf in it, and started to chew me out. I said 'Did you

know, that is considered a sign of luck to get the bay leaf in your food?'

and he said 'Really?' and I said 'Really!'

He even left me a good tip. I totally made it up on the spot. Now it is

family legend. He's probably telling his kids the same thing. I wasn't trying

to

be evil, but for goodness sake it was just a bay leaf...and I was busy. Amy

I'm pretty useless for this type of thing, but I'm so sorry that you and your

children are having to go through this. It's too bad he doesn't have to come up

with loads of information defending his idea of what the kids should eat. It

doesn't sound like he's doing anything in their best interests. I hope very much

that you find all the info you need and that you get custody of those kids. :(

vegan. We have gone to court twice and mediation once and his lawyer always

brings up the fact that our children have been raised vegan which is detrimental

Welcome Marie in South Australia! That's a nice part of the country you're

in.

We spent 25 years in NSW, and we visited Adelaide, at least, several times

:)

How nice that you're considering a vegetarian lifestyle. We hope that you

find some nice ideas here and can contemplate making the change. It's not

at all as difficult as some people like to make out - and in today's

world, it's

such a good healthy and environmentally sound idea, as well as being good

for the animals.

We have lots of good recipes - devised for weight loss - in our Files,

which

you will of course find in the left-hand menu on our homepage.

Good luck, let's hear from you often, and let us know if there's anything

you

need to know.

Best, Pat (Group Co-Owner with Cindi)

Hi Georgia, and welcome to Vegetarian Slimming! Sounds like you and your husband

have a good thing going with going vegetarian and having your own garden :)

There's nothing like veggies and fruit fresh from the garden! As for you husband

eating whatever he can find uncooked, well that won't do him any harm either,

I'd suspect LOL

Have fun here!

Hi,

My name is Georgia and I'm new to the group.

I live in the San Francisco East Bay with my husband, 3 dogs, 4 cats and 3

parakeets.

I grow most of our vegetables and am always looking for new ideas on how to

use them fresh or how to preserve them.

(I usually grow more than we or our neighbors can eat.)

I am 63 years old and have been trying the vegetarian style of cooking and

eating for about three months.

My husband is also eating s a vegetarian (he likes the idea of going

vegetarian,

besides if he doesn't eat what I cook and eat he eats whatever he can find

that doesn't need cooking!)

I am hoping to get some good advice as well as some yummy recipes!

I have a few recipes I will share, but I have to look carefully to be sure

they are not full of fat and/or calories!
