just looking for input.

I'm working with a 19yo male w/ acute onset of generalized anxiety. In

addition to acupuncture and TCM, I think he could also benefit from

having/learning to use a biofeedback unit at home. There are several options

out there and I'm wondering if anyone has actual clinical experience

incorporating this type of therapy for patient's at-home self-care and have

found a specific machine/unit/cd program/guided meditation to be

particularly effective over others that they would recommend?

check out " Thought Technology " and " Alpha Stim " . They are the most widely used

by psychologists.

Hi Joy. Depression and anxiety can have such a complicated picture and history.

Sometimes things like off the shelf biofeedback devices and entrainment programs

can help, but are more useful when chosen by the person themselves. Did he

request this?

e.g. ; 19 yrs. old. Is he living by himself or with family? dreams, wants,

ambition, history...

This is within scope of practice, to befriend and counsel and get to the root.

Not that you aren't! Everybody is a big ocean, and there's reasons for things,

even just biological.

Also kinetic testing with different musical notes can reveal a pallete of

sounds that are beneficial to someone. Finding them and composing a tape for

them, or showing them the notes to play around with at home on a synth or other

instrument,  can be fun and useful too. Know what I mean?

Herbs, acup, talking. Playing. Feeling. It isn't easy growing up these days,

just gets tougher, I think. I apologize if this is too simpleminded.
