Guest guest Report post Posted March 21, 2007 This is totally off the cuff, but does anybody have an opinion as to the relationship of the kidney channel and the root of the tongue in relation to sleep apnea? It might previde a basis for treatments based on kidney vacuity patterns... Guest guest Report post Posted March 22, 2007 I'll correct myself here. Sleep Apnea is the absence of breathing during sleeping. Headaches on awakening can be associated with it. Still her description doesn't fit the usual profile as you indicate. Let's see what happens at her tests next week. Guest guest Report post Posted December 30, 2007 For starters, do not lie flat on your back when you sleep. Always try to sleep on your side, take at least 6 grams of Vit C per day to stop the swelling in your airways. Do not drink alcohol because it causes the sinuses and throat area to become swollen which in turn causes you to have a problem breathing when you sleep. jlk , " corndoggirl1977 " <crystalandbrock wrote: > > Is there anything I can do for this other than surgery and a machine? > I am only 30, but have pretty severe sleep apnea. Guest guest Report post Posted December 30, 2007 I also have severe sleep apnea. I have endured 23 sleep studies in 4 countries. I got very lucky and found a Chiropractor who went to China and studied a new technology called ZHT. Although the exercises he gave me seems very silly at the time, I no longer use the C_PAP machine and my sleep apnea seems to be gone. It only cost $500 and I am delighted to be rid of the machine after over 10 years.
Guest guest Report post Posted December 30, 2007 Hi..My wife has the same problem. This is going to sound crazy but you might want to try using what they call a Neti Pot for the sinuses. My wife used it and she doesn't snore as bad, sometimes not at all and I don't snore anymore. It might not work with you but it is worth a try. You can use a sport water bottle instead of buying a Neti pot but just put about a 2" hole on one side so you can fill it and get water in without removing the cap. I used this until my Rhino Horn came in the mail.. http://tinyurl.com/ypde8x Cheers..Keithmj http://www.keithmj.com/scan.html http://www.keithmj.com/toilet.html

Guest guest Report post Posted December 31, 2007 > Can you give us more details? > Well, I have been tired for literally about 15 years! I never knew I snored until a couple year ago, when I started gaining weight when I was pregnant, etc. I have SEVERE stress due to having an autistic son and having lots of deaths in our family in the last few years. I am just a nervous wreck all the time and feel like I'm about to tucker out. I started waking up a few months ago gasping for breath. I went in for a sleep study and they said I was going 8 to 30 seconds at a time without breathing and I did this over 100 times in the night. I never sleep well and haven't slept through the night in years. My son still gets up in the night sometimes. I am doing sequential homeopathy and my homeopath gave me a dropper for it, but that hasn't helped. I am getting a mask, but I am clostrophobic and I am 99.9% sure I won't be able to sleep with that thing. I has a REAL hard time when I did my sleep study and only slept 2 hours that night with it on. I really am desperate. I don't know what to do and can't find any natural alternatives. I have so many other health problems too...PCOS, irregular heartbeat (it's getting worse), no energy, hypoglycemia, haven't been able to breathe out of my nose without OTC nose sprays since April (deviated septum and nasal polyp). I am just about to throw in the towel. I think it would be easier. Thanks, Crystal
Guest guest Report post Posted December 31, 2007 Crystal, High dose Vitamin C should clear up those nose polyps. Go get some now! Also, you might want to try another way of sleeping. Maybe the best place is not on a flat bed. I caught myself having those sleep apnea episodes after I began having nightmares that caused me to get up and breath again. Now I sleep in a lazy boy so that I can always have my head propped up. I don't suffer from nose polyps or anything but I do take lots of Vitamin C. Also a good B vitamin calms the nerves along with fish oil, Gamma E, Magnesium. jlk
Guest guest Report post Posted December 31, 2007 Hmmm boy you have an armful....I have sleep apnea too---am very overweight--so for me thats the first place. But I was thinking I bet doing breathing exercises while awake would be helpful---it gets the muscles more able to accomodate deep regular breathing. Also I have come across this---many people swear by it to expand lung and oxygen capcity--and it isn't expensive. http://www.expand-a-lung.com/?crtag=1 Good Luck!!! Guest guest Report post Posted December 31, 2007 my suggestion is bite a cloth towel between your cannine teeth at one corner of your mouth , so you keep your mouth open during night. secondly keep a fan focussing air in to your face so you will be getting plenty of air. it is actually a breathing nerve signal failiure during sleep .extreme slow down of breathing activity. try rajatha bhasma with aloevera to tone up your system. Guest guest Report post Posted April 9, 2008 Hi Beth, curiously I have had one case of serious sleep apnea resolve, whilst I had several cases of snoring which did not respond to therapy. I am not so clear with snoring, and I have tried to treat it as stomach heat damp heat, liver depression,.., without much success. Does anyone have better experiences? The one case of apnea that I treated actually came in for depression. He's an intelligent but sensitive school director who just couldn't do his job anymore. He also had digestive issues, was obese, and felt very tired every day. I treated him for liver-spleen disharmony with acu and herbs. His mood improved significantly. He also went to a sleep laboratory after which they gave him such a mouthpiece that you wear while sleeping. Hard to sleep with, and he stopped wearing it after some time. Still, his apnea is so much better now. I gave him variations of xiao yao san and gan mai da zao tang. best, Tom. Hes not yet a patient so I dont have any diagnostic information but was wondering if anyone has had any success (or unsuccessfull) cases treating this phenomenon.? I use mostly acupuncture, few herbs, but would be interested to hear both if they would be helpful.? I told the man I would ask around and see what kind of results some of my collegues had. The body will heal a ruptured disc as it will a host of things, such as a 30% displacement fracture, but is this in the best interests of the patient? Well, if the treatment is worse than the problem itself, then my answer is yes - or find another practitioner. The common cold will usually run it's course in a week, but shouldn't the caring physicial offer proper herbs, acupuncture and therapy to reduce that time? The same is true of disc prolapse. The most severe of which may be made stable in as little as 6 weeks. Why wait a year, especially if there is nerve compression and resultant segmental functional distortion? The body tends to make survival decisions, not optimum health decisions. Scar tissue can be opressive and retard function. If it can be prevented or minimized with proper care, why shouldn't this be done? It is my opinion, but I believe this is why I bother with education and improving my skills - that is, to offer many levels of care to those in need.
