[sSRI-Research] Zoloft: Author questions verdict that

sentenced Christopher Pittman

There has been a strange silence from the media in regard to the

Zoloft defense in the Christopher Pittman case. There are no articles

from people stating that " Zoloft Saved My Life " . In fact, the

response has been just the opposite. Several editorials in newspapers

have stated that our nation's children are way over medicated. Here

is an article from a Judith Lederman who talks about the problems her

child had on Zoloft

**2. JUDITH LEDERMAN, co-author of " The Ups & Downs of Raising a

Bipolar Child, " questions the verdict that sentenced 15-year-old

Christopher Pittman for murdering his parents: " Zoloft and other

anti-depressants have had some terrible mood-altering side effects. No

psychotropic medications should be taken by children unless a child

and adolescent psychiatrist is monitoring their use closely. "

Lederman's son was diagnosed with a mental illness at the age of eight

and her book details how certain medications, particularly stimulants

and/or anti-depressants, can cause severe rages, depression and other

side effects. Lederman: judysl Phone: +1-914-472-9072 (2/17/05)
