Hi Chris, nice to see you back. I still love the Rose and Pumpkin baskets. Almost a shame to that I'm giving them as gifts to the kids. The pumpkin soap is wonderful smelling. Actually everything is wonderful smelling. I made a facial spray out of some of the rose hydrosol. Can I add lavender hydrosol to it to make it a rose/lavender spray??? Also can I add essential oils to the hydrosol, something like lavender or vanilla or ??. Or will it ruin it? What other things can I do with hydrosols? Guest guest
Janet asked: " Ok, does anyone have a lotion recipe that they can share and explain. Have never done any and Mother has expressed an interest in a non-greasy rose lotion. " I use these two recipes as my basic guidelines when it comes to lotions. Beauty Recipes Traditional cold cream: This is an all-purpose cream that can be used to cleanse and soothe the skin. Makes 7 oz. 52 oz white beeswax (more for a stiffer cream, less for a softer lotion) 1/2 cup almond oil 1/2 teaspoon borax 1/4 cup rosewater 1.} Place the beeswax in a double boiler and add the almond oil. Melt the wax over low heat, stirring constantly to combine the ingredients. 2.} Take off the heat and dissolve the borax in the rosewater and slowly pour it into the melted wax and oil, whisking constantly. 3.} It will quickly turn milky and thicken, continue whisking while it cools. When it reaches thick pouring consistency, pour into glass jars or china pots. Notes: Add dried herbal ingredients for an exfoliating twist. Use mini wax dipped moisture beads for use as an after bath cream (wax melts on the skin and releases the shea inside). Up the wax and roll into rose body scrubbers. Rose Scented Moisture Cream: Makes about 3/4 cup 1/2 cup rosewater 1/2 tsp. glycerin 2 tablespoons witch hazel 1/4 tsp. borax 2 tbsp. emulsifying wax or white beeswax 1 tsp. lanolin 2 tbsp. almond oil 2 drops rose oil Gently heat the rosewater, glycerin, witch hazel and borax in a saucepan until the borax has dissolved. In a double boiler, melt the wax, lanolin and almond oil over a gentle heat. slowly add the rosewater mixture to the oil mixture, whisking as you do so. It will quickly turn milky and thicken. Take off the heat and continue to whisk as it cools and then add the rose oil. Pour into glass pots or jars. All of my other recipes are just variations off of these. The borax is an emulsifier. I also usually add some sort of preservative, depending on who is getting the cream, either GSE or a chemical preservative. For the less greasy feel, using the second recipe seems to work better. I also like to use shea butter or jojoba in my lotions (usually instead of almond), mainly because I think they have a better feel to them. Guest guest
Hello, I introduced myself a while ago, but this is my first real post. I use EOs at home (air/massage) but am still a beginner, so am experimenting mostly, reading some books and trying combinations. I wonder if there're some EOs that are good for use during fasting for bathing, air, or massage. (I fast rarely, it's connected to my yoga practice) and fasting on water and juice only gives some undesirable side effects esp on second day, like headache, muscular pain etc. TIA!Manuela from Italy -- Namaste, Manuela Manuela Federella " Le vent souffle... la montagne demeure "

Guest guest
Virgin Coconut oil is made with the first pressing of the nut. It smells like coconut and is pure. It is solid. It is the best pressing of course. Fractionated is liquid and is a very light, odorless, colorless oil that is great as a carrier for eo's. It penetrates the skin quickly and has a non greasy feel & it doesn't stain. Makes a good massage oil. It is useful in lotion, creams, salts, bath oils, soap, etc... Good for all skin types too. Has a long shelf life. I like to use it in combonation with some of the heavier more nutrient oils to lighten them up. Guest guest
Hello I have sent an email to CPSC and they have already responded. Below is their response. If interested I can forward the attachement as well… I am looking for all sizes. I would like spray bottles but I can store some products in other bottles-I have been saving my old cleaning containers so I could make samples for friends and family J So let me know what kind and how much and we could take it from there J I will also keep my eye on ebay. I never thought of that one J Blessings Rachel CPSC’s response: A household cleaners may be subject to the labeling requirements of the Federal Hazardous Substances Act if 1) it presents one of the hazards listed in the act, such as toxicity, corrosivity, flammability, and 2) it can cause substantial injury or illness as a result of reasonably foreseeable handling or use, including reasonably foreseeable ingestion by children. For your convenience, I have a attached a summary of the requirements of the act. You can also find additional information on the CPSC website under the Business icon - Regulations for Business. In addition, if the cleaner makes a pesticidal claim, it is subject to the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act which EPA administers. chrisziggy [chrisziggy] Tuesday, July 09, 2002 6:23 PM RE: Question Hi Rachel ☺ I would think you could call the Consumer Products Safety Commission to find out for sure what exactly the rules and regulations are, or at least they can point you in the direction of who you'd need to call to find out ☺ CPSC Consumer Hotline: (800) 638-2772 I hope that helps ... and if you find out anything interesting … please, let us know! :-D OH! Guest guest
Hi Gaye, #1) does this occur all the time with your son or only when he gets out of a tub of hot water? #2) The arm pit area has many lymph nodules. You will notice scents change depending on what you happen to eat or drink within a certain specified time frame. For instance, I can drink a cup of coffee and will smell it approx. half an hour later coming from under my left arm predominantly. Sweat from the glands under the arms, in the groin area and breast area (in women) and facial beard area in men will have a more profound scent due to the fact that proteins and other chemicals get excreted from these glands where-as the more common sweat glands usually only get rid of water and salts. So you will notice the smell more from these areas. Diet and cleansing will help to eliminate most of the odors. Toxins in toxins out. Best to get rid of the toxins and quit putting them in. #3) Too much perspiration is a relative thing. Some people do not perspire hardly at all no matter how hot it is or humid. Others perspire at the drop of a hat. Some people perspire so much they are constantly wet. My wife perspires so much from the palms of her hands that she literally leaves puddles of water but only when she is nervous or stressed. Perspiration is the bodies way of getting rid of excess water, toxins, etc. and can and will go into overworked mode if the kidneys are not functioning properly. It is possible that your husbands kidneys may not be functioning very well. They may be congested. Kidney stones, too much mucus, whatever is causing it. You might try (if he is willing) doing a bowel cleanse and the kidney/bladder cleanse to see if that helps. Otherwise, he may just be one of those people who just downright sweats alot!!! HTH, Don Quai - gayekyc1 herbal remedies Friday, July 11, 2003 3:32 AM [herbal remedies] Question I have two no three questions concerning perspiration. May soundcrazy...First what causes a person to perspire a LOT?? Immediately after gettingout of the tub...deodorants (even crystal stones) and anti-perspirantsdo not work...my son has this problem, but only under his arms, hedoesn't really perspire all over...like when you get hot.Second, what causes a person's perspiration to make a marked change inscent? From musky to bitter-almost lemony scent...I have this...Third, My husband perspires a lot also, but it is from his head tofeet...his clothes are heavy from the weight of the water...He doesdrink LOTS of water to replace this, and fruits for potassium. It isfrom the heat, but would this be considered as too much perspiration? Thanks, GayeCheerfulness and contentment are great beautifiers and are famouspreservers of youthful looks.~Charles Dickens~Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Guest guest
Well Jacqui, My opinion of the 'Eat for your blood type' diet is that it is just a Western version of the East Indian Ayurveda. It is okay for helping to bring ones body back into balance but will not necessarily heal anything. It is also not meant to be long term. What does your family eat? Do you eat pastas? Breads? Nuts? Grains? Soy products? Any processed food? How about dairy? Eggs? What do you drink? Sodas? Coffee? Teas? How is your water? Hard, soft, chlorinated, flouridated? Do you eat lots of fresh fruits? Fresh vegetables? Do you juice any fruits or vegetables? What were your diets like before? How much stress are you and other family members under? Personally, it sounds more to me like you and your family need to do some cleansing of your bowels, kidneys, liver and whole bodies. There are some excellent cleanses in the files that will do just that. They will not only cleanse but will also nourish and bring those systems back into a state of well being. Of course you will have to seriously modify your diets if you already haven't. Your bodies are too acidic, which is why the candida overgrowth. We really need you to go into much more detail so we will know how to help you help yourselves to a better and healthier life. By the way, this is also my opinion too, but I would suggest that instead of playing around with the eat right for your blood type that you go and find a credible Ayurvedic practitioner. Ayurveda has been around for near 4000 years and they have most of the bugs worked out of their system. The Eat Right For Your Blood Type Diet has only been around for ???? a decade or so!!! And yes, finances are always an issue any time it comes to healing our bodies. We either pay now or we pay later. Either way we still pay. It is just a matter of us being able to enjoy life or letting the medicos enjoy life. I'll pay the farmer every time. HTH, Don Quai PS -- Please do give us more info. Guest guest
One more thing to add, not asked here, I am nursing my youngest so I am leery of doing a cleanse for fear she will get some of what I dump. What does your family eat? Do you eat pastas? We eat pasta occasionally, couple times a month maybe. Breads? I am sensitive to yeast so I don't eat bread but every once in a while, my children, 8, 6, and 2 as well as my husband do eat it more often, one or two slices a day or less. Nuts? We eat some nuts, almond, cashews. We do eat nut butter, peanut, almond. Grains? Mostly oats and rice, some spelt and sometimes wheat Soy products? None. Any processed food? Occasionally. most of the time I cook from scratch. I do use canned organic tomatoes sauce etc. How about dairy? Only fresh raw milk , from our own goats. Eggs? Usually only in a recipe rarely fried or boiled etc. We do have them fresh from our backyard though. What do you drink? Mostly well water. Sodas? NO!!! Coffee? husband did but not now. Teas? Some iced Green tea once in awhile How is your water? Hard, soft, chlorinated, flouridated? I think it would be considered hard. not treated. Do you eat lots of fresh fruits? When in season Fresh vegetables? Not as many as we should, do use organic frozen allot in winter. Do you juice any fruits or vegetables? Not very often. What were your diets like before? We have eaten this way for many years. I was a vegan for a few years until I had my first child. Then added turkey and chicken. How much stress are you and other family members under? I tend to run high stress so thus my family is stressed too.Personally, it sounds more to me like you and your family need to do some cleansing of your bowels, kidneys, liver and whole bodies. Guest guest
- Daystar's Farm herbal remedies Thursday, July 17, 2003 3:30 AM [herbal remedies] RE: Question One more thing to add, not asked here, I am nursing my youngest so I am leery of doing a cleanse for fear she will get some of what I dump. I totally understand your position here. What does your family eat? Do you eat pastas? We eat pasta occasionally, couple times a month maybe. You would be much better not eating pasta at all unless you make it yourself from sprouted spelt flour. Otherwise, I would suggest staying away from it as pasta is very bad for creating mucus within your body. Candida just loves a good italian dinner (grin). Breads? I am sensitive to yeast so I don't eat bread but every once in a while, my children, 8, 6, and 2 as well as my husband do eat it more often, one or two slices a day or less. Here again your family would be much better off eating bread that is made with sprouted spelt flour. I am not 100% positive here, but I do believe that there have been several people on this list who have attempted to make bread from sprouted spelt. Nuts? We eat some nuts, almond, cashews. We do eat nut butter, peanut, almond. All nuts, grains, and legumes should be soaked for 12 hours and then sprouted prior to consuming. This not only gets rid of the enzyme inhibitors but will also turn an extremely potent food form into a live one that our bodies can utilize. Our bodies are not strong enough to be able to utilize the concentrated food that is stored up in nuts, grains, legumes, etc. These foods are meant for small furry critters, birds and whatnot that have very high metabolisms. We need them to be live foods, thus sprouted. Grains? Mostly oats and rice, some spelt and sometimes wheat See above answer Soy products? None. Very good. Any processed food? Occasionally. most of the time I cook from scratch. I do use canned organic tomatoes sauce etc. It is good that your prepare your meals from scratch. How about dairy? Only fresh raw milk , from our own goats. This is good as well. I do believe that goat milk is not considered to be dairy however. Eggs? Usually only in a recipe rarely fried or boiled etc. We do have them fresh from our backyard though. Good. What do you drink? Mostly well water. Sodas? NO!!! Excellent Coffee? husband did but not now. Good for him. Teas? Some iced Green tea once in awhile Herbal teas will be much better for you. Lots of caffeine in green teas. Really hard on ones adrenals and kidneys. How is your water? Hard, soft, chlorinated, flouridated? I think it would be considered hard. not treated. Might consider having your water tested just to see what is in it and how much TDS (total dissolved solids) it contains. If your water is hard, then you should consider filtering out the solids or going the distilled route. Boil your water in a stainless steel pan, if it leaves a residue of minerals in the pan then you have dissolved solids in it which are inorganic minerals and will end up plugging up your kidneys. Distilled water will help to redissolve and remove the minerals from the kidneys. I tend to run high stress so thus my family is stressed too. Probably the number one adrenal killer right here. That and caffeine. Get rid of the stress any way you can. You are poisoning your own body by being stressed and you are passing this along to your nursing child. Get rid of the stess. Take long walks. Soak up some sun. Meditate, contemplate, evaluate, do anything but get rid of the stress. Dump the newspaper, radio, and TV. I don't understand that because when I do the tape/saliva test it shows alkaline. Maybe at that point in time your saliva might be alkaline. But if you are having bouts with Candida off and on then your body is too acidic. Candida thrives in an acidic body and just loves to sequester itself in the blood where it can move all through your system. You need to kill the yeast and you do this by re-alkalinizing your body through diet, and cleansings. Fasting will help a lot as well. The 3 day fasting cleanse I posted the other day will go a long way in helping you. I do understand that you are nursing. Doc may have some other options that I am missing here or someone else may have as well. I have always been skeptical about the ERFYT diet but it was that or the elimination diet, which with young children and a scoffing husband I was having MORE stress trying to feed them. Yeah, the family is always the tough ones to convince LOL.And yes, finances are always an issue any time it comes to healing our bodies. We either pay now or we pay later. Either way we still pay. It is just a matter of us being able to enjoy life or letting the medicos enjoy life. I'll pay the farmer every time.. You really should weigh the pros and cons here. If you all are suffering from Candida overgrowth and hypothyroidism with adrenal fatigue then there needs to be some serious work done before these problems develope into life threatening ones, like adrenal failure. You seriously need to understand the source of your stress and eliminate it completely from your lives. Otherwise, there is nothing in the world that will help you to overcome the physical manifestations of dis-ease that you are experiencing. Stress causes more health problems than anything I can think of at the moment. Almost all dis-eases have their roots in steeped in stress of one sort or another. Stress is stress and is a killer if left unchecked. For the most part your diets do seem pretty good, can be improved upon sure but not too bad compared to others I have seen and heard of. But the stress can really wreak havoc. Now as you didn't go too much into the stress part I will leave this as it is. I will let you know that there are many on this list who can help you, if you so choose, to identify and work towards a stress free life. But my guess would be this is where the majority of your health problems are stemming from. But this is just a guess. You know better than I do. I do hope that this will assist you in further looking into your life and the lives of your loved ones and seeing what you may not have been able to see before. I am here, as are all the rest of us, if you need further advice, help, clarification or what have you. We are very glad that you have joined our group and do hope that we can be of assistance in helping you to help yourselves to better health. Guest guest
I also forgot to mention that parley leaf tea or parsley root tea is wonderful and specific for the adrenal glands. It will assist them in every way helping to tonify them and bring them back into good condition. Don Quai - Daystar's Farm herbal remedies Wednesday, July 16, 2003 7:35 PM [herbal remedies] question I am new here and was just wondering, what is the general consensus on the"Eat for your blood type" diet? My family, all of us, have adrenal fatigue and hypothyroid issues. Wehave candida overgrowth ( for years off and on) and MANY food and chemicalallergies. We have been advised to go on the type A diet as well as homeopathicsfor thyroid and supplements for adrenal etc.We eat relatively well, organic as much as financially possible and I makeall our food from scratch. We do eat free range chicken and turkey meat. Anyway, what do you all think? Sick and tired of being sick and tired.JacquiFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire. 2. If you are pregnant, consult your physician before using any natural remedy. 3.
