Thanks Donna,

I am not sure if I introduced myself or not. My name is Bree and I make bath and body products as well as soy candles. I love using natural ingredients in my products which is why I joined!

Hi Rebecca,

Welcome to the list! The female formula in the files section of this group is great for a host of female issues. Also, the Total Body Cleanse has done wonders for my own female issue. You can find all the info for the TBC in the files section, as well, under Doc Ian Shillington ND. In fact I would just spend some time exploring the files. There's lots of great stuff in there. When I first found them I felt just like a little kid on Christmas morning :). Have a great day!

HI Jody and welcome,

This is going to be a quick reply, but should get you started.

First thing to do is request Doc's tape, there is so much info on

there and many things on that tape will amaze you. Next start

reading some of the articles in the files Especially the one on the

Dwindling Spiral and the Frankenfood Monster.

Start eating as many fresh organic fruits and veggies a possible,

sprouted grains, nuts and seeds, and if possible, eliminate dairy,

sugar, meats and processed foods. If you cant gie up dairy or meat,

please, please please, eat only organic .

I had Hypo-thyroid and a huge list of other ailments that are now

gone as a result of reading, learning and then cleansing. There is

hope!

Hi all,

I just joined this group. I'm an aromatherapist in Belgium, Europe. I

mainly teach and do some consulations too. I'm married to Jo, an

IT-consultant, and we have 2 children: my son Noa is 5 years old, and my

daughter Maia is 2.5 months now. Originally I graduated as a vet in

1995, but quickly found out it wasn't what I wanted to do the rest of my

life. I was interested in animal behaviour, and in some book about dog

behaviour problems, I first read about Bach flower remedies and

aromatherapy. It interested me right away, and first I learned a lot

about Bach flowers. When I was pregnant with my son, I started studying

aromatherapy. I took him into class with me when he was 9 days old ;-)

After two years of studying my teacher asked me to join her to teach.

And I've been doing this ever since with much pleasure. I couldn't

imagine what my life would be without aromatherapy...

I do have a company that sells essential oils...but need to figure out how

to begin.

are you planning for personal or to sell? If you are planning to sell,

even at just craft fairs or markets you have to register your recipes

with Health Canada. There are loads of recipes out there online, what do

you plan to make first? :-)

Hi Shelly....I just want to make things for myself and possibly some things

for friends.

I would like to start with some basic things like lotions (for face, hands,

feet) maybe shampoos and not sure what else...I'm sure there will be things

I'll find out about along the way.

Do you know of some good sites that I can try.

I think the one to get lost in for a bit would be the toiletries website

http://thelibrary.luxurylane.com/recipes.htm

Chris, the listmom has some kits that may tickle your fancy (lip balms,

bath bombs etc)

Any reputable supplier that carries supplies for lotion making etc will

usually have recipe pages as well. Make sure to investigate and use

preservatives properly. There are even lotion bases that all you do is

add water (distilled) and fragrance to make a lotion or cream. I

personally prefer making lotion bars and balms as there is not water to

aid in bug growth :-)

There are plenty of soap makers here, and we're glad to share our tales

convert you from using FO's to EO's (one of my long time friends calls

me a " scent snob " cause I don't use FO's at all anymore <grinz>)

Hi Tammy,

Welcome to our list. My suggestion is to do the Total Body Cleanse to detoxify your bodies. You can find it in the file section of the website. I feel that's the first step of healing your body. Yes, you must eat organic. Go to the following website:

http://www.hacres.com/home/home.asp and read about the Hallelujah Diet. They sell some good recipe books, etc.

Good luck in making these life changes.

Herbal Remedies - intro

Hi, I am Tammy.

I would like to get off of all of the medications that we are on, as I think they make me just as sick sometimes as the diseases they are meant to treat! I feel if we can get back to a whole foods diet and lose some of this weight, we might be able to go off all of the meds.

I look forward to learning from you all and hopefully being able to add some things to this list as well!

Blessings,

Tammy

Herbal Remedies - intro

Hi, I am Tammy. I am married to Joe for 14 years and we have 2 wonderful daughters, ages 9 and 12. We live in an old farmhouse that was originally a cabin, but has been added onto lo these last 75 years or so....I LOVE our house! My husband grew up in this house, and we bought it and moved in when my father in love couldn't take care of it himself anymore (he's 81, but you'd never know it....acts 16! LOL!) He lives here with us, too, so we are just one big happy extended family!

We are a homeschooling family, and I would like to teach my dd's good nutrition and how to avoid all the chemicals found in our foods today. My dh, fil, and myself all have type 2 diabetes, and my dh and myself have quite a bit of weight to lose. I would like to get off of all of the medications that we are on, as I think they make me just as sick sometimes as the diseases they are meant to treat! I feel if we can get back to a wholefoods diet and lose some of this weight, we might be able to go off all of the meds.

I developed asthma 3 years ago, and there has been some talk that it was because of chemical exposure. I used to clean homes for a living and used some pretty harsh chemicals (bleach, for one!) and breathed them in, I'm sure. Cleaning your own home 1x a week with these chemicals is bad enough, but I was cleaning 2-3 houses a day. I now use natural cleaning methods, and feel much better for it. My dd's have some issues as well that I won't get into, but in researching, I have also decided to "go organic" when it comes to our personal care products as well. I am trying to detox our home to the best of my ability....but I need support.

I look forward to learning from you all and hopefully being able to add some things to this list as well!

There was a study done a few years ago at Univ. of Miami (I think) that

showed a before bedtime massage of chest and back reduced the incidence

and severity of asthma in children by 45%. That's significant. It

seems to be, as much of the benefit of massage does, that the relaxation

response was invoked and the immune system strengthened.

The study was with children, and massage of chest and back is hard to do

on yourself, but even if I were an adult living alone, I might try self

massage of chest, abdomen, shoulders, arms, hands, lower back and back

of neck at bedtime.

You could try it for a month and see what the results are. What have

you got to lose? Even if the asthma didn't change, it would be a

wonderful pre-sleep relaxation ritual.

Hi Sapphyre.

I'm a 43 yr old Mum from Qld, Australia. You have a beautiful name!

Welcome to the group.

Acid reflux would have something to do with not digesting your foods

properly, which would say to me that your insides need healing in some way.

ie, ulcers. The best way to heal internal ulcers is through vegetables.

Have lots of juices and cabbage juice (nice combined with carrot and apple)

has been known to cure internal ulcers in 10 days - so I've read in Maureen

Salaman's book 'Your Health Questions Answered, Naturally'

The asthma would be part of it I'd say..You're not digesting properly due to

internal damage from say, too much meat, or sugar..

Bye for now,

Gabrielle

We have quite a few Texans on board.

You asked:

<Do any of you know just offhand, a holistic

We have to be careful how we phrase things, OK?

Only licensed practitioners are allowed to

prescribe. The rest of us can get in deep doodoo

if we get into the "this for that" language.

What we can do on this list, as interested lay

people, is brainstorm general health-building

measures.

Look after the whole, and the parts will look

after themselves.

One health-building measure that just might

help both these conditions is the use of

Digestive Enzymes, both with meals and as

general blood cleansers in between.

Here is a great website on enzymes:

http://enzymestuff.com

That should be enough food for thought for a while!

Hello De Ann,

You really should do the Incurables Program; quite a steep gradient for a Newbie, but it will help you deal with the liver problems. Have a look in the files on our group's site for details.

Hello everyone;

My name is De Ann (49) and I am new to the group as well as to taking controll of my health.

Right now my 2 doctors have me on so many pills(a lot to me at least 12 pills) I have to seperate them into 5 different doses.

I was have PBC (Primary Biliary Cirrhosis). This is a rare, chronic liver diseas that stricks mostly women between the ages of 30-60. The only cure is a liver tranplant, which averages out to happen around 10 years after dx.

I don't sleep well at all. Maybe a couple of hours a night, unless I take a sleeping pill.

My liver specialist --says lose weight, then priscribes medication that has a major side effect of wieght gain. My primary doctor but me on blood pressure medication as well.

Personally I want to get off as many off these pills as possible. And I want to do this as safly as possible. That is why I join this group and after reading your post in the last few days I think I came to the right place.

Thanks for listening <g> to me. I hope to get to know you all better.

De Ann
