Guest guest
Do you think that I am getting reoccurring boils due to the stress caused by hurricane Katrina? I am an evacuee of New Orleans and have NEVER had a boil in my life, now, in the past 4 months, I have had 7! I let the doctors take blood, there is no staph in my blood, and they just want to put me on antibiotics until the next time. Any experience with these boils? Guest guest
my guess is it is systemic and could be stress related but also could be from some chemicals in your system. best thing for boils... tape a half of an aloe vera leaf directly onto the boil and leave it over night. should clear up in no time. - " elizabeth " <casellae Wednesday, January 18, 2006 9:12 PM boils? Guest guest
Hi Elizabeth, Stress is very toxic and can cause physical illnesses far too numerous to mention. For boils, increase you intake of vitamin A. Take a supplement if necessary. Eat lots of foods containing beta-carotene, carrots, collard greens, parsley, cantaloupe, etc. Better yet, juice them, if you are able. I know you must have lost most everything you had from fleeing the hurricane. For stress you must increase your intake of pantothenic acid, vitamin C, zinc, magnesium, potassium, chromium, bata-carotene and B complex vitamins. Take supplements if you have to. Some food recommendations would be broccoli, kale, collard greens, red pepper, carrots, garlic, ginger, cantaloupe, parsley, swiss chard and spinach. Better yet, if you can juice them, do. These nutrients are depleted during the stress reaction and need to be replenished. Here is a good juice recipe from Cherie Calbom's book "Juicing for Life". She calls it Super-Eight Stress Reliever. I drink this quite alot and it tastes pretty good. 1 Kale leaf, 1 Collard leaf, a small handful of Parsley, 1 stalk of Celery, 1 Carrot (greens removed), 1/2 red pepper, 1 tomato, 1 broccoli floweret. Juice in this order: leaves, parsley, celery, carrott, red pepper, tomato then broccoli. You can get fancy and add a stalk of celery for a garnish and really treat yourself. If you are able, my favorite way to de-stress is in a hot bubble bath by candlelight. Also, try some chakra meditation or some transcendental meditation or both. You can find many resources on line to learn these meditations. Get a good book on juicing, if you are able to juice. If not, just eat as many raw vegetables and fruit as possible to help put back the nutrition lost to the stress response. You need to keep your mental health in order so that you can get your life back in order. As a cancer survivor, I know this all too well. How is your anxiety level? Don't be surprised if one day you feel fine and the next you have post traumatic stress syndrome. After my cancer, I got 5 different severe anxiety disorders. If anxiety is a problem, get back with me and I'll address that issue. I wish you all the best, with your health and with relocating or getting through whatever chaos the hurricane has put your life in. I will keep you in my prayers. Blessings, Renee P.S. What a great tribute to and rememberance of your brother in your closing. I'm sorry you lost him so young. You have a special angel watching over you always. He's not gone, you are just temporarily separated. God Bless you both! naturallynawlins4 <casellae wrote: Do you think that I am getting reoccurring boils due to the stress caused by hurricane Katrina? Guest guest
Hello Renee, I'm sorry that it has taken so long for me to get back to you as I have been without the internet. I have taken your suggestions to heart, the boils have stopped for now, so maybe I'm done with them. I think that you are so kind to take the time out to write to me about the boils, to really understand my situation and most of all, to mention my brother Randy, yes, he is my angel. Unfortunately, we evacuated away from his baby that was born just 6 months after he died, we actually moved back to Louisiana just 17 months before the storm to be in his life, this adds to my struggles, but I will be ok. Once again, thank you for reminding me that it is only temporary. love and healing, elizabeth (Forever Randy's sister, Randy Lee Rogers, 08/10/78 -04/19/03 ) " I would rather be hated for who I am than be loved for who I am not. Guest guest
God Bless you Elizabeth. I'm happy to hear that you are experiencing some healing, even if it is just minor. It's a start. I will pray for your continued healing, both of your physical and mental health (the stress) and of your heart as well. I hope you will be reunited with your nephew soon. Hang in there. Even though we may not always see it, there IS a silver lining behind every dark cloud. The sky will clear for you eventually.Blessings, Reneeelizabeth <casellae wrote: Hello Renee, I'm sorry that it has taken so long for me to get back to you as I have been without the internet.
