Guest guest
I am new to this disease. I was diagnosed about 8 months ago and so far have been doing well with topicals. I have been reading the posts and was wondering if anyone has researched fasting? I have a couple of books on the subject and one of them claims rosacea is one of the many diseases that can be cured by fasting. Guest guest
Welcome Julie Yes, I have researched and experimented with fasting. I have read that people with rosacea experience a temporary reduction of symptoms. When I had rosacea, I did some fasting before I did liver cleansing and I did experience a temporary reduction of redness. The reason I do not recommend fasting, is that most people work full time a nd have a busy life. Also most people feel sick and weak when fasting due to t he release of toxins in the body and lack of food. In order to fast properly, you need to be in a retreat like setting and res ting. Also one should not fast during cold weather and ones body type needs to be taken into account. Ayurvedic medicine says the vata (air) body type should not fast more than 5 days, pitta (fire) not more than 7 days, kapha (water) not more than 14 days. Fasting on water is the most restrictive. Some fast with vegetable or fruit juice. Note fasting on carrot juice would not be good due its heat increasing qual ity. Chinese medicine recommends just eating rice soup as a more balanced way to fast. Rice soup is made with 1 part rice to 5 to 6 parts water in a slow cooker. One can add a few vegetables to the soup and some herbs for flavor. If you feel inclined to fast, you could try it in the late Spring when it s tarts to get warm. However, before then I would suggest doing the liver cleanses, diet, and exercise which is the focus of this group. You can also carry on a norm al active life with this process.
