Guest guest Report post Posted January 3, 2002 Jo Ann I'm not sure what to think about apple cider vinegar, though I've been hearing about it's " wonders " for decades. By coincidence, it turns out that I've been using ACV for about 2 weeks now, to see if it creates as much of an " acid " problem for me, in my salads, as regular vinegars, and rice vinegar, which I love, but which always gives me terrible acid reflux pain. I'll continue using ACV instead, and see if it helps. Guest guest Report post Posted January 3, 2002 John, I agree with you that Dr. Mercola does have a bad idea or two but the claim of proof of the existence of the soul comes not from him but from the esteemed British medical journal the Lancet. He merely reprinted it. I did not find it proof enough for me however. Guest guest Report post Posted January 3, 2002 ---Wow- I thought rice was alkaline. Now this makes me wonder. My dad was plagued with digestive problems most of his life and he could tolerate rice. Perhaps it's something in the processing of the vinegar? Just a thought. Guest guest Report post Posted January 4, 2002 Well Mercola doesn't know what he's talking about, if he suggests that juicing veggies and fruit is bad for people. Juicing of foods, is extremely well regarded throughout the natural health movement, everywhere in the world, as a method for retrieving lost health, and supplying excellent nutrition to tired, worn out bodies. I've been in constant contact with numerous persons that regularly drink extracted juices, and they exhibit the best health of all the people I know. My doctor prescribed the use of juicing, only when it's accompanied by the consumption of whole foods. For breakfast, for example, he advised me to eat the following: 1 cup (max. 8ozs) of freshly made veg. juice, followed by a serving of fresh fruit, a few leaves of lettuce, and an oz of sunflower or pumpkin seeds. For lunch, it was another cup of juice, followed by a huge vegetable salad, and 3 ozs of raw, unsalted nuts. Mercola should actually try a diet of this kind, and tell us what he actually finds out after a month or so, instead of making pronouncements based on what he currently " thinks. Guest guest Report post Posted January 5, 2002 --- Bea, Hello! I would think the principle would be the same. Just be careful to avoid high glycemic fruits and veggies. Carrots is one of the highest if I recall correctly...I have the list around somewhere. Compiled if for my neice. Vitamin E is excellent for controlling high sugar. Green beans has an chemical that restores the pancreas. My hubby is eating a lot of them these days. :-) some say that apples also are high glycemic...but there are conflicting views on that. " B.
