Guest guest
Anytime I feel like a cold sore might be trying to form, I scrub it 'til it sort of hurts, with *real soap* on a washrag, and that's the end of it. (not the petroleum-detergent " soap " you get in the stores) Ivory brand is real soap, though they have removed the natural glycerine from it (to sell elsewhere) so it will be very drying to the skin. Guest guest
Start taking lysine @ 3000 MG a day. You can get it at Wal-Mart in the vitamin section. Limit foods containing high amounts of L-arginine. A couple of these would be chocolet and walnuts. Aubrey , " augustlas " <augustlas wrote: > > I think I am getting a cold sore for the first time. Guest guest
As an owner of a small supplement shop who understands that quality does matter, please don't send people to Wal-Mart for their supplements. Become familiar with the other ingredients listed on supplement bottles. L-Lysine is a very affordable supplement so there is no reason to bargain shop for it. Guest guest
I grew up using a Q-tip dipped in clorox and spread over the cold sore or cancker...works and dries them up fast. Guest guest
Dear Hamish et al, Fluoride may slow down cold sores, but the damage outweighs the benefit. L-Lysine is a very good and economical alternative. Lemon and salt mouthwashes also help reduce the pain for interior sores. In desperation I've also used a drop of cloves on a Q-tip to wipe interior cold sores (cancer sores). After the pain from the cloves dies down, the pain from the sores disappears too. Diluting it 4:1 with olive oil would probably be better. Peace, John
Guest guest
Lucinda, I get cold sores from time to time, and one easy way to stop one from rising is to dab a little tea tree oil directly on it with a cotton swab several times a day. This has worked for both my husband and I recently. It works best when you start applying the tea tree at the first tingle of a cold sore. ~Connie -- In , " asims1956 " <asims1956 wrote: > > Start taking lysine @ 3000 MG a day. Guest guest
My best method involves cutting open a clove of garlic and wiping it over your cold sore. It will sting just a bit the first time but not after that. Every so often during the day, cut off a bit of the piece of garlic so you have a fresh spot and wipe over it again. When I do this just as a cold sore is erupting, it never ends up turning into anything much. The key is to start treatment as fast as possible. For the long run, work on improving your health. I used to get cold sores all the time, but I haven't one in years now after being treated by a holistic doctor for another ailment. Guest guest
Coconut Oil kills the herpes virus and well it seems much more pleasant then the other cures I've found mentioned. Also, after using coconut oil I've ground up a Kombucha culture and put it on like a paste it dries up the sore and it healed so fast. Good luck. Wonder where you caught it from??? Guest guest
I wouldn't reccomend taking any supplements that are a generic brand, please do research on your supplements before taking them. Lysine will do the trick. There are also lip balms with lysine in them which work quite well. http://www.shaklee.net/roxanne_anderson , Jenny Kernan <rainysnana wrote: > > I grew up using a Q-tip dipped in clorox and spread > over the cold sore or cancker...works and dries them > up fast. > > Jenny Kernan > --- asims1956 <asims1956 wrote: > > > Start taking lysine @ 3000 MG a day. Guest guest
I just stumbled upon a fast cure for cold sore. CAYENNE PEPPERS! I had a cold/fever sore and i put together the following: four drops coconut oil, one drop lavander essential oil, 3 drops cayenne oil, a pinch of cayenne powder, two drops colloidal silver, and two drops of swedish bitters. Mix it thoroughly making sure all is blended together. Apply on sore. Put a little dab on a tiny gauze and put over sore holding secure with a paper tape. I do the gauze/tape procedure at night when i went to bed. This worked marvels. The blister disappeared in a few hour. It was gone in two days.
