Sorry to inform the Ekha Mukhi your friend got with Shivalinga, Snake,

Trishul and Omkar is definitely fake. All features are usually carved

and stuck with glue. Unfortunately this kind of fake item is being

sold everywhere near or outside temples and in puja shops. If your

friend boils the item, it will come apart. Genuine rudraksha does not

come apart when boiled.

I bought a bead from a Delhi footpath once...was told it was Rudraksha, it cost a few rupees and it was beautiful with a shivalinga, trishul and snake. That was years ago and it brought me really good fortune. Though I now wear real rudraksha it is still very much loved and I keep it on my altar.

Must be the effect of those nicely carved sacred symbols !( it is one of the kind that is made of some black resin mixture. )

Ek mukhi rudraksha is very rare to find. it must be some fake one. and what you tell poits in the direction that you have the blessing of lord shiva no matter you wear a real rudraksha or not. however a rudraksha can help you to fell more close to Shiva.
