Jaya Guru Datta,

During Sri Swamiji's visit to Baton Rouge and during the Dallas function, the

subject of practicing Kriya Yoga was a frequent topic. In both Baton Rouge and

Dallas, in His discourses, Sri Swamiji spoke of the importance and benefits of

practicing Kriya Yoga regularly and encouraged all devotees to become involved

in Kriya Yoga practice.

On Tuesday morning, following Sri Chakra Puja, Sri Bala Swami also gave a

discourse on the importance of regular daily practice. " Through breath, " He

told the devotees, " Sadguru enters the atman. " He encouraged all devotees to

set aside at least 10 to 15 minutes a day for spiritual practice and kriya yoga.

" Pray for regular practice, " He advised. Sri Bala Swami encouraged devotees to

first begin by offering their sleep to God as it is like samadhi. He reminded

devotees to let all of their actions and activities during the day become

pradakshina and to see the workplace as an ashram. " We need to bring the good

feeling we get in the Mysore ashram into our own places, " he said. Sri Bala

Swami reminded the devotess that our beloved Guru gives us both spiritual

knowledge and worldly knowledge, but in order to grow in that knowledge we need

to live fully in the present moment and be in sadhana. The whole world should

be our " yoga room, " he advised. " Be fully present wherever you are in whatever

you are doing, " He said. " Our natural birthright is to be peaceful, " Sri Bala

Swami explained, and through regular daily practice we can begin to develop this

the ability to think more clearly and correctly with a calm mind. Sri Bala Swami

advised that we should gradually increase our daily practice alway offering all

of our deeds and actions to Sri Swamiji. The result of this gradual increase, he

explained, will be a change in our thinking. As we practice and grow, He

reminded us that Guru will come and change our sadhana as needed. Sri Bala

Swami explained that having a regular daily practice helps both ourselves and

the next generation. " It's important to establish these practices, He advised,

" your children observe you and they learn from what you are doing. "

Sri Guru Datta!
