exaltation of planets

Dera all

Yesterday I was watching a program on ETV Rajasthan called jyotish Vishesh which

has a renowned astrologer from jaipur Dr Vinod Shastri as one of the panelists.

During the program he mentioned something quite interesting which caught my eye.

He said that all the in all these years (may be from the times the scriptures

were written)the speed, degrees and other astronomical attributes of planets

have changed and therefore the exaltation signs and degrees of exaltation for

planets have also changed. He only mentioned about sun which he said is now , in

current times is exalted in Mithuna rasi at 18 degrees and so on for other

planets as well.

I am curious to know has anyone researched or known anything like this.

phase gradually, there has been increasing strain!

What is the vedic way to calculate the exaltation signs and the specific degrees

of exaltation?

Is there a documented logic or a way to derive and confirm what is documented as

exaltation and debilitation signs are really in effect or this prescription is

based purely on chart observations?

Any vedic script/book that you know that have the enumeration of the reasoning?

All the main Jyotish classics like Brhat Parasara Hora Åšastra has the

calculation for exaltation (uccha-avastha in deeptadi scheme) and

debilitation (neecha).

 

Effects of these avasthas are given in Saravali for particular planets

and in Phaldeepika for general results.

Abhijit,

 

Please let us know when you find out about it from vedas and scholars. In the

meantime, I shall happily continue to use the method prescribed by Parashara and

others and carry on my practice of astrology ;-)

For me, simple is about doing it in the here and now and not procrastinating

until perfection arrives, from vedas or wherever else ;-)

The problem with many people like you, like few astrologers, like so

called doctors ; and like few others (whom I am unable to categorise),

who try to dabble in astrology is; that they do not posess requisite

faculty to grasp the wit and subtle but well intended pun in Rohini's

writings.

 

 

Some one asks Primarly class Q on exaltation and debilitation of

planets, the other gentelman describes to people that they have Love Yog

in their horoscope, a doctor,who perhaps has no work to attend, has all

the time on earth to do research in friendly relationships , which he

insists, must be termed as first marriage,second marriage and so on.

Funny people posing as astrologers on the group, who do not appear to

have even basic common sense about astrology and talk through their

hats.....are creating circus of great jokers ! And yes,It is really

beoming interesting to enjoy their acts in their own created circus

.....over the past 9 years.

 

Rohini, I love your patience, great art of wit and envy the feelings

of innocent enjoyment ,through writing in this group.It is worth it ,

rather than going to see 3 Idiots ! I love it . Eagerly awaiting for

your next reply to Abhijit !

Rafal Ji is right. Rahu and Ketu's exaltation is dealt in

Dashaa-phalaadhyaaya's verse 35.

 

Examine the raashis of exaltation of each planet with relation to the

benefic or malefic nature of that planet and the nature of lord of sign

of exaltation. Mercury is an exception, because it is a neutral planet.

 

Mutual friendship of both must be taken into account as well.

 

Detailed explanation will require a lengthy article. Read Rohini Ji's

articles.

wish to take me or my writings seriously and are picking and choosing slivers

without context. It is a very common strategy on Internet KOOTNEETI but there is

astrology even existed in Vedas (as an important discipline) or if rashis were

mentioned in Vedas or if sidereal zodiac was used then and some such very basic

questions which only bother theoreticians who have no interest in practical

astrology.

 

And you are asking questions like the vedic explanation for exaltations and what

not! Have you first examined and determined if exaltation or debilitation works

in the applied sense? If it does not, then your doubt and questioning is valid,

if not you are just another person who is trying to waste other serious people's

time!

 

Trust me, even serious people can make jokes, particularly in certain settings.

 

So, until you show me that you have studied astrology seriously, you are not

Anyhow, My aim for asking the question on marriage was to clarify my doubt as it

was raised when i listened to Respected PVR ji lessons. I found it in some

charts and thought i can be wrong and searched for a place where i can get

myself corrected. I thought this group will be a better place as this group is

managed by the Lord himself. So i presented with a simple question which however

changed lately to some explanations to present my view. Obviously with a hope

that you and other respected members will correct me. Anyway, i got myself

corrected or not you all know.

 

Soon after posting my views i realised that this group is no longer used for

discussing astrology but now a days it is used for promoting professional's

shops.

 

I am not a professional astrologer and learn astrology as a hobby. I have a 20

bed hospital to manage and astrology is just like understanding the truth behind

our existence.

 

But i am sorry, that i came here and wasted all your's time. I didn't knew that

astrology students are no longer welcome here to discuss their doubts on

astrology. And only learned astrologers can post.

 

So please forgive me for writing this mail also as this mail will also waste

your time only.

I agree completely with you. With no disrespect towards you, I know you

understand the importance of professionalism in any branch of science. And every

profession have some ethics attached with that profession which must be followed

by everyone, related to that profession, without exception.

for all the members of the group, including me. (I know writing this seems

awkward, but I think it is necessary here as it is quite easy to misinterpret

someone in public forum and I don't want anyone to misinterpret me. Please

I have no intention to offend any of the member of the forum. But as this is a

public forum I think I should express myself honestly.

 

Respected PVR Narasimha Rao Ji had a great vision when he started this group.

This is clearly reflected in the description of the group. Most of the members

understand the vision seen by him when he started this group. But I think I want

to write his vision in a simple language so that stupid people like me can

understand for what reason did he actually kept the foundation of this sacred

group. And all of us can respect his vision and stick to his intention behind

starting this group.

 

Respected PVR Narasimha Rao ji wanted to establish a place where there is a

'hermitage' like atmoshphere for learning astrology. He wanted to make an

environment where non-corrupt information flow seamlessly and without any

selfish intention.

 

For Senior Astrologers and students of astrology he wanted to make a place to

discuss the principles of Vedic astrology (Jyotish) in a hermitage-like

atmosphere where there is atmosphere of:

 

devoted learning,

Selfless sharing,

courtesy and mutual respect,

novices can freely ask very basic questions and get answers,

where very advanced discussions are going on alongside.

 

For seekers and " need help " members:

 

he never wanted to make this group as " need help " and " astrology consultation "

group. This is clearly indicated in last few lines of the group descriptions.

And he didn't wanted to astrologers to answer any such query so that such

messages are not encouraged. This is also clearly indicated in this group

description's last few lines.

 

Again, I do not intend to hurt anybody, I think this group as a sacred place for

learning astrology especially for persons like me who do not have any able guru

nearby to learn from. And this was the intention of Respected PVR Narasimha Rao

your forgiveness. As far the spirit behind starting this Group has been

reiterated by you, I agree with it. Hoever, when the mast of the grou

openes up, we find a foot note therwhich states :- " Note: This forum is

help, you may do it. But be prepared for not getting a reply. Also

understand, that the messages you post (which may contain sensitive

That is how the " requests for help " started appearing on the group, and

astrologers ,who had time and inclination, did the analysis of

respective charts and posted their advice/answers to the

queries/problems. That is how , many astrologers have also gained in

experience , from such analysis. Further, most of the times ,other

astrologers/members also gave their opinions, which became a starting

point of long discussions also. Thus, all us have also added to our

learning and understanding in such discussions. You will agree that it

is good way of enhancing our learnings , as it revolves around the

concepts of astrology, so like doctors, astrologers also need people in

problem, to help them, and thus hone up their skills.

 

During past 9 years, I have saved a number of discussions on various

concepts of applied astrology ,by saving such important pages for my

peronal record and feel that I have greately improved my knwoledge and

skills. Although I do have my own library, but , I need peple to come to

me to practice the concepts of astrology to try to help them. That is

why I also come to the the groups, where I am member, once a year,

for providing free service once in a year' and this service also enables

me to hone up my knowledge further.

 

Therefore, I also request you to please relax, and please do continue

with your contributions ,when you have time from your tight schedules.

We will all gain together,notwithstanding few teasers here and there!!!!

I have always accepted that Jyotish must be practical like the quintessential

mother that most of us grew up with and under the tutelage of!

 

Or an applied science like Engineering or Medicine?

 

Both of which are deeply involved in pretty much everything around us that we

see unless some of us have been hiding under some rock and not participating in

the modern reality and realization!

 

There is a lot of suffering in this world, and no single modality FOR PRAGMATIC

reasons will ever be able to FIX all problems or maladies, regadless of their

potential capability!

 

SO, if addressing and eliminating pain, suffering and promoting health

(physical, mental, spiritual) is our aim, there is only ONE way: We all work

together and not against one another!

 

Each one of us shall die and will be forgotten!

 

BUT what if we do not forget what we did and must carry the memory?

Dear Atul ji,

 

Many members like Rohini, etc. have bloated egos. I have stopped posting

message or replying to any mail in this forum for the last 4 years due to people

like Rohini, etc. There are good things to learn from a few members rest of

them are sheer peddlers to say the least but they think they are some kind of

spiritual gurus.

Respected Rohini Ji and all members,

 

I have no intention to offend any of the member of the forum. But as this is a

public forum I think I should express myself honestly.

 

Respected PVR Narasimha Rao Ji had a great vision when he started this group.

This is clearly reflected in the description of the group. Most of the members

understand the vision seen by him when he started this group. But I think I want

to write his vision in a simple language so that stupid people like me can

understand for what reason did he actually kept the foundation of this sacred

group. And all of us can respect his vision and stick to his intention behind

starting this group.

 

Respected PVR Narasimha Rao ji wanted to establish a place where there is a

'hermitage' like atmoshphere for learning astrology. He wanted to make an

environment where non-corrupt information flow seamlessly and without any

selfish intention.

 

For Senior Astrologers and students of astrology he wanted to make a place to

discuss the principles of Vedic astrology (Jyotish) in a hermitage-like

atmosphere where there is atmosphere of:

 

devoted learning,

Selfless sharing,

courtesy and mutual respect,

novices can freely ask very basic questions and get answers,

where very advanced discussions are going on alongside.

 

For seekers and " need help " members:

 

he never wanted to make this group as " need help " and " astrology consultation "

group. This is clearly indicated in last few lines of the group descriptions.

And he didn't wanted to astrologers to answer any such query so that such

messages are not encouraged. This is also clearly indicated in this group

description' s last few lines.

 

Again, I do not intend to hurt anybody, I think this group as a sacred place for

learning astrology especially for persons like me who do not have any able guru

nearby to learn from. And this was the intention of Respected PVR Narasimha Rao

Ji and the vision he saw.

 

I request all the members of the group to respect his great vision and stick to

the guidelines stated by the Lord himself. Atleast this we can do to thank him

for his selfless service to Astrology.

Dear Raj_ji and Atul Saheb (and others),

 

As long as Jyotish lives, it would be difficult to dissect the didactic/academic

from the practice!

 

Jyotish, like medicine or engineering is an applied discipline!

 

Their 'Nalandas' (Medical Colleges and IITs) would always need a Hospital or a

Workshop, right next to the LIBRARY and LECTURE HALLS, right on the CAMPUS!

 

I suppose RELIGION is similar too! The Gurukool must have a TEMPLE right next to

where the theory gets learned!

 

I am not sure if Narasimha is still engaged in running this forum, but I do hope

he shall agree with me on the above point and perspective.

 

I have always felt that Jyotish, being a lively framework for TOTAL HUMAN

EXPERIENCE must be inclusive and ECLECTIC!

 

Like here and elsewhere!

Respected Raj,

 

I have nothing against you or any other group member in mind. Infact I should

ask for forgiveness. You are my senior and comments of seniors are like

'signboards' on the path of learning.

 

I agree with you and Respected Rohini Ji that Astrology is more a practical

subject and more we practice more sharper we become. Examining charts are one of

the most important part of learning astrology like any other branch of science.

Only care we should take about is that we do not forget other objectives of the

group and other aspects of our karma.

 

I think members of this group are very lucky to have such learned astrologers. I

also manage a very small astrology forum and I understand the importance of

sacredness of spirit of forum and the cleaniness of the forum so that the

information is able to flow seamlessly without inappropriate noise inbetween.

 

I am again sorry if I was rude and did hurt someone here.

 

I am attached to this group and will again be here whenever I will have another

such 'weird thought' or 'stupid question' to ask.
