Guest guest
Namaste Rohini Ranjan, The apsara model appears to work for Kennedy's chart. He had the lagna in Virgo. In the navamsha chart, the apsara karaka is Mercury itself. In the bhava chart, Jupiter the 7th lord, Mars and Mercury are in conjunction in the 8th house of secret affairs. So, this would explain Kennedy's purported many love affairs, including Marilyn Monroe, the very beatiful apsara of Hollywood fame. Guest guest
Namaste Neelam, The apsara model appears to apply on Clinton's chart as well. Specifically, his lagna is Karka. In the navamsha, the apsara karaka is Venus, lord of the 7th house from Mercury. In the rashi chart, Mars, the fifth lord and Venus, the apsara karaka, are conjunct in the third house of publicity. Also, Venus is neecha in Virgo, the third house. Thus, we observed the very notorious and salacious news articles and books that were written about Clinton's relationship with Monica Lewinsky, a very good looking intern worthy of an apsara personified in the White House. Guest guest
Dear John Namaste The debate on the lagna for Clinton never saw a peaceful settlement. Many still go by Virgo lagna for him (KNR *et al*). But surely it is a good chart for the topic of apsaras and fatal attractions. He did have a fair share of temptations to which he also succumbed -- from the corridor of power, straying into paths of pleasure. The proverbial falling in love applied to him literally when, not once or twice, he fell five times!! Historically, Lewinsky being his fifth ‘fall’, excluding some of the unrecorded ones. Even the permissive US society said enough and declared ‘fault’. The first one was with Hillary, a library fall, not bad. The second one known as the horticultural fall, with Gennifer Flowers. The third, a routine temptation with Paula Jones. The fourth was with Kathleen Willey. And the fifth, the most disastrous one, was with Monica Lewinsky. Regarding your point of Karakas, and mercury being the karaka, I can’t comment. I would rather go by venus only, which becomes the karak of both rise and fall, as far as feminine temptations are concerned. Isn’t it the universal karaka of love and sex, why would it share its portfolio with mercury? A careful scrutiny of venus in relation with dashas would reveal much about these issues. For Clinton, whatever be the lagna, a debilitated venus with mars aspected by Saturn and Rahu says all. The houses of course would be 3,7,11 and 5 both from lagna and moon. A marriage would mean 7H comes on the scene. In fact, we may not include marriage in the list of temptations. 7H is minimum requirement to clear our social obligations and has no repentance or negative connotations with it. But beyond that whatever allures is temptation. Also we may check for R/K, one blows the hearth and the other roasts. Guest guest
Neelam ji, Apart from the pretty difficult matter of the correct birthtime of Bill who 'rose again after each fall', which is why I refrained from naming him as an example -- there is another matter, if I may suggest. In both situations most assume that Monica or Norma were the Apsaraas! However, aren't we all being a bit presumptive there? Apsaraas, if I understand correctly, wilfully entice males for testing or distracting them on purpose, at least in mythology. But were these two women really setting out to entice Kennedy or Clinton, on purpose? I suppose the real answer would only be known to them. Did we see an example of how society immediately assumes that it was the beautiful and attractive woman who was laying a trap for the 'powerful' monarch? Hence deserving of the title of Apsaraa! I do not know...! But it seems that the astrological shoe fits, as John informed us, in both cases :-) RR , neelam gupta <neelamgupta07 wrote: > > Another set may be added in the same context: > > Bill Clinton > Hillary Clinton > Monica Lewinsky > > > 2009/3/16 Rohiniranjan <jyotish_vani > > > Three characters: > > > > John F. Guest guest
Namaste Neelam, My response to your observations are as follows: 1. > The debate on the lagna for Clinton never saw a peaceful settlement. Even > the permissive US society said enough and declared `fault'. In Clinton's case, even if the true lagna is Virgo, his Venus and Mars conjunction is still a prime indicator of a womanizer. However, if we include the additional information that this same Venus is really a karaka for an apsara, the situation becomes different. That means that a higher power is causing these apsaras to tempt him for a purpose. In the vedic texts, we are told that Indra is the diety that orders these temptations to test the person's mettle, as a leader or a renunciate. If a person fails the test, he is expected to get back up and strive for perfection once again. In addition, we read in the vedic texts that the offsprings and their descendants of these apsaras from a mortal male become powerful or are endowed with unusual qualities. I believe Parasurama is a descendant of Urvasi, an apsara of the ancient past. 2. >Regarding your point of Karakas, and mercury being the karaka, I can't > comment. For Clinton, whatever be the lagna, a debilitated > venus with mars aspected by Saturn and Rahu says all. Your point is well taken. But the additional information gives qualitative details as to the characteristics of a given planet. An apsara planet, as discussed above, can show the motives behind the temptation. If there was no temptation involved and marriage occurs, the degree of love and affection is much deeper and the offsprings are better. In addition, the apsara planet can qualitatively redefine the indicators for analyzing the other facets of life. For example, when an apsara planet is associated with the indicators for work and careers, it would mean that the person will have great potential for succeeding in music, dance and the fine arts. As shown in the previous post, the apsara planet is not limited to Mercury alone. The selection of the apsara planet is determined by its position from Mercury, that is the 7th house from Mercury in the navamsha chart. So, the apsara planet is equivalent to a chara karaka. Guest guest
Namaste Rohini Ranjan, I'm glad that you appreciate the proposed method of selecting the apsara planet. From my vantage point, this method is part of the messages encoded by the writers of the vedic texts. It is up to us to understand and apply the messages in real life. The more one finds these encoded messages, the more one appreciates the wisdom of the ancient seers. There is actually more to this apsara story than meets the eye. For instance, most of us here are probably familiar with the story of Urvasi, the apsara, and the rishis who caught a glimpse of her. In my opinion, this story is about an ancient method of " in vitro " fertilization. If anyone is interested, we can discuss this further. Guest guest
Dear Rohini ji, God tests. Satan tempts!! The polarity is obvious and the purpose is clear. How it is implemented remains to be seen. I think the ‘satanic’ bait is custom made for each soul. Hence a variety of Apsaras. Astrology can provide the insight. Bill appears to be a much enticed soul, and may not need apsaras for this aspect of his life. But surely the experiences would’ve been useful, some lessons for his soul. Guest guest
Namaste Rohini Ranjan, Good question. Using the proposed method, Mercury is the karaka for the apsara in JFK's chart. However, Mercury is also JFK's lagna lord of the rashi chart. It appears that we can interpret that he is the seducer, or the Gandharva, the male equivalent of the apsara. In the ancient texts, Gandharvas are notorious for seducing young women and leaving them pregnant. They are also very good looking and are considered the celestial musicians. Nonetheless, I am not familiar if JFK had any unique talents in music or the arts. The shad ripus I mentioned in a previous mail hold the astrological key to this. The six enemies in the form of kama (lust), krodha (anger), lobha (greed), moha (infatuation), mada (pride), and matsar (jealousy), have to be conquered to be eligible for the great and final escape. These enemies erode our body-mind complex from within leading to its weakness and repeated death and rebirth. This is the 6-11 connection and the challenges which one is likely to encounter. Besides this, 6H gives the results of previous karma and shows rinanubandhan and 11 blocks the entry to heavens. We all face the shad ripus in various forms, mostly denoted by the 6H and try to conquer them in various ways. But what is the final test that we’ve conquered these enemies? Guest guest
Dear Neelam ji, Things are getting more interesting now. It is apparent from your explanation that the 'Apsara' takes the form of one more shadripus. As we can map the shadripus to planets, it would be interesting do a comprehensive study of the Apsara(s) for each chart: Kama - Desire - Rahu Krodha - Anger - Mars Lobha - Greed - Saturn Moha - Infatuation - Venus Mada - Obsession - Ketu Matsarya - Jealousy - Mercury Probably why MONEY is most interesting is that MONEY can be converted easily to seek any Apsara of our choice (or our weakness). Guest guest
Dear Krishna ji, That was a nice mapping. Generally a cursory glance is enough to identify this planet and how it behaves in a chart. Trishadaya-trinal connection (specially 3, 6) is an indication of such a phenomenon and its roots. Further details can be worked out from the houses and planets involved. Mercury and Saturn between them share the trishadaya lordships and mercury is the worst corrupter being impressionable and quick. Saturn, also the karma lord, has power to elevate the status of trishadaya to upchay. It can make one a strict disciplinarian or a yogi. Try keeping an eye on the neech bhangas in the horoscope. Guest guest
Namaste Balasubramaniam, I believe the strength of the 9th house and its lord is the main factor that can help resist temptations. The 9th house is the house of the highest knowledge, which includes your belief on how this phenomenal world was created. The ancient texts consider this house to be Vishnusthana or Laksmisthana. The 9th house is the key to the development of higher levels of consciousness. This house signifies samadhi or pure consciousness. Why? Because it is the 10th house (karma) from the 12h house, the bhava for meditation representing loss of thoughts for the sake of transcendental consciousness. As the higher levels of consciousness are attained, the attachments to the gunas, which includes the shadripus, diminish. From my own understanding, this is the reason why the ancient texts emphasize the tapas and renunciation efforts done by the ancient rishis. In effect, we are not necessarily bound by the grip of the grahas in our daily lives. But without the knowledge above, human beings will be conditioned and subjected to the whims of the gunas. Guest guest
Namaste John, Thank you for your logical observation on my doubt. As you said, the ancient rishis were living in the age when the whole human race were Brahmanishtas. Guest guest
How do we know that for sure that that was so? Imagine if few thousand years from now, someone were to come upon a time capsule that contains copies of three or four modern epics or a series of those from the writings of J.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowlings, George Lucas, complete with a well-preserved DVD or few that ANY and ALL DVD STANDARDS ever to be described can 'READ' and display -- would that necessarily be evidence of how humanity lived oh say few thousand years ago from when these will be found...? I realize this may upset many but leave the emotion out of religion or at least HISTORY and rethink about it all this logic and evidence! Guest guest
Dear Rohini ji, That was a good point. Judgment of age left to posterity! Or if you have the power, twist the tale and relax in the heavens, while posterity sings your glory! Are we sure our ancients didn’t know this simple trick! Remember ‘Time Capsule’, the project meant to deify Madame. No one has a clue about the fate of the mission, but Krishnaswamy, the PTC historian has been rediscovered and adorned with a Padma Shri this year. Those who are interested, may go fishing under the parliament house!! or wait till posterity. Regards Neelam
