This is a very impressive achievement, and a huge contribution to astrology.

Hello, Ron.

In a message dated 00-06-09 13:07:59 EDT, you write:

>Hello fellow siderealists, and thanks for the invitation to join this group.

>As suggested in the welcome letter, I'll briefly introduce myself to the

Thank you for coming, Ron, and for your b'data. Since I'm working on a

project to see what kinds of aspects people in different careers tend to

have, the more astrologers's charts I have, the better my research will be.

>I have been practicing Vedic Astrology for about 6 years now. Initially, I

>tried my luck with classical jyotish, but found it to be a ball of confusion.

This is one aspect which Vedic and traditional Western astrologies have in

common. There's a lot of teachings in both that prompt me to ask, " But how

do you _know_ this? "

>I then stumbled across a very clear and concise method for interpreting a

>chart - a method that is called the " Systems Approach to Vedic Astrology, "

>started by Professor V.K. Choudhry of Gurgaon, India. I became one of his

>very first students outside of India, and subsequently became its main

>founding president of the IIPA (International Institute of Predictive

>Astrology), which currently has chapters in 8 different countries, including

>Canada, the United States, England, France, Malaysia, India, Singapore, and

>the United Arab Emirates.

>

>The Systems Approach to Vedic Astrology is really nothing more than a

>stripped down (bare bones) version of Parashara's classical Vedic Astrology.

>We use the basic elements of astrology without all the impressive,

>ego-building jargon that sounds good, but doesn't get the astrologer any

>closer to predictive accuracy. Many classical jyotishis say it (SATVA) is

>simplistic, but the bottom line is that it works and the client understands

>what we're saying. Personally, in the four years I've been using SATVA, I

>can objectively document an 85 to 90% predictive accuracy rating. That is

>not to my credit or to sound my own horn, since I feel anyone using SATVA

>can achieve the same results.

I'd like to know more about SATVA and the SATVA list (and please pass on my

congratulations to Prof. Choudry, for both creating a technique anyone can

use and for the clever acronym ;-) ). Please feel free to e-mail me

privately about it, since you say

>After this introduction, I will not expend my efforts to proselytize

>any of you, but SATVA is the technique I will use if asked to

>analyze any charts on the list. I hope that is OK with everyone.

As list owner, it's definitely okay with me.

As far as my career, I am an AS/400 Web Developer. I would attribute this

choice to:

1) Beginning my adult work life during a 17 year Mercury dasa, which accents

the technical, communications field.

2) The fact that Mercury natally disposits the Sun, Mars, and Jupiter.

3) Mercury resides in the house of income gains.

4) I am ruled by Venus, who also governs the 8th house, which corresponds to

research & development.

5) both Saturn and Jupiter beneficially aspect the 8th house.

6) Saturn, governing oil, resides in my house of wealth/status.

You can read about/join SATVA at satva . I also

Dear Prakash -

I am a new member. I have learn some thing about this system in a class. I know some basic. Please allow me to participate. I am interested to learn more.

Welcome to our group Prakash. If you want to jump in, you can start by going to the FILES section in our group list and download all of Krushna's Lessons. This will bring you pretty much up to speed with the rest of us. We are all still in the processing of growing and helping each other learn Krushna's system and when we get it to work, it's VERY accurate! When it doesn't, it's because we usually forgot to remember certain rules or apply certain techniques. Aside from a little language barrier problem, we're all learning alot from Krushna and hope to learn much more. So pull up a chair, sit down and welcome to class. . . ;))

I'm a little confused. Is there somewhere that explains these breakdowns

for the novice? Can you perhaps tell me how this applies to/affects me?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Sanjay,

In answer to your questions, I am from the Netherlands. I studied different kinds of Jyotish through email courses given by Roeland de Looff. On his site, http://www.dirah.nl email: roeland you can find all the things he is offering, including email courses on astrology. In his courses also the aspect KP is treated. After that I ordered the first three readers of KP en I am now studying them my own way.

Met vriendelijke groet, Minne

Oh, yes, Wendy:

forgot to tell you you have one particularly good part of your Jyotish chart for studying

Jyotish.

You've got Jupiter in Virgo, but, which aspects Mercury in Capricorn

from Jupiter's 5th House aspect.

And I find that people who have strong Jupiter connections,

Jupiter with or aspecting the Moon or Sun....

Or in strong spiriutal houses....

have powerful Jupiter qualities....

including Jyotish!

Hello everyone,

I am new to your list today. I have always had a keen interest in Astrology since I was a small child. Recently, I have become very interested in learning Predictive Astrology. The troubles I have found in researching predictive astrology are the lack of viable resources available.

I was playing with a program called AstroLog 5.4 when I stumbled upon a section called Arabic Parts/Lots. I tried to find out more about it and was disappointed to find out that it is an ancient method that has fallen into disuse. Of course, this makes it even more difficult to learn.

Then I tried to research predictive astrology. I wasn't interested in only using Horary Charts as I've been told they are for only predicting the now. I wanted something that would provide me with a predictive timeline to past, present and future. I was fortunate enough to find this site this morning quite by accident. It had everything I needed in the files section. Thank you. I am very excited to learn the Vedic System of Astrology. I wasn't sure what it was I was really looking for until I found it this morning.

I don't have any questions for study today, but I will provide my birth info for those who are interested. I'm not sure what you would like to know about me or my personal life, but I'd be more than happy to answer any questions. I was born on January 8, 1969 at 10:28 am Atlantic Standard Time. I was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. Using the chart given on Astrodienst, I believe the coordinates to be 76W30, 44N14. I don't have a map to verify that. Sorry.

I look forward to getting to know everyone and learning this amazing system of astrology.

Sincerely,

Wendy

Hi Mark and Group, I just wanted to add here that I am going back over the posts and you have a very good format for the beginning here, ie, going over the life and writing out your qualities, etc. It is a big project and will take me awhile, meanwhile I am busy reading the posts here going backward.
