Dear Renu ji, The point I was trying to make is, as Jupiter is retro, the dictum is not applicable for that chart. Hence, it is not surprising that she gave birth to children in spite of Jupiter in lagna and 5th house afflicted. But, many people believe that it is good to have Ketu in Sag. Dear Vijay ji, Probably, this chart should have been shared in the Jupiter chain. It does not matter, I just changed the subject line. The intersting point in this chart is Jupiter is retrograde and is in lagna. This is the second such chart shared today. The first one was shared by Renu ji. I feel that the dictums of Jupiter in Lagna can not be directly applied to charts where Jupiter is retrograde. Because, Jupiter here does not behave like the normal Jupiter. Namaste Vijayji and Krishnaji...

Thanks Neelam and Krishna for your thoughts on this peculiar case of retrograde jupiter in lagna. Till now I was quite confused as to how come this girl isnt chaste and pious as jupiter is exalted in lagna. But as Neelam mentioned many points, I can quite understand why this girl's character is such. Thanks once again Neelam and Krishna. By the way, I will try and search for other charts with jupiter in lagna for you guys to study. But as we have seen in this case, others planets also can override the effect of jupiter in lagna. I will search for a case where jupiter is in lagna and not aspected by any other planet, that will give us a clear picture of what jupiter does in lagna. Regards, Vijay. Dear All, Jupitor in lagna becoming malefic?!! OK. Dear Sreenadh ji, My answer is based on unconvetional thinking. You may not appreciate it much. But, here is what I would like to say: I consider the radition wavelength of a retrograde planet to be more than its usual wavelength. If we look at the wavelength specturm, it appears that a retro Venus or Mercury would be still within the range of benefic wavelengths; where as, there is a danger that a retro Jupiter wavelength might fall in the malefic zone (depending upon the relative speed of Jupiter, of course). Hence, I feel that it is good to have a retro Venus or Mercury as they tend to become more benefic as against a retro Jupiter. A retro Jupiter almost still or just in the initial stages of retrogration may not be bad. Hence, it is quite possible that those who have studied retrograde Venus or Mercury might have concluded that retrogration strengthens a benefic.

No analysis, just adding another data point (not even a good one) for

what it is worth -

I have a retro Jupiter in lagna (kumbha) but 2 shady guys but with a

mercurial tinge are sitting across casting their shady effects.

Details - 25th August 1974, 1940 Hrs, Hyderabad, India.

One of the things I have read about Jupiter in lagna is that events

happen quicker than 'normal' which is not really defined That seems

true in my case. I was the youngest in my class throughout education

and now at job as well, got a job earlier than others, got married

early (as compared to others in my community) etc.

Most of the regular Ju effects are there - interest in scriptures, fat

but not much (Sun and Mars aspect), brown/ honey colored eyes (another

member had posted some details where the eye color was same!).

am not sure how the retro factor gets in; atleast I am unable to

'retrofit' the observations with (any) hypothesis.

dear all, well in moon dasa jupiter bhukthi i taken by my parents to pilgrimage to ganga and whole north india, and in mars dasa jupiter antara i was awarded by tamil nadu governer at that time channa reddy, 1st prize, also recieved many awards for arts in chennai.( Drawing and painting). in rahu dasa and guru antara that is one year back,i got a new bike from my father,lots of girl friends, passed one of my CA exam, met with one accident and got hurt in face and head upper part. but nothing major all vanished not even scars inspite of many stiches ( it was done my a plastic surgent so no scars). just let me know what more can i expect in jupiter maha dasa which starts from 2016.thats too long but just want to know. Planets revolve round the Sun in eccliptic orbit and are never retrograde. Since we view them from earth at certain stage they appear to move backwords. Hence the word retrograde. Dear Kiran ji, Yes, one section of the astrologers tend to believe that the retrograde planets are not combust. Some believe that Venus and Mercury are combust only when retrograde. However, I have read that according to Surya Siddhanta even the retrograde planets are also combust and only the distance from the Sun for combustion is lower. Dear Krishna ji, Retrograde Jupiter cannot be combust, because when the retrogression starts it would be always at least 120 degrees (approx) away from Sun. The simple reason. Similarly Saturn too cannot be combust in retrograde, because it would be much away from sun then. Several planets such as Mercury, Venus etc can be combust when retrograde. Hope this helps. Note: Kiran ji's initial statement regarding Jupiter was right, but the later reasoning wrong. Dear Sreenadh ji, Ok, you are saying that astronomically Jupiter and Saturn will never be close to Sun when they are in retrograde mode. Hence, there is no question of them getting combust. I guess if that is the case there is no debate. What about Mars. Mars is also an outer planet. Does the same apply in the case of Mars as well? Second question - Is it possible that Venus and Mercury get combust when they are direct?
