You exist. You are aware that you exist. Abiding in this awareness as

awareness is the practice. Looking within with awareness at one's own

existence is self-inquiry. There is no higher meditation than this self

existent awareness. This practice itself merges in the goal and that is

Self-Realization or Self-Recognition. Sri Ramana said to Paul Brunton

that the practice of the Sadhaka is the state of the Siddha. It is all

an open secret and crystal clear. Everything is transparent as existing

and subsiding in awareness.

Hi Harsha,

I find the practice of self inquiry difficult - confusion as to how...

Is it necessary to do this?

Or if you can attempt to abide in the presence/awareness, is that enough by

itself?

I think it is?

Appreciate any response

Yes! We are present. We are aware. Remaining quietly in this presence as

awareness is enough. Awareness and presence are ultimately the same

thing. Existence-Being-Awareness, remaining in any one of these is the

same thing.

Know That by which all else is known!

hi harshiji, i probably should have come to you with this puzzle in

the first place...

" In sahaja samadhi the activities, vital and mental, and the three

states are destroyed, never to re-appear. However others notice the

jnani active, e.g. eating, talking, moving, etc. He is not himself

aware of these activities, whereas others are aware of his

activities. They pertain to his body and not to his Real Self,

swarupa. For himself, he is like the sleeping passenger --or like a

child interrupted from sound sleep and fed, being unaware of it. The

child says the next day that he did not take milk at all and that he

went to sleep without it. Even when reminded he cannot be convinced.

So also is sahaja samadhi. "

ok, so whats this about....

i know asamprajnata samadhi -super-consciousness beyond (perfet)

knowledge: the Self dwelling in the Self: acognitive samadhi...

i never heard of a liberated being not being aware of the three

states, waking states...dreaming and deep sleep...until i saw it on

your sight..

that description of the jnanai above is what meher baba calls a

*mast*....

i feel like i need to know more about it?

Dear Harsha,

What is there in what was said above and below that does not qualify

as being pramana fixation and vikalpa? The presentation of impeding

and limiting vrittis?

Dear Deviji:

The above quote is from Sri Ramana. In the dialogues Sri Ramana

differentiates between Kevala Nirvikalpa Samadhi and Sahaj Samadhi.

*Asamprajnata samadhi seems like another name for Nirvikalpa Samadhi.*

Have you read the " Talks " or other conversations with Sri Ramana?

Perhaps you can also ask your guru on this matter since you respect him

much.

Dear Harsha,

In that case, would it be advisable for others not to pay attention to

The Essential Teaching as it may be misleading, especially those

predisposed to following words literally?

Hi, Harsha:

That's it. That pretty much sums it up.

I'll have to come over and check out your forum. Can I post on there

or are there alot of restrictions? Some of those Ramana forums are

real uptight and fundamentalist. He's become like a god to some

people. I don't see him as a god. But, I think Ramana was very cool,

very wise. No doubt.

Hi Fuzz,

Yes, you can sign up. New members are on moderation for a few days to

keep out spammers for dating services and stuff. I usually take people

off the moderation after two or three posts when I find the time to do

it. So be patient for the first day or two.

We are not uptight or fundamentalists, at least we don't think so! :-).

Dear Lewis,

I am not in a position to give advice. People are attracted to a

teaching that resonates with them. Probably, a lot of people look at

this stuff and scratch their heads. It is certainly advisable for people

to follow their natural inclinations when it comes to such things. If

something makes no sense, why listen to it (regardless of who posts it).

Harsha

Yup.....that's probably because there is no self.......and even if there were
