dear Mr.R

Sree mathre namah

it is indeed difficult to get hold of the murthys of Chinnamasta Devi or Vajra

Yogini ( as been called in Saugata). Her pictures are available ofcourse in the

Central Bazaar, Khatmandu at some Rice paper paintings collectors for sale.

i have visited a temple in Katmandu where similar worship is made but the idol

or the diety is not shaped like what is described in the Dhyana Sloka of Chinna

Masta. this is the Ashram of Rimpoche in Katmandu on the outskirts of katmandu

and on the way to the well known Mano Kamana devi. enquire there, if Mother

wishes, you can get a peep in the inner sanctum sanctorium where i am sure there

is this Deity. i am also quite sure of a place in Norther Bhutan, where she is

worshipped as Vajra Yogini, mahayana buddhism madhyamika sect, called 'LogHre

gven poche'.

oflate there has been lot of enquiries about chinna masta especially in this

forum. it is good of course. i maintain some addresses of the Sadhakas of

Chinna Masta across Himalayas and far east and i can give, i dont find any

particular use of course. the worship of Chinna Masta and Tripura Bhairavi are

almost extinct we can say, i am talking about the sadhana in its real sense,

however Mother is available every where in its own way, probably we might not be

knowing it. this world is so vast and secretive that we might be staying so near

to a Chinnamasta temple or Tripura Bhairavi temple but still we stay ignoramous.

it is the greatness of the Vidya or Gryana which is the form of the Goddess.

i would take courage and dare to say this to all those who pursue things with

more vested interests and with a outlook of fashion in mind that these things

are great in their own sense and one should approach them with all the sincerety

they could give and worship they could do and then one may find the key to the

world of knowledge.

chinna masta and tripura bhairavi i believe are the States or the stages which

a sadhaka face or undergo, for eg., chinnamasta is the state of beheadedness

that one gets seperated from the rest of body, if one observe carefully head

contains, all the Gyanendriyas and no karmendriya and also the Buddhi, Chitta

and ahankara are generated here only. probably the state of Chinnamasta denotes

the Yogic state of a person who gets devoid of all the karma whic is the reason

for rebirth. these are my thoughts about chinnamasta and i welcome discussion

in this field from the interested.

our Guruji has written a brief article about Chinna Masta i could share with

you if you wish. chinna masta's worship is mentioned in Maha Kala Samhita and

Maha Vidya Tarangini by Kulluka Bhatta a great Sadhaka of yore.

Gorakhpur is one place where if you try, respected sir, i think you will find

some luck. please keep me informed, i beg, about any development, as i am also

a son that Mother whom i wish to worship.

always at the feet of Guru,

Samvidananda nath.

I bought a murthi of Maa Swedha Taara last year at their branch in

This company specialises in pooja articles. I was told that they

undertake making of Idols of any murthi.

This is done by the sculptors of Tamil Nadu. I was told that they can

make any murthi if you supply a photograph.

I am not connected with any of these companies. But I will be happy to

give any assistance in your getting the murthi of Maa.

It may or may not be impossible obtain a murthi of Chinnamasta Devi, but due to the usual image of the Devi (self-decapitated, while the severed head drinks the blood), it may be extremely rare. Perhaps you can find printed images. In any event, good luck in your search. I am also interested in Chinnamasta Devi.

MAA CHINNAMASTHA

Thank you Saravana Kumar for your response to R's message. I do hope

he is able to get a murthi of Maa Chinnamastha. We will be very happy

if you can share your Guruji's article on Maa Chinnamastha. I have

written some messages about Maa Chinnamastha in some of the

Clubs. But these are only about the temples and purely from the point

of view of a Bhaktha. I do hope some of our learned members can throw

more light on Maa Chinnamastha.

Welcome back Amina Perry. It is a long time since I heard from you.

Please do take an active part in the group's discussions.

I am uploading a Kangra painting of Maa Chinnamastha. You will find

it in the Dasa Maha vidya album of the photographs section.

Jai MAA KAALI!!!

Namaskar to all ...

I would be interested to learn if anyone has luck locating idols

depicting Chinnamasta or any of the Ten Mahavidyas.

I agree with Amina that a Chinnamasta idol -- due to the complexity of

the iconography -- would not be readily available in mass-produced

form. I believe, however, that there is only ONE Chinnamasta murthi in

active worship in a public temple -- at the Durga temple in Ramnagar,

across the Ganga from Varanasi.

The white marble image includes the whole gang: Chinnamasta Herself,

Dakini and Varnini, and and Kama and Rati below; the streams of blood

are represented by thick metal wires, bent into curves and painted

glossy red. It was supposedly made by a tantrika from Madras.

Other Chinnamasta temples can be found in Bihar -- one is at Nandan

Parvat; one in Ranchi; also at the Kamakhya Devi temple at Kamarupa,

Assam; and at Vishnapur, West Bengal.

Perhaps you could contact these temples; the temples themselves, or

perhaps the merchants operating outside, might very well

stock Chinnamasta devotional items -- including idols or figurines?

Just a thought ...

Dear Samvidananda nath,

Could you please share the article written on chinnamasta? Also could you kindly send me any information you might have on yogis in himalayas/elsewhere who give deeksha or well versed in chinnamasta sadhana.

Appreciate your help. Thanks,
