Which lords are most malefic? 6-8-12 or 3-6-11?

Dear experts,

There seem to be different views on the malefic lordships. According to BPHS, the lords of trishadyas, ie 3,6, and 11 houses are the most malefic in a chart, while 8th and 12th lords are neutral. But we see in several discussions that lords of 6,8th and 12th are the most malefic.

As per my understanding, planets occupying 6th , 8th and 12th cause the most harm but as far as lordship is concerned, 3rd,6th and 11th lords are the most malefic, is my understanding correct? Could the experts kindly throw some light?

Thanks & Regards,

Nisha

Dear nisha,

If the lord of 6,8 and 12th also happens to own 3rd or 11 th house then it becomes all the more malefic. Laal kitaab refers to these houses 6,8 and 12 th as trik bhavs and many a books have been authoured on malefic effects of these houses. I personally feel 6,8 and 12 to be more malefic in effect and design.

Dear Nisha,

It is not so simple to answer your question here. Better read "Laghu Prashari"- the most authoritative treatise on functional effects of the planets.

In my opnion an astrologer who has not studied this treatise, has imcomplete knowledge of Hindu astrology.

Following books on the subject are available in the market.

Nisha...

Sorry about this insertion by a lowly ant as opposed to the requested comment from experts as you sought. Hopefully a few did arrive in your mail-box.

There is no absolute malefic or perfect benefic!

If you have been an accountant for your entire past life, numbers and ledgers come easily to you and represent benefics in ....at particular example!>

But if you have been an accountant all your life but really wanted to be a violin-virtuoso -- now we have a BIG Challenge and a situation where the violin or music may pose formidably as a CHALLENGE!

MUSIC is not malefic! YOUR wanting to master it MAY BE!

I hope this makes sense? If not, please say so. Some GURUJI may oblige...!

Nisha

Dear RR ji,

Good to see the ant teaching some lessons on thought & context , fellow readers its a privilidge to have this lowly ant as the RR likes to call himself among us because whatever the ant does its realistic and down to earth ,just brace yourself for some honest jyotish opinion.

Thank You Sandhuji and RR ji, I am so happy to receive all your inputs on this. I have been studying astrology for a while now. It is as fascinating as it is confusing .I have gone through, BHPS, Laghu Parashari, Saravali and varahamihira concepts of astrology. . There are so many contradicting views. All your inputs are really really helpful.

1. I also have a question on Parivathana of planets. what exactly is the effect of parivarthana? For example if lagna lord(jupiter) and 7th lord(mercury) exchange places, does it mean during jupiter-mercury period, the effect will be that of jupiter-jupiter period+mercury-mercury period+mercury-jupiter period+ jupiter mercury period? How does all this add up to?

2. Also, often analysing a horoscope of a well known and successful person, turns out to be not so tough since we try to look at why he is successful and try to see positivity in most of the placements. But if a similar horoscope is given by a person who says he is a failure in life, the similar placements may be analysed as the reason for failure. One of the examples that I came across was Amitabh Bachchan's horoscope. He has 4 planets in Dustana in deadly 8th house. I have seen analysis on these planets and why he is successful. If the horoscope was the same but was given as that of an ordinary person who was full of problems, would not the astrolgers come to the conclusion that it is because of all important lords in Dustana? Do we have an unbiased way of judging a horoscope?

The experts may find my questions extremely trivial and baseless, kindly forgive me if that is the case.

Best regards!

Nisha

Namaste Nishabahen,

I am adding a small explanation to points already answered with specific reference to your valid observation on analysing Celebrity Horoscope.

I think for judging the Planetary Dasha and Transits without bias -it is better to First view the Lordship of a Major Planet,i.e., it should be the lord of 3,6,12 AND badhaka sthana.

Then check where this lord is posited-if it is posited in 6th,8th and 12th-it will play a truly disturbing role. For example - For a Mesha Lagna person,Budha is lord of 3 and 6 house-if it happens to be in Taurus,Leo,Scorpio and so on counting 6,8 and 12 th from the Mithuna(3rd from lagna), Kanya(6th from lagna),Kumbha ( 11 th-Badhaka sthaana for Mesha) Meena (12 th from Lagna) - Budha dasha for adversely placed Budha will surely bring porblems.

The above is just a basic sketch and not the whole picture. We must include other factors like the current age of subject(e.g.- a 70 year old person may have some health problems happenning in 6th Lord or 6th house occupant -No Wonder !!! But a 7 year boy sufferring from lukemiea or thallesemia is surely meritting analysis and remedial action by proper worships).

As you must have known by now -Jyotisha is not a snapshot tool as many commercially engaged people make it out.

May Vyasadeva impart you strength in learning Jyotisha.
