Sciatica In Ayurveda

Abstract :-

Sciatica is a neurological disease caused mainly due to unknown etiology or inter vertebrae disc prolapsed, it is not fatal, sever pain may make the patient bid ridden.

The Management of sciatica with unknown etiology is still a medical problem where except for some palliative measures no permanent medical treatment is available. The NASAIDs of course may instantaneously relive the pain and are being widely used in the medical practice. But the adverse effect of drastic that the patients are forced to discontinue the treatment. Keeping the above short coming in view, and attempt was made to find out the therapatic efficiency of Ayurveda .and it has been found out that there is no better cure of Sciatica in Ayurveda compare to other therapy

Introduction with symptoms :-

Gridhrasi ( Sciatica ) is one of the Vata Disorder, which comes under 80 Vata Roga, The description mentioned in Asthanghridaya and sushrut Samhita is one and the same. The Pain starting from lower back down to heal and toes due to vitiation of vata, which makes the patient difficult to walk is called Gridhrasi (Sciatica)

Charak has described two types of Gridharasi Viz Vataj and Vataj Kaphaj, the pain in gridhrasi start from buttock, the waist or the back and radiates gradually towards the thigh, the knee, the leg, the foot, stiffness, pricking Pain, restricted morbidity and frequent catching sensation, if present the gridhrasi is due to vata ; on the other hand if drowsiness, heaviness and anorexia are present in addition it is due to vata Kaphaj ..

Charak description is very much similar to that common modern Opinion, Server pain originating from gluteal region gradually radiating towards the foot is the symptom of sciatica. Pulling pain, Pricking pain, numbness and stiffness will also be present. Low backache with sciatica is very common among people of middle age. Trauma and prolapsed disc are the most common causative factors of sciatica. Severe cases are more chronic and give a history of remitting attacks

Even though sciatica is not a serious diseases is comparison to other neurological conditions lack of proper Management may lead to severe neurological deformity. Ayurvedic line of treatment is found to be more effective and suitable as compared to modern mode of treatment.

Treatment for Sciatica In AYurveda

Before starting the treatment first will give patient 5-6 tea spoon Castor Oil ( Aranya tail ) in cup of sweet warm luke milk mix the oil and drink before sleeping and additional after that cup of milk drink more cup or glass of milk .. next day 2-3 motion will comes its called Virechan in Ayurveda..

From next day the ras chikista will start

Preparation compound Number 1-

Vat kulanta ras ( Swarn Yukta )

Sameer Pannag ras ( swarn Yukta )

Malla Sindoor

Akangveer ras

Mahavatviwansak ras

Vatagujankus ras

Triyodasang Gugulu

Sameer Gaj keshari

 

Mix all those Ayurvedic Medicines and form one special compound take 2-3gm dose twice a day mix with honey..

After lunch and dinner

Maharasnadi Qwait – 4 tea spoon

Punarnava rista -- 4 tea spoon

 

And add same 8 tea spoon of normal drinking water after lunch and dinner..

Along with it after 10mins drink 4 tea spoon AshwagandhaRista + 4 tea spoon water ..

Pathya

In diet take Daliya , moong ki daal. Makaoya ka sag, Weatpowder. Palak, etc.

Not to eat (Apathya )

Urad ki daal , dahi, chaj , baigan , chana daal , tail, mirch , acchar, besan used food not to take..
