Diamond Setting

Hi,

 

i wanted to know when one makes a diamond ring, should the inner side of the ring be completely covered or the area below the diamonds should be left open.

Sun rays has to pass through the gem to the skin for deriving the effect. The bottom of the ring under the gem should not be covered.
