We were Brahma at one time?

It makes sense that the soul when it first contacts the material energy would take a position in the high heavenly realms. Afterall he has no specific karma or a network of desires and impressions forcing him towards a certain material form.

This is very subtle subject matter and I don't expect to achieve more than the roughest idea of how these things work. But it sure is fun to let the mind go there and contemplate.

It is said that creation and dissolution of the world has been going around from eternity. If so, then infinite number of cycles of creation and dissolution have happened. In spite of this, if there was a first time when a soul contacted the material energy, this means that there are infinite number of souls. Is it so?
