xdementorsxkiss 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2006 When is it okay to end the fast? At midnight, or when you wake in the morning? Thanks! (I ask because it is past midnight here and I'm hungry! LOL -Jenna
Jahnava Nitai Das 1 Report post Posted May 10, 2006 It is in the morning, usually around sunrise, but the exact timing varies.
xdementorsxkiss 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2006 Okay, thanks I waited until I got up this morning (much much after sunrise), so I'll just do that from now on, to be safe Thanks again!
Nrsinghadev 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2006 Nooooooooo! You can't decide for yourself when to break fast! It may be always at some time in the morning, but there are specific times at which to break fast and failing to break fast in the specified time ruins the effect of your fasting according to scripture. There's a nice story in relation to this, the story of Ambarish Maharaja and Durvasa Muni. You should consult a Vaisnava Calender for when to break fast, as the times vary. Usually you have roughly 3 hours to break fast, but other times you could have only 1 hour at a specific time. This first Ekadasi of the month may for example we had to break fast literally really fast as we had only 2 minutes! Please contact your local temple for a calender in your timeframe or check online. Haribol!

shuvo 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 yea...we have to break fast as it is given. we can get the time to break fast in panjika or calender. you can then have the right time!
