Caitanya Mahaprabhu is worshipped before the chanting of the names of Lord Visnu. He is himself Sri Krsna-Caitanya who spread Vaisnavism and the chanting of the Holy Names. Jayadeva Goswami has composed a song about these 10 incarnations, and he is from before the appearance of Chaitanya. Many Puranas and acharyas also list the 10. This can be said for every avatar including those in the 10 like Vamana, Rama Krishna and the Buddha. If the concept of the dashavatara existed before the time of the Buddha and people knew he was an avatar, then there would be no Buddhism today.
