  1. Murali Mohan, I'm laughing my head off. I love that sketch! Haribol! Jai
  2. We should all be happy that Hindus in the USA are getting some recognition by the government. Northern Nevada, eh? I'll have to see it I can visit them at some point. I'd love to meet this brave priest. Jai
  3. Let them protest, it only shows them up to be bigots with no sense of the American ideals that they go on and on about. I'm simply very impressed that the Senate saw fit to use a Hindu priest to say the prayers in the first place. Bravo Senate! Haribol! Jai
  4. That's such a lovely picture, Prabhu. Obeisances for sharing it with us. Haribol! Jai
  5. Haribol! What is your name, Prabhu? You didn't say who you are but clearly I know you as you know about Kedarnath and my accident. My foot is fine now, the scar is almost invisible. How are you? Haribol! Jai
  6. Whoever is doing this is obviously ill in some way. No sane person of ordinary emotional intelligence would do such a thing. So they must be sociopaths who are probably very unhappy in their own lives. They must have no one to guide them or tell them what is right or wrong. That is what is so alarming about this. Those poor seal pups are the innocents in this but so are the ones perpertrating the crime. Something must be done to explain to them that this is not acceptable behaviour. Oh Krishna, please save those baby seals and the people hurting them. Haribol! Jai
  7. I agree with theist. These things take time and your habits will change as you become more involved with devotees. You also don't need an invitation to go to a temple. You are welcome no matter who or what you are. So go, sit before the lord and chant a few rounds. Talk to the devotees there. Buy some tapes of discourses and Gita classes and listen to them when you're at home or in your car. This is a great way to immerse yourself in Krishna Consciousness, even if you're busy doing other mundane jobs. Good luck and remember, none of us is perfect. Krishna is the only perfect one and his compassion is so great that he accepts us despite our faults. The fact that you have a desire to be a devotee means that Krishna has already decided that he wants you to serve him. So follow his desire and do what you can. Haribol! Jai
  8. I think it's silly to argue about the religious bigotry in India when compared to the Spanish conquistadors, the witch burnings of Europe, and the Crusades in the middle east. The Vaishnavs and Shaivas might disagree on certain matters of philosophy but we don't go around killing each other the way other religions do. So please, just stop it. Jai
  9. Wow, Guruvani, that is austerity. Obeisances. Haribol! Jai
  10. Is there no low they will not sink to? Shocking. Haribol! Jai
  11. Haribol! Vrindavan is the most holy destination we can go to. Not only is the land pure and divine but the association of the Vrajvasis (people of Vraj) is the sweetest nectar. I was listening to Sacidananda Maharaj's opinion of Vraj and he said that even if we're cursed by the Vrajvasis, we should accept it as a blessing. So if you get a chance to go to Vraj and associate with the devotees there then please do. I have been to Vraj and I have been fortunate enough to bathe in the Yamuna, visit Govardhan, take darshan of Gokul and Nandagaon and associate with the people of that holy dham. There is nothing like this pilgrimage in the world and I highly recommend it. This leads me to a point about pilgrimage. We don't go on pilgrimage simply to see the land. We go to imbibe the vibrations of the devotees and sants who live there. We go to partake of the austerities necessary when travelling. We go to humble ourselves before the greatness of Krishna's pastimes, to surrender ourselves to his lila and immerse ourselves in remembrance of his love. Pilgrimage is not easy, nor is it meant to be. If you go understanding this and are willing to embrace it, then you will be open to seeing the greatness of Vraj. However, if you feel that you are not ready then wait. You've waited all your lifetimes so why not wait some more? The simple truth is that when you chant Radha and Krishna's names they are with you and when they are with you, that place where you are becomes Vraj. You only will not get the association of the Vrajvasis. Haribol! Jai
  12. Awwww, he makes my heart melt. Those gorgeous eyes are so sweet and look at his cute little button mouth. Just like a baby. Awwww. Jai
  13. And have you read Forbidden Archaeology's Impact? It seems to me that the hysterical reaction the scientific community has had to FA is a lot stronger than it would be to something that was amateurish and quick. It's ridiculous to condemn something because someone else (who has been brainwashed to think a certain way) tells you so. Don't you have a mind of your own? I'm not trying to offend you. I'm just surprised that someone of your obvious reasoning skills would blindly accept what a lot of very flawed people with little evidence are saying. Have you seen the size of FA? You call that work quick? Mr Cremo has amassed tones of evidence in a contrary argument but you're prepared to ignore it in favour of blind obedience to the academic dogma. You do realise that those people have turned their scientific theories into religious dogma? Science is supposed to be the pursuit of truth but it's not about truth to them. It's about protecting their careers with another injection of cash for their pointless research. Believe me, I've seen it happen where a scientist will write papers supporting theories that he knows are incorrect, simply because he will recieve money for the research. In other words, they are propagating LIES on a daily basis and feeding those same lies to the public. Not all scientists are like that but it happens much more often than you think. Jai
  14. Haribol! I'm back from my tour and was able to experience the incredible beauty of the southwestern states of America. I visited the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, the mountains of Utah and the gorgeous mystic land of Taos, New Mexico. The people at these areas were just as beautiful as the land they occupy and I was able to connect with many locals and share the book with them. I met devotees and had darshan at some of the temples in these areas too which made this not just a book tour but a pilgrimage. I feel so fortunate that Krishna has given me this opportunity to associate with his devotees. There is a lovely Hanuman Temple in Taos that was founded by the disciples of Neem Karoli Babaji in 1978. The satsang and seva that continues there to this day is ecstatic and filled with love. I pray that I will again have the chance the visit Hanuman as his home in Taos. Right now I'm trying to sort out my next tour to the northwestern states. Haribol! Jai
  15. Haribol, I'm coming to the discussion late, prabhus, but I wanted to mention Michael Cremo's book The Hidden History of the Human Race. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning more about evolution and the origins of man. This book is actually a condensed version of his much larger book called Forbidden Archaeology. Jai
  16. Haribol! As far as I know, he meditates of the name of his Ishta Dev, Lord Rama. Jai
  17. Is this for real? If so then wow! Haribol, Prabhu. Please accept my humble obeisances for your amazing service. With your wonderful actions, something good may come out of this terrible war. I am very poor (struggling writer) and therefore cannot give you any donations but I do wish you and the soldiers the very best. Jai Jagganath! Jai
  18. Even Lord Shiva wears dreadlocks! You're right, it's a fascinating topic. I always loved Bob Marley's look. Jai
  19. Everyone's mentioning song lyrics. I just love Paul Weller's masterpiece "You do something to me." I always think of Krishna when I hear it. "You do something to me, something deep inside. I'm hanging on the wire, for love I'll never find. You do something wonderful, you chase it all away. Fixing my emotions, its throws me back again. Hanging on the wire, yeah, I'm waiting for my change. I'm dancing through the fire, just to catch your flame. To feel again. "Hanging on the wire, yeah, said I"m waiting for the change. Yeah I'm dancing through the fire, just to catch your flame. To feel again. "You do something to me, somewhere deep inside. I'm hoping to get close to, a peace I cannot find. Dancing through the fire, yeah, just to catch your flame. Just to get close to, just close enough to tell you that - You do something to me, something deep inside." Isn't it so beautiful? I love that song! Haribol! Jai
  20. Haribol! As a woman, I would like to say that a man looks most attractive when he's in a dhoti. Rama never wore anything else and neither did Krishna. Jai
  21. This is a fascinating thread. Thank you. Haribol! Jai
  22. Wow! This is like what is mentioned in our shastra, that there were yogis who could heal with touch and create fire out of their hands. The main point, I suppose, is that none of this is necessary if we are devotees of Krishna. Still, it's nice to see that these abilities can still be achieved through the correct course of meditation. He even says that everyone can do this by using the correct technique. Haribol! Jai </PARAM> </PARAM></EMBED></OBJECT></P>
  23. Thank you, this is wonderful to know. Some follow Krishna but Krishna follows Radha. Beautiful. Haribol! Jai
  24. I have no intention of arguing with you. You're following the instructions of your guru and that's fine. My opinion is that I will never reject a Vaishnav. I don't understand how anyone can do that. So she was not in your sampradaya, does that mean she doesn't count? You said yourself that Srila Prabhupada had no objection to her songs. In other words, he never rejected her. Her songs were not established in the mission because, as you said, she was not a part of your sampradaya. But Srila Prabhupada never rejected her. He was greater than that. I don't think any pure devotee would reject a Vaishnav. Prahalad never even rejected his demonic father. Prahalad, as a pure devotee, saw Shri Hari in everything and everyone and that included his father. If he'd rejected his father, he never would have obeyed the orders to die, over and over again. Did he struggle when they made him sit on the fire? Did he fight the men who were stabbing him with spears? Prahalad was a pure devotee and thus saw Shri Hari in everyone. Mirabai was a disciple of Ravi Das, who was a disciple of Ramananda Acharya, who was a disciple of Raghavananda acharya, who was a descendent of Ramanuja. She belonged to that sampradaya. You're correct, she was not a disciple of Jiva Goswami, nor did she meet him. She met with Sanatan Goswami and enjoyed satsang with him. I was told this by a descendent of Ramananda Acharya's lineage who still resides at Panch Ganga Ghat in Kashi. At the end of the day, I don't think it matters whether or not you accept or reject her. All she wanted was Krishna and he accepted her as he accepts all who love him with pure hearts. That's what counts. Haribol! Jai
  25. I have observed that he has impersonal ideas but I've also observed that he loves Mira. If he loves Mira then he loves Krishna. Anyone who loves Krishna is a Vaishnav and deserves the utmost respect. Haribol! Jai
