  1. Wow, this thread is still kicking. Thanks for the advice everyone. For the last couple of months it seems as if though the mice have left. Initially I was using traps, but after encountering a mouse squeaking for its life, that was more than enough for my heart to take. Finally, I did some cleaning, especially in the kitchen...so no more mice *knock on wood*.

  3. You can't compare David Blane's feats with this sadhus'. Blane faced impending death if he lost balance for a fraction of a second, did not get a chance to sleep, and did not have a blanket to shield him from the cold. While this sadhu has the opportunity to walk around, sleep, and use the bathroom. I'm suprised this sadhu does not have any circulation problems of blood clots forming in his legs.

  6. Conversely, we can study the arguments of Lord Chaitanya with the Pathans, in which He conclusively proved (by quoting the Qur'an) that Allah was of a dark colour and that there are descriptions of karma, jnana and bhakthi within the Qur'an. Can you point me to the documented arguments between Lord Chaitanya and the Pathans and where in the Qur'an the descriptions are stated?

  8. Hi, I am new to Krishna Consciousness. My name is Amar, I am 21 years old and studying Electrical Engineering at Georgia Tech. My hobbies include reading Srila Prabhupada's books and listening to his lectures.
  9. Interesting paper on his true identity. http://www.viewzone.com/abraham.html

  11. In Kothari's case, the effect of the NDE unfolded only later. After being discharged from the hospital, he could not recognize anyone for six months. He remembered the past vaguely. Then began the onslaught of deities. Kothari claims to have seen various deities sitting face to face with him in his house: "I used to see huge forms of Krishna, Buddha, Mahavira. One day, to my surprise, I saw millions of Lord Krishnas on my body, almost in each cell. If I looked down on the floor I could see 100 miles under the ground." Kothari asked the deities to explain the purpose of what was happening to him. Then began the flow of advice from them in the form of verses where he was supposedly given the secret of creation. Till date, 41,000 verses have been dictated to him. Similarly for Kothari, post-NDE, death lost its terror and a spiritual quest started. Though still a globetrotting businessman, he gives religious discourses every evening and conducts spiritual awakening programs. Based on the knowledge passed on to him by the deities, Kothari has written Samkaleen Geeta, that was given to him by the cosmic voice when he asked for a simple path to salvation in the modern age. His other books include Krishna Leela, Agna Gnan, Prana Veda, and Bhakta Bhagwat. When taken over by the cosmic voice, Kothari speaks in various Indian languages like Marathi, Gujarati, Urdu, Sanskrit, some of which he doesn't otherwise know. Is death painful? "No," says Kothari, "It is absolutely painless. God is the best surgeon and anesthesiologist who takes out life without pain." -- I tried contacting him at the email listed at the end of the article, but it does not work. A search on google didn't turn up anything. Anyone heard of him before, I would like to know more about the deities he was contacted by and the books that he wrote http://www.lifepositive.com/Spirit/death/nde.asp
  12. Sorry for asking such an elementary question, but is the following kirtan, Jaya-Radha-Madhava, in Hindi or Sanskrit? jaya râdha-mâdhava kunja-bihârî gopî-jana-vallabha, giri-vara-dhârî Yasoda-nandana braja-jana-ranjana yamunâ-tîra-vana-cârî and what about the rest of the kirtans at this site, http://www.srimadbhagavatam.org/music/devotional.html, are most in Hindi or Sanskrit?
  13. What if a burglar breaks into my house? Am I obligated to provide him with a place to sleep in my guest room, free meals, etc.? Better yet, why don't I let his entire family move in with me. Of course in this situation, I would call the police to remove the burglar from my house. But with mice, insects, pests, etc., the process is not that easy. What if my house turns into a zoo, making it unsafe to live in? Of course I will try all non-lethal means to remove them first, but there is a point where killing is necessary.

  15. I have a rodent infestation in my house. I have used mouse traps, but they're not effective. I feel real guilty doing it, but I see no other means to get rid of them. In these circumstances is it ok to kill them, maybe by having an exterminator come over?

  17. In a samadhi state and drowned in the Bliss of Krishn love, he is still in his cave in the Himalayas, covered under a glacier and is totally inaccessible to human beings. There is a reference of his personal meeting with Shankaracharya 2,500 years ago, and another reference is about 500 years ago (in the books of Pushti Marg) when Vallabhacharya, using his Divine powers, went to the cave of Ved Vyas and stayed there three days, talking about the charming Blissfulness of Krishn and His flute as described in the verse of the tenth canto of the Bhagwatam. http://www.encyclopediaofauthentichinduism.org/articles/56_the_decension_of.htm Anyone know more about Vallabhacharya? I know that he was a contemporary of Lord Chaitanya and is considered a partial incarnation of Vishnu.

  20. where? are you talking about physically present?
  21. I came across this site: http://www.urday.com/24avtaar5.htm#par and it says that Sage Vyasa was the 19th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It says that he appeared before Ram, if this is true, how could he have compiled the conversation between Krishna and Arjuna at Kurukshetra, when Krishna had not appeared on Earth yet?
  22. hdjvek, In my town there is a BAPS Swaminarayan Temple. I have visited it a couple of times and have noticed that the latest acharaya is Pramukh Swami Maharaj. Another thing is that almost 100% of the devotees are Gujarati. Could you share some of your knowledge on this sampradaya and how it relates to the other two in the Swaminarayan faith?
  23. If Vaisnavas consider Lord Krishna to be Supreme and Lord Swaminaryan considered him to be equal to Krishna, while his followers considered him greater, are we to believe Vaisnavas because Lord Krishna appeared first approximately 5000 years ago and Lord Swaminaryan appeared a mere 220 years ago? If it was predicted that Lord Chaitanya would be the avatar in this yuga, why wasn't Lord Swaminaryan mentioned or given any consideration? Can we assume that the Swaminarayans are not correct?
