  1. What is a good edition, in your opinion, of the Mahabharata?

Some aren't very good at all, and I would really appreciate it if someone can help me, to tell me a good edition :)

    thank you so much :)

P.s. I bought one that is a "summary", so I at least know some about the Mahabharata before I really study it :)

    Edit:

I just wanted also to say,

thank you to everyone here. You've really welcomed me,

and have done nothing but help me.

I really appreciate you guys, and I wish you all the blessing that Krishna can bestow upon you :)

    Haribol!

  2. I have a dream question too.

I dream that Krishna comes to me in my dreams, and sits with me and tells me loving things, that he's happy I found him in my life, etc.

Do you think He really is coming to me? Or is it just a dream?

  3. Bholaji finds himself in dire trouble. His business has gone bust and he's in serious financial trouble. He's so desperate that he decides to ask Ganesh for help. He goes into the temple and begins to pray.

“Oh Ganesh, please help me, I've lost my business and if I don't get some money, I'm going to lose my house as well. Please let me win the lottery.”

Lotto night comes and somebody else wins it. Bholaji goes back to the temple. "Ganesh please let me win the lotto. I've lost my business, my house and I'm going to lose my car as well.”Lotto night comes and Bholaji still has no luck. Back to the temple he goes. "My Ganesh, why have you forsaken me? I've lost my business, my house, my car and my wife and children are starving. I don't often ask you for help and I have always been a good servant to you. Why won't you just let me win the lotto this one time so I can get my life back in order?"

Suddenly there is a blinding flash of light as the sky parts open and Bholaji is confronted by the voice of God: "Bholaji, buy a lottery ticket first."

  4. The user on this forum (HI DWAYNE!!!!) sent me several links about the Centre!

I did go down there, but only drove by. It is GORGEOUS. More beautiful than I imagined! I couldn't stop (my appointment) but while I was driving to my appointment, I cried, I was so happy!

I'm very excited about going soon :)

I hope they don't mind, but I can chant for HOURS :)

My Buddhist friend Nicole even calls me "the chanter" haha!

  5. It is absoluely true, 100%, that your prayers will be answered if you do not pray for material things for yourself.

I believe it was 2 or 3 summers ago (correct me if I'm wrong) when a lot of chlidren here in the US were missing, and killed.... Why I didn't pray for them? I don't know. I really don't know. But one day I saw on the news that a little girl was kidnapped and missing. I was heartbroken, I was in tears, crying all day.

I got on my hands and knees and prayed and prayed and prayed all day and all night for the safe return for that little girl.

Most of the time (God forbid, God forbid), the children that are kidnapped get killed. The statistics in the US show that.

BUT! That little girl came home SAFE and UNHARMED to her family!

& what happened when I prayed for only material things (in the past, no more do I do that)????

    NOTHING.

So, it is 100% that God will hear you.

You may not get everything (because everyone has their own time for living and dying and rebirth), but God will definetely hear you.

    God bless!

    HARE KRISHNA!

  6. Thank you so much to Kamalasana and to Guest.

Kamalasana - I am so happy that you have such a wonderful time!

Now I am looking even more forward to going!!!

I hope that I can go there often. It is about an hour and a half away from my house, so I wouldn't be able to go regularly, but I will try my best :)

I am also a mother that stays at home (My daughter is 21 months old, 2 years old in July), so it is hard for me to really go out. I'm sure you understand.

There is not many people that can help me with my daughter. My husband of course, works during the day, and at night I have dinner ready for him, and put the baby to sleep. Over the weekend we spend together as a family. Sundays would be perfect to go, since my husband is home Saturdays and Sundays from work.

My husband believes in Judaism, and naturally I believe in Krishna.

But you know what? It works out perfectly fine. He loves the fact that I find such bliss and happiness and love with Lord Krishna and His followers.

A friend of mine is a Buddhist, and she is very open to everything. Right now she is on a cruise (LUCKY!), and when she gets back, I'll see if she would like to attend with me (so my husband can watch our daughter). Since the Centre is an hour and a half away, it'll be nice to have some company for the drive (and to also know someone else there!)

God bless all of you :)

  7.

Well that is a nice way to 'not' encourage?

I think that when he is in India - he shall see Krishna - somewhere. He is still seen nearly 'everywhere' there - right?

I'm praying that Lord Krishna reaches out to him and leaves a lasting impression - enough so - that he seeks out Srila Prabhupada's Books etc., yes - it is possible and - it is needed for himself and - our world.

I'm not saying that he's going to convert or anything [but we can hope] but he shall - with God's Grace broaden his perview in spiritual matters.

He is going to experiance the dynamic Krishna - within his own heart.

Also - if there are jobs going to India - so what!?

The west has had it all - [to some measure] at the expense of other countries [like India] - so now we have to include them.

Of course there is the issues of 'slave labor' in these countries - in terms of very low pay - but - it is a start.

Countries like India have a lot to offer and they have needs too - so we have to accept that we do live in a global economy and - in this regard we have to continue to make the right adjustments - to this global economy - that each part 'neatly' serves the others - that is the goal for the future.

We cannot look at our western economies as being strong - at the expense of these other's.

So in that regard - if Mr. Bush is going to send some jobs to India [and other places] - that is very good.

So while Mr. Bush is in India I'm praying that Krishna reaches out to him...

    YS,

    BDM

This American completely agrees with you :)

  8. Haribol!

Today I had a dentist appointment, and I decided to leave my house a little bit early, so I could locate the ISKCON center here in Los Angeles.

I did find it, and it's beautiful! I didn't have any time to stop and come in, because I had an appointment that I did not want to be late for.

Before I go in, I want to learn a little about what to expect, who to talk to, and most important - how my appearance should be.

Whenever I go anywhere, I always tell myself: "How would you dress if you were to meet Sri Krishna?" Of course I don't dress like I'm going to a ball,

but I dress nice enough, so people don't throw coins at me..

I was thinking about calling first, to possibly meet with someone there, so they can help me, show me around, let me know what they do there.

Do you think this is a good idea?

And also.. in your experience, what happens at a Centre, and also

what should I know before I go? (How to greet, how to behave, etc).

    Thank you!

    -Jenna

  9. I do not eat meat at all.

I gave up all meats but chicken until a month ago.

I don't eat eggs, I don't eat chocolate (only because I have a mild allergy to chocolate.. so it doesn't matter if the dietary law has changed or notm I won't eat it anyway).

And I also don't drink milk.

    But is cheese okay?

I really love cheese (love love love!).. but if it's not okay to eat cheese, I will happily give that up, too.

    Thanks!

    -Jenna

  10. Haribol!

Currently I am growing my hair long, as long as it can be,

so I can donate it to the Locks Of Love organization. I do have a question, however. I wish to donate my hair in our loving Sri Krishna's honor.

Will He accept this act, in honor of His glorious name?

    Thank you!

    -Jenna
