ramji,
I am not an educated person. I can't even remember how English sentences are properly diagramed. So what do I know of Brahma Samhita? I have read our English translation and Bhaktisiddhanta's purports. I can't match the sanskrit against the English or the purports to the text. I do accept however that a pure devotee of Krsna can reveal Radha Krsna to me through a simple stone on the ground, should my faith allow and should he grant me that mercy. So I have no problem with Radha and Krsna being revealed through some verse even though to the untrained eye it may appear They are not there.
This much I believe I understand. I am eternally a separated particle of God. At the same time I am sharing a oneness with that God.
From what I understand this is not taught by Sankara but is by Caitanya.
The GV acaryas speak of variegated worlds beyond the brahmajyoti. Advaita proponents do not. That is a major difference.
I'm not sure what goes in in sankara mutts but impersonalism in its various forms is pervading the world philosophies in. I consider it very dangerous.
Most of us in the world are not sophisticated enough to see the danger on our own. That is why Prabhupada spoke so strongly on this issue. He was protecting us.
ram you have such a strong and agile brain. But sometimes you must let it rest. During those times just turn your higher intution towards the Lord in the heart. It's from that place that the answers to these deep philosophical questions will flow .
Please forgive my arrogance in offering unsought advice. It is not really my place I know.

i think gaudiya acharyas teach covered advaitam.
Too many books from too many sources perhaps ram. They are not saying the same thing and there is no need to try to force some harmony where real differences exist.

How offenseive to use to use xtian instead of Christian. Sectarianist are the greatest stumbling block to progress.

I think it is just easier.

What obstacle can be overcome by worshiping Ganesh that the name of Krsna can't carry us beyond.

What could possibly be gained by Lalitprasada by fabricating this testimony from his father? Now if the document stated something like "Only you Lalita are qualified to carry on my lineage" I might be more suspect. But as it is I can see no advantage.

I once mentioned that I had always thought of AC Bhaktivedanta as a sadhana-siddha. You would have thought I had called him a foul name by the reaction.
Now it seems everyones guru is some manjari that descended from Goloka just to pick them up.I don't know. The whole subject is far over my head.
Anyway Bhaktivinode appears to have eatten meat in his early life. Doesn't bother me in the least. I mean does it lessen the beauty of Jaiva Dharma in some way?

A competitionless, God centered society. It is a good idea but one that can't be forced. It needs to become inspired into existence. A revolution of the interior section of humankind.
I admit to not having much hope for Earth in the near term. I haven't be able to get myself past wanting to lord it over others.
It would be nice to live in a society where the need to exploit and compete over usless things was not so intense as the one I'm in now though.

The world is getting crazier and crazier; there may not be room for a George out there now.
gHari, now there is P.Diddy, M&M, and Little Kim to lead the world's youth. You are right, George doesn't fit.

There used to be a prasadam distribution everyday at Peoples Park, but I'm not sure if that is ongoing now or not.
Across the Bay I have even less of an idea as to what's happening.

Tirisilex,
I live in Berserkeley Ca and see it everyday. People walking around talking to demons and other imagined things. Totally dishevled and with nowhere to sleep. Some are rather dangerous at times. I see the same folks sometimes for years and can notice their changes even though I keep my distance. Usually they get worse and noticably more angry with time.
This is due to our attempt at respecting their freedom. That is important but not to the point where they can't care for themselves, which most cannot. They get picked up from time to time, taken to a hospital where they receive medication. After they stablize for a few days they go back on the street and the cycle repeats.
I do accept astral entity possession but consider it rare. I also suspect that the illness makes them more suseptible to such.

TRANSLATION Adi 10.11
These four brothers and their family members fully engaged in the service of Lord Caitanya. They knew no other god or goddess.
PURPORT
Srila Narottama däsa Thäkura has said, anya-deväçraya näi, tomäre kahinu bhäi, ei bhakti parama-käraëa: if one wants to become a pure, staunch devotee, one should not take shelter of any of the demigods or -goddesses. Foolish Mäyävädis say that worshiping demigods is as good as worshiping the Supreme Personality of Godhead, but that is not a fact. This philosophy misleads people to atheism. One who has no idea what God actually is thinks that any form he imagines or any rascal he accepts can be God. This acceptance of cheap gods or incarnations of God is actually atheism. It is to be concluded, therefore, that those who worship demigods or self-proclaimed incarnations of God are all atheists. They have lost their knowledge, as confirmed in the Bhagavad-gétä (7.20): kämais tais tair håta-jïänäù prapadyante nya-devatäù.Those whose minds are distorted by material desires surrender unto demigods.Unfortunately, those who do not cultivate Krsna consciousness and do not properly understand the Vedic knowledge accept any rascal to be an incarnation of God, and they are of the opinion that one can become an incarnation simply by worshiping a demigod. This philosophical hodge-podge exists under the name of the Hindu religion, but the Krsna consciousness movement does not approve of it. Indeed, we strongly condemn it. Such worship of demigods and so-called incarnations of God should never be confused with the pure Krsna consciousness movement.

So can't we understand why people think all philosophies from India are poly-theistic?
-
..nothing like a good dose of sectarian bickering. But why not, that's why God made the material world.
To some on this thread from both camps. Here is an assignment for you. Get your dictionaries out and look up the word rapport. It's essential to sharing knowledge from one person to another. If that is really the goal that is.

Hi debbie,
That's the kind of soy milk I use as well. Vanilla is also my favorite. Soy products are getting much better. To me they haven't quite reached the taste of cows milk unless they are flavored. Although there is this ice cream called Soy Delicious which is just as good as regular ice cream.
There are various types of non-dairy cheeses out there. I've tried a few and like them. But I'm not familiar enough to recommend a particular brand. Try some and let me know what is good to you.
Nice to hear you are trying the chanting.

Christian,
You made some good points that are worthy of discussion. You also showed some misconceptions of your own. For instance most of the people that post here are monotheistic.
From your post I got the impression that dialogue wasn't really your intent on posting. Perhaps I'm wrong. If I am wrong let me know and we can have a conversation.
Praise Jesus and the Father(who we call Krishna)

Of course he himself had received sannyasa from a GV sannyasi so one would imagine that he would himself know the proper mantra to give.
Far be it for me to know. Just thinking that the word legend sounds a bit more like gossip.

Scarey strange stuff. Who will be first I wonder. In ten years I can envision some companies offering faces of Elvis(young Elvis)for sale in Las Vegas. Premade, slap on in a day.
One day you are Elmer Fudd, the next day Elvis.

I can't find my catalog for Krsna culture. Can someone kindly post it so debbie can order some beads?
debbie krishna culture is a Krishna conscious mail order spot for getting books tapes beads etc. I have dealt a lot with them and they are quite nice.
Someone will post up a contact number or address for them.
Have you memorized the mantra yet? Out loud works best for me.

Oh what fun. I'm caught in this space where I don't want to serve God but I see that it is hopeless to make elaborate plans in this world. So I use TV as a drug of distraction. But even that is so painfully stupid I have to search for one *good* show out of hundreds.
I need the grace of a higher taste.

debbie, is there a Sandy Ridge in NC?

Life isn't boring. Our approach to life is. Krsna is everywhere and within everything. Everywhere He is revealing Himself. The problem is we have been approaching life with an eye to being the central enjoyer. It doesn't work and we become despondent.
Even if one doesn't want to actively serve, still just appreciating the glory of God's creation will keep us in a state of constant amazment and wonder.
The other night listening to the radio I heard this astronomer describing the advantages of the Hubble telescope. He mentioned that when it was focused on an area of so-called black space (areas in space where previously we could detect nothing) the size of a quarter to our naked eyes as we view space, they suddenly could see thousands of galaxies. Upon contemplating this we should become stunned and our hair should stand on end at the revelation of what is only an infitesimal fragment of God's glories.Gita ch. 11
Bored means we have yet to be granted the eyes to see God or even to appreciate him in His universal creation. For that we must pray "Oh Lord of the universe kindly be visible unto me". When we receive divine eyes we will be done with being bored.
I sympathize. I am bored a lot. We need to break through, to the dynamic side, by His grace.
