And if someone places a hamburger in front of you I suppose that God wanted that cow slaughtered for you so you should eat the hamburger. Ever see a peyote button? That white fuzzy stuff on the outside of it is strychnyne. Is that God telling us not to take it?
  2. One could argue that having nukes is what has kept the Arabs from launching another full scale attack on Israel.
  3. I received this baptism, though not full immersion. Some drops on the head. Can only help in the search for the inner baptism of a drop of the love Radha has for Krishna. May Her love for Syama wash over us all.
  4. And since Krishna is within everyone and everyone is part of Krishna we must be careful, I believe, in how we make distinctions. Of course there is variety in the spiritual conception along with oneness. Krishna may have chosen to reveal Himself to you primarily through one certain being. But that should not negate a service attitude towards all others should it? So I am thinking that there must be a wide range of service attitudes existing compatibly on the absolute plane.
  5. That's scary stuff. Have we all entered this gate at some point in our distant past? Got it paz
  6. Prabhupäda: Jesus Christ, Lord Jesus Christ, is... He is son of God, the best son of God, so we have all respect for him. Yes. Anyone who is teaching people about God consciousness, he is respectful to us. It does not matter in which country, in which atmosphere, he was preaching. It doesn’t matter. Madhudviña: (repeating question) St. Francis, the founder of this particular order which we have been invited to speak to, found God in the material world. And he used to address the aspects of the material world as “brother” and “sister.” “Brother tree,” “sister water,” like that. What is your view upon this? Prabhupäda: This is real God consciousness. This is real God consciousness, yes, not that “I am God conscious, and I kill the animals.” That is not God conscious. To accept the trees, plants, lower animals, insignificant ants even, as brothers... Samaù sarveñu bhüteñu. This is explained in the Bhagavad-gétä. brahma-bhütaù prasannätmä na çocati na käìkñati samaù sarveñu bhüteñu [bg. 18.54] Samaù. Samaù means equal to all living entities, to see the spirit soul, anyone... It doesn’t matter whether he is man or cat or dog or tree or ant or insect or big man. They are all parts and parcel of God. They are simply dressed differently. One has got the dress of tree; one has got the dress of king; one has got the, insect. That is also explained in the Bhagavad-gétä. Paëòitäù sama-darçinaù: [bg. 5.18] “One who is paëòita, learned, his vision is equal.” So if St. Francis was thinking like that, that is highest standard of spiritual understanding. Similar expression is there in the Caitanya-caritämåta, that sthävara-jaìgama dekhe nä dekhe tära mürti. A spiritually advanced devotee of the Lord, he sees the trees or the animals or the stone or the anything he sees—he sees that it is the energy of God. Nä dekhe tära mürti. Just like your mürti or my mürti—mürti means form—may be little different, but we are made of the same ingredients. If your body surgically operated, the same blood, stone, or bone, or flesh, everything is there the same because same ingredients. Similarly, our outward covering is covered by these material elements, but inside, within this, there is the spirit soul. Therefore one who is advanced, he does not see that “This is cat, this is dog, this is man, this is elephant, and this is brähmaëa, this is this...” No. He sees the soul, that “Here is the soul, part and parcel of God.” That is his vision. Paëòitäù sama-darçinaù [bg. 5.18]. So that is God realization. God is spirit, Supreme Spirit, and he is part and parcel, the living entities. That is real vision. Paëòitäù. Paëòitäù means learned.
  7. Actually dear guest I wasn't pointing a finger at anyone. It was towards a particular mindset of mine and others, one that I have become tired off.
  8. No, he was a Muslim from Pakistan who refused to hear that mono-theism (vaisnavism) can be found in India. I figure it is important from him to keep that atitude. It is the foundation for his hatred towards Hindus and apparently he doesn't want to lose that. Hatred and anger can give one a sense of life, motivation and purpose. We can become very attached to holding on to these emotions. So much so they actually come to like a part of us. To give them up feels like a death.
  9. Easy to talk about but I suspect very hard to do. It is difficult to live a simple life these days. I have a lot of respect for ISCOWP and people like them. They roll up their sleeves, put the back, sweat and blood into it. I'm just going to take the easy way out and remain vegan.
  10. Arguing is basically useless. In the so-called debates of today no one ever admits when a superior point is made by the other party. It is mostly my false pride vs. yours. In such a duel both are destined to lose. Is it worth another birth? I am weary of this silliness. Sometimes arguing and challenging can be fruitful for others listening. The conclusions of atheistic scientists and their proponents should be challenged for instance. But by those who are well versed. So many simple and sincere folks around who may actually want to hear. Better I don't try to reach too far beyond my pay grade.
  11. I doubt it was said like that. But this thing makes me wonder if foregoing formal Deity worship wouldn't make sense in Moslem countries. A picture of Panca-tattva and chanting before it. I spoke to a man from Pakistan today at the print shop and I tried just to explane that there is mono-theism also that some take as coming under the banner of Hinduism. Got nowhere. He already "knows everything about that Hinduism."
  12. I doubt he said that. He probably said "yes the food is offered to Krishna" and the pagan idol . was put in by the reporter. What horrible karma to come under the influence of these Muslim fanatics. Devotees who are brave enough to preach in these countries should have their feet bathed in pure sandlewood oil and I pray for a drop of that prasad to be placed on my head.
  13. The solution as I see it is that all milk from non-protected cows should be avoided. Right now that is more than 99.9999% of the cows in the West. In the West at one time everyone traveled by horse. The horse was indespensible. The came the car,the horseless carriage. The horse has not gone extinct. But the numbers have reduced to a different proportion, a managable one. Cows in the West are artifically impregnated and the numbers of cows are artifically high to supply the demand of the meat-eaters. At this rate as the human population grows the number of cows produced will also have to increase. Where will the land come from? It takes so much land to grow the grain to feed to the cows. It takes huge amounts of water to raise animals for food. Their waste is a major problem. We are on the verge of a major ecological disaster. Please, Do Not Buy Milk From Unprotected Sources.

to mine in some ways. I had become so much of an atheist that I never discussed the topic or even thought about it. LSD and other pyschedelic compounds helped open me up. Eventually I have adopted the Hare Krsna mantra. After chanting for a little time I started to feel like drugs were taking me backwards. The chanting is complete in itself. But you don't need to stop drugs before starting to chant. We can chant from any position in life. It does not depend on belief. Just chant. Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare Here you will find the Gita and many other books on-line. After going to a particular chapter if you click on the underlined verse you will go to the original sanskrit and commentary by AC Bhaktivedanta Swami. Bookmark this one. http://www.vedabase.net
  15. Yes, a pivot point in our material journey. Many people have lived their whole lives as meat eaters, many as vegans. I really like Kulapavana's emphasis on our need to make the choice to rise or fall. That ability and indeed responsibility rests with the human form alone.
  16. Letter to Krsnadasa 1972 excerpt: But because you have asked me, I am your spiritual master, I must try to answer to your satisfaction. Yes, sometimes in Vedas such things like the asura's decapitated head chasing after Candraloka, sometimes it is explained allegorically. Just like now we are explaining in 4th Canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam the story of King Puranjana. Just like the living entity is living within this body, and the body is described there as city with nine gates, the intelligence as the Queen. So there are sometimes allegorical explanations. So there are many things which do not corroborate with the so-called modern science, because they are explained in that way. But where is the guarantee that modern science is also correct? So we are concerned with Krishna Consciousness, and even though there is some difference of opinion between modern science and allegorical explanation in the Bhagavat, we have to take the essence of Srimad-Bhagavatam and utilize it for our higher benefit, without bothering about the correctness of the modern science or the allegorical explanation sometimes made in Srimad-Bhagavatam. But this is a fact that in each and every planet there is a predominant deity, as we have got experience in this planet there is a president, so it is not wonderful when the predominating deity fights with another predominating deity of another planet. The modern science takes everything as dead stone. We take it for granted that everything is being manipulated by a person in each and every affair of the cosmology. The modern scientists however could not make any progress in the understanding of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, therefore we do not accept modern science as very perfect. We take Krishna's version: gam avisya ca bhutani dharayamy aham ojasa pusnami causadhih sarvah somo bhutvah rasatmakah (BG, 15.13) ``I become the moon,'' and ``yac chandramasi yac cagnau,'' (ibid, 12) ``I am the splendor of the moon,'' and ``jyotisam api taj jyotis,'' (BG, 13.18) ``I am the source of light in all luminous objects,'' so no one is able to give us the correct information than Krishna, that you should know.... ...``Jnanam jneyam jnana-gamyam,'' (ibid), Krishna is knowledge, He is the object of knowledge, He is the goal of knowledge, and you mam evam asammudho janati purusottamam sa sarva-vid bhajati mam (BG, XV, 19) ``Whoever knows Me as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, without doubting, is to be understood as the knower of everything, and he engages himself therefore in devotional service''--this is the understanding of advanced devotee, so my best advice to you is to agree to come to this understanding. Your ever well-wisher, A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami
  17. I supported the war and am glad Saddam is gone. Not for the WMD arguement but for the sake of the Iraqi people. But I'm am doubting their readiness or even willness to accept their own version of a demoncracy. I oftenn wonder when I see them dancing in the streets before the cameras with their AK 47's if they aren't just really bored.
  18. Krsna is as He is because He wants to be. There is no external reason. I think should we ever be so fortunate to see Him we won't be looking for hidden meanings or other causes for the nature of His being. He is the Cause of all causes.
  19. If we chant and pray continously world peace will follow without separate endeavor. Otherwise we can se war as a motivator to preach and become liberated. I can understand the motivation to pray for peace. We all hold that as a desire in our hearts. But more importantly is to pray and chant for pure love of God. We must hold the goal firmly in place even if for now we have mixed desires. Peace will follow like flowers blooming with the sunrise. Hare Krsna
  20. Some speculate that man's brain developed to such a degree due to the extra meat protein he ate. But this theory seems to be a contradiction to itself.
  21. Animal rights activists ask pope to save Easter lambs The Associated Press Publication 03/28/99 ROME (AP) - Every Easter, about 2 million baby lambs end up on Italian dinner tables, animal rights activists said. This year, they're asking the pope to stop the slaughter. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals on Saturday asked Pope John Paul II to "appeal to the faithful . . . and save the lives of millions of lambs, symbols of innocent love, candor and tenderness." The letter from PETA's Italian representative, Walter Caporale, said about 2 million newborn lambs are slaughtered every Easter in Italy. Roast baby lamb accompanied by potatoes and artichokes or asparagus is a traditional Easter meal in Italy, along with a dove-shaped cake. 22. Why don't they have some public debates with the Krsna bhaktas and let the people chose?
  23. One reason is that they have rejected the spiritual side from the beginning of their investigations. A good example is DNA Crick. He ha soent his life looking for the self within the brain. He can't find it amongst the neyrons so what does he include? That the self must be of a subtler make up from what we call matter. No he concludes the self doesn't exist and is just and illusion.
