Sorry I didn't see the movie pardner. Did they have the shootout at the OK corral? I missed the huckleberry thing also. Maybe I will see it one day. To me it is very black and white. Yes he preach cow protection. Now that instruction doesn't mean to imitate him exactly but rather to protect the cows and take the milk from those protected cows and offer it to Krsna. I like Priyavrata's approach very much. It's not milk or no milk, it's protected cows or tortured cows. Your "take it up with him" comment I'll pass on replying to. "You have until sundown"

I know they have a farm where the devotees who run really seem on top of things, They also have a website. I'm sure many know of it its called COWSP or something like that. I thought also that if they could dry it and sell it as powder, it could really take off. Ahimsa milk. From one location they could ship anywhere and the powdered form would simplify that greatly. It seems a natural and ideal occupation for devotees. The potential is astronomical. The example tremendous. But I know these things are much easier to speculate about than do. It's hard to be simple in kali-yuga.

OK Wyatt, but I have always enjoyed the thunder. Even as a little boy I loved the way it filled me with awe and wonder and now it still does while reminding me of Krsna. So bring it on if that suits you but you will have to do more than the huffin' and puffin' that you have put forth so far. Distancing myself from Prabhupada? Or admitting that a distance exists? I don't think he needs one more person quoting him and pretending to be his discple and spokesperson. So I like to clarify the position to avoid misconceptions. The word hypocrite has a particular meaning. Preach one thing while not doing it yourself. If someone preaches cow protection then they should be protecting cows. Right? My point is the commercial dairies that devottees patronize do not protect cows. Quite the opposite. They torture and slaughter them. By patronizing their service to that extent they work for you. You feel justied in doing this and I disagree. That's all. Each individual will have to make up their own mind.

he is obviously trying to establish bridges among people of faith. I see this a very nice indeed.

I know nothing of the condition or the medications involve. But the hawthorne berrie has been shown to cause the heart tissue to regenerate itself over time. Co-Q-10 also has value for the heart. But these may have little or no effect on your specific condition. Do some research on them and other herbs and alternatives like accupuncture, collect some data and discuss it with your physican before trying. Good luck.

The "you" refers to anyone who drinks commercial and simultaneous tells people in society that they must protect the cows. I don't even know who you are let alone the facts of your life. Apparently you don't realize that even if nobody ate meat but everybody used dairy products the cows would still be killed. They would be killed. The price may rise or the govt. may subsidize more The interdependence of these two slaughter industry is now such that they are so intertwined as to be one but if one quite the other would adjust and continue. I suggest if you are interested to do some independent reasearch into the dairy industry that you support and see if alternatives are in order. It's your choice entirly.

I like that image. It reminds me of when the Berlin wall came down. For years people just accepted the existence of the wall and went about life as best they could. Then as the Soviet Union weakened and people sensed it calls for the wall to come down became louder and louder. Until finally people stated taking sledgehammers to it, swinging with all their might. But the wall was so strong each blow would only mahe a small chip in the wall. But their determination was consistent and they hammered away. When the Soviets saw the will of the people was that string and getting stronger they gave in and brought massive machines to bring the wall down.

"Actual motive" this is true introspection. Yes what perfect motive can we possibly? We want money, freedom from suffering, heavenly planets etc. Or we are a little curious an any combination of these sorts of things at any one time. I have noticed that as people study and continue to build the intellectual foundation of the true nature of material world as a dreamland filled with various suffering but not geneuine pleasure along with the reasoning behind what and eternal loving relationship with Krsna means are desires are start to purify. This along with the power inherient in the maha-mantra to cleanse the heart and to deliver a higher taste will be very effective. Ultimately it is Krsna Himself picking up the jiva by His Grace from within and without. All we can do is our best which is not enough, and become beggars before the Lord to give us such an undeserved taste of the real thing, if even for a moment, that we can do nothing but remember it perpetually and strive towards it again and again. "Blessed are those that hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled" How you every gone without food for some time until you have no more appetite. And then you take a bit of something and your appetite all comes flooding back and you can't stop eating until you are full? perhaps saying "I didn't realize how hungry I was until I started eating". I see it like that. We are presently in such an insane condition from starvation and malnutrition that we don't even know we are starving. Just wandering about like zombies searching for exactly what we don't even know. Then His Divine Grace may come and offer us some prasadam and doctor us back to health. At some point this stage will be behind us and we will be fully immersed in pure love of Krsna and never look back.

The birth of Mahäräja Parékñit is wonderful because in the womb of his mother he was protected by the Personality of Godhead Sri Krsna. His activities are also wonderful because he chastised Kali, who was attempting to kill a cow. To kill cows means to end human civilization. He wanted to protect the cow from being killed by the great representative of sin. SB 1.4.9 pur

I have seen it twice and I still get really lost trying to follow along. The average Joe that it was written for may get it but not me. /images/graemlins/smile.gif But it really plays right into Krsna conscious teaching. The kingdom of God is right here, in fact it is everywhere it's just a question of being conscious of it. Kind of like say I am in this room but I am daydreaming about being outside in the cold. It becomes so vivid I actually feel cold even in a warm room. So the question arises am I really in the room or "outside"? This to me is like the fall of the soul which never falls, but does. And string theory shows how there can be all these separate dimensions occupying the same "space". I agree with you 11 is just the beginning. A multitude of varying dimensions between this one all the way up to where at some point the energy becomes purely spiritual, Brahman. And then those that are of an even finer consciousness can move into Vaikuntha and finer still Goloka. And it's all right here right now. The only distance seems to be one of consciousness. All we say is "Oh My God!" as our jaws drop to the floor. I really have a feeling that string theory opens many doors for those expert preachers who can converse in physic speak. It's just light years over my head.

OK so your drink the milk from unprotected cows, that is what commercial means. Let's see I can't call anyone a hypocrite but you can call me self-righteous. I stand by that statment rather you like the tone or not, sorry. You could not give me an alternative? Perhaps the word hypocrite then is appropriate. For the hundrdth time it seems. When you buy the milk from unprotected cows, you are directly supporting their enslavement torture and slaughter. Why is that so difficult for you to understand? Are you really trying to use the ole "well if they weren't killed for me they would be killed for someone else" routine to dodge the responsibility for your own actions? It doesn't work that way. Why not wear leather then? You are not striving for cow protection. That is simply a falsehood. You are talking about it and preaching that cows should be protected by society but you are not protecting in fact you are partaking of the fruit of their horror. I do see that as hypocritical. Please do not tell you are convinced of his approach. You are convinced of a portion of his approach. The portion where you drink cows milk but not the portion where you protect the cows that give that milk. Our positions should be rather clear by now, don't you agree?

Gaurachandra, Brian Greene was being interviewed by Terry Gross (Fresh Air) and at one point he said he was explaining all this to his brother who is a HARE KRSNA! and his brother told him "yeah I know that's in the vedas". I wonder who his brother is. I saw that show before, there are two parts I think. It was great because it makes it very clear that it's really all "too much" for our tiny brains.

The more I look at it the more astounding it seems. Such a public display by a Pope is not done whimiscally. I wonder if he spoke at that event and what he may have said.

You are speaking as if refraining from killing animals can just be seen as the absence of sin, but also the abscence of positive Krsna conscious practice. An obstacle to be removed only. I don't. I believe it can be just that but that it also can be an offering unto the Lord in and of itself. You know we are not really dealing with a cow or calf. There is also the atma and the Paramatma that inhabit that cow form. I believe that is we try to learn to act towards all living enties in a compassionate way that may also be viewed by some as a good example. I am not challenging the drinking of milk, I am challenging the drinking of commercial milk devoid of cow protection. Do you see the distinction? You seem concerned about the word hypocrite. Everyone I know is to some degree a hypocrite, definetly including myself. But we have to work on it. Perhaps you could give me a better word for someone who preaches cow protection while himself killing cows everyday. If you don't preach cow protection and kill cows then you would not be a hypocrite. You couls say we feel that supporting the torture, enslavement and slaughter of cows and calves is bad but because we offer the milk to Krsna it is really better for them in the long run. That would not be hypocrisy. Of course this also sounds like the argument that justified stealing from people while selling books. ajnata sukriti so stealing from people was really the devotees being merciful. I am not convinced of this approach.

That's true of everything done or not done. Perhaps someone decides to refrain from cow slaughter as an offering to Krsna? Suppose someone wants to speak out on behalf of the helpless and voiceless ceatures of this world as their path of karma/bhakti-yoga, an offering to Krsna? Animal slaughter is a cause of war. Animal slaughters and buthchers cannot comprehend the finer points of Krsna consciousness. That's in the Bhagavatam. Those involved may lose their human form and slide down towards hell. Someone maybtry to dissuade them from this path, as an offering to Krsna. Do you assume that the only way of making offerings to the Lord is through an arotika ceremony?

Devotee (3): Is it possible that somehow or another at that particular time and place, God would have said "Eat cows"? Because in Bhagavad-gita Krsna clearly says go-raksya, cow protection. And that instruction would also be eternal. Prabhupada: Go-raksya, the point is that cow's milk is very important. Therefore specifically mentioned go-raksya. Krsna does not say that don't eat meat. It is not really said that meat-eating is forbidden. But meat-eating is tamasika, pramadya (indistinct). But He's speaking of go-raksya for our special material benefit, that if we protect the cows, we can have the facility of drinking milk, which will help us in keeping our health in order and developing very nice brain tissues to understand spiritual subject matter. Fish-eaters, they're all dull. They cannot understand finer philosophy of life. Meat-eating, not good. But the sudras, and the less than sudras, they eat. But for them there's lower animals, not cow. ...that IF we protect the cows, we can have the facility of drinking milk,...

pets provide companionship and entertainment, farm animals provide food in the form flesh eggs and milk. So the worth of their lives is calculated on the basis of how and in what way the animals are most useful to humans. You have been through that site a couple of times and yet you still feel like drinking milk. There is nothing else I can say. please accept my respects, Hare Krsna

That is interesting on the pharmacology. That's all new to me. I have heard there are two different calamus roots in the matket. I have had both as I could tell the difference by potency. both make me gag just by smelling it. Some hippies try to get high from it as it is said to have halucinogenic properties but they usually end up just throwing up. It is a strong emetic. I find it a stimulant and a nerve tonic. It also dramatically helps me focus and stay on one subject. I have ADD and calamus allows me to forego drugs like cylert ritilin and adderal. I read in one herb book that it was used by yogis to clear the subtle nerve channels in anticipation of their raising the kundalini. It is called vacha in sanskrit because of its ability to improve one's speaking ability. I have used it for several years off and on but now I use it daily. I also find it an anti-depressive and maybe that speaks to your point of it raising serotoin levels. I use very small amounts. I run the root through a coffee grinder and then put in veggie caps and take no more than two in the morning. plus several more through the day. The efrfects seem to build upon each other in that they carry over from day to day. Have you noticed that effect as well?
