  2. Dear Devotees,

Hare Krsna! The latest pictures and video of the farm are on our website at http://www.newtalavana.org/albums/hurricane/index.htm

    http://www.newtalavana.org/hurricane2.wmv

(This link may take some time to become active)

Thank you for all your concern and help. We are overwhelmed and cannot always answer your emails. But that doesn't mean we don't care; we just have a lot of pressing concerns right now to manage our community. Tomorrow Ramakeli Prabhu is going to Jackson to arrange for supplies for the devotees. We are getting some help from Food For Life also. So by Krsna's grace everything is working out.

Everyone on the farm is safe and unhurt. Please don't worry. We just heard that Mohanasini and Mahendranath are OK, and the boat is safe. They are in Memphis. So by Krsna's mercy, everything is turning out well for the devotees. For many others the news is not so good.

People who are not here cannot properly appreciate the scale of this disaster. It is the biggest in the US since the 1906 SF earthquake—maybe bigger. The final death toll may be 50,000 or more. The Gulf Coast community is completely shattered. People in Picayune are having gunfights over water and gasoline. Heavily armed gangs are looting everything in sight in New Orleans, and FEMA has halted evacuations until the National Guard can restore order—they don't want to jeopardize their men.

So we remain your humble servants in New Talavan,

    Dasanudas Vanacari

    Secretary,

  3. Vedic Principles of Creation

    1

The total lifespan of the Universe is 311 trillion and 40 Billion years. This Universe is 155.522 trillion years old and it will end in 155.518 trillion years time. This calculation is based on the life of Brahma.

    2

    There are millions of Universes.

    3

All Universes have life, are closed, of different size and properties.

    4

During the lifetime of each Universe, there are partial creations and annihilations. At the beginning of each day of Brahma there is creation and at the end of each day there is partial annihilation. One day of Brahma is 4.32 Billion years; the night is also of the same duration. We are currently half way through the current day of Brahma, thus we have existed for approximately 2.16 Billions years in the current small cycle.

    5

There are 8.4 million species of living beings in the whole of creation.

    900,000 species of aquatic

    2,000,000 species of plants

    1,100,000 species of insects

    1,000,000 species of birds

    3,000,000 species of beasts

    400,000 species of human beings

Not all these species are present on this planet.

    6

There are 4 ages in which we keep circulating one after another.

Satya Yuga: The age of the truth and true religion. Everyone in the world is truthful and follower of the only religion in the world, the Vedic religion. The yuga (age) lasts 1.728 million years and the lifespan of humans is up to 100,000 years.

Treta Yuga: The introduction of ignorance takes place in this age. The Vedic religion is the only one in the world. The yuga (age) lasts 1.296 million years and the lifespan of humans is up to 10,000 years.

Dvapara Yuga: Increased decline in the truth and religious values takes effect in this age. The Vedic religion is the only one in the world. The yuga lasts 864,000 years and the lifespan of humans is 1,000 years.

Kali Yuga: The age of irreligion and ignorance. There is complete decline in religious principles. In the first few thousand years there are many religions, which will gradually completely disappear from the face of the Earth one by one, and then after 15,000 years into Kali Yuga, there will be no religion left in the world. Only a few followers of the Vedic religion will be left in the whole world but officially there will be no religion. The whole world will become populated by demonic humans. Things will get so bad in Kali Yuga such that parents will eat their own children. The yuga lasts 432,000 years and the life span of humans is up to 100 years.

We are currently 5000 years into Kali Yuga.

  4. In Christianity, Islam, Buddism, Hindusim, and the hara krishnas all chant as it's the prescribed method of devotional service onto God in Kali Yuga.

But some chant for material benefit and not to serve God. Just like the Christians go to church on Sunday to ask for their daily bread. Some Muslims chant to ask Allah to destroy their enemies. The Hindus chant for money or better health and so on.

Originally the reason was to serve God but this idea has now become corrupted in all religions.

  5. Hare Krishna.

Going to the temple is good, but you can start by first reading articles on krishna consciousnes from my site and also listening to the BG in your own language.

Also read the Bhagavad-gita as it is book.

You should also visit the temple and associate with other devotees.

There should be no discremination between a beggar and a millionaire who visits a temple. All should be treated equally, that is the teachings of the BG. Tell the temple this.

  6. Hare Krishna.

The cost depends on the number of pages the Uddhava Gita is on. But the minimum cost is $500.

I have the equipment and a good narrator to make the recording. If you would like to sponsor, let me know. I have paid for making many recoridngs (BG in 5 languages) and now I am recording the BG with sanskrit, translations, and purports in 3 languages. Any support would be much appreciated by Lord krishna.

  7. Hare Krishna.

Yes anyone can make copies of my recordings to distribute them on CDs. That would be good for all. That is the reason why I placed my recordings on the net for free, for all to listen, benefit and pass on to others.

But in order to add sanskrit to my English recording, you have to get permission from Swami Brahmananda for his sanskrit. And the BBT for the English translations, since it's their book I used and I got permission from them.

I will have a new version of the BG in English, Hindi, and Gujarati with the sanskrit, translations, and purports on mp3 CD in a few months time. You can help me share the costs of making all these recordings by making a donation, if you wish.

  8. Applying The Bhagavad-Gita Today (from gitamrta.org)

Why should I bother with the Bhagavad-Gita?

How does it apply to me today?

    What is the Bhagavad-Gita?

The Bhagavad-Gita is the only word of God in person. It is the conversation between a man called Arjuna and God himself in the human form, Lord Krishna. The conversation took place just before the start of a great world war in India (Mahabharat – Great India) involving millions of soldiers on each side.

    The Situation of Arjuna

Arjuna was faced with a very difficult situation that few of us could bear or tolerate. Arjuna was not an ordinary person. He was the greatest fighter in the whole world, yet he broke down in tears when he saw his relatives lined up for battle.

The first chapter of the Bhagavad-Gita describes the emotional state of Arjuna.

    Life is a War

Ignorance, materialism, lust, greed, and anger, represents the soldiers on the opposing side.

We are faced with the same situation as Arjuna

Everyone is facing difficulties in life. Everyone wants to know how he or she can attain peace and happiness. People fail to realize that peace is a very rare commodity in the world.

Everyone is experiencing turmoil and confusion in their lives, which prevents them from living a happy and peaceful life.

Everyday we are faced with decisions in our lives

Shall I do this or do that?

Shall I marry now or later?

Shall I marry him or another?

Shall I marry her or another?

Shall I buy now or wait?

    How much shall I spend?

    When will I do it?

    When will I go?

    Which job shall I take?

    Which city should I choose?

    When I will retire?

    And so on…..

The real enemy of Arjuna was his mind rather than the soldiers on the other side. We are faced with the same situation. Our own mind is the greatest enemy, which is constantly tricking us into thinking that life is all about material enjoyment and sense gratification. Everyday we are faced with decisions, which will affect our future. Thus everyday is a battle with ignorance, materialism, lust, greed, and anger. If we can win the daily battles for some time then we have entered into spiritual life and the war over ignorance, materialism, lust, greed, and anger has been won. And at the end of this life we will enter into the kingdom of God with eternal spiritual life.

In order for us to win our war, we need the same knowledge that Arjuna was given by Lord Krishna. The Bhagavad-Gita.

By understanding the Bhagavad-Gita, the decisions we make in everyday life will alter our lives for the better and the result will be peace and happiness even in this life. And after this life there is guaranteed eternal peace for those who understand and practice the Bhagavad-Gita. If we don’t have the knowledge of the Bhagavad-Gita than all our decisions are simply based on speculation and thus the result will be speculative. Sometimes the decision we made earlier will turn out to be correct, and sometimes incorrect. More often our speculative decisions will turn out to be wrong and we will continue with a life of ignorance, materialism, lust, greed, and anger. At the time of death if we have a materialist mindset then we will once again have to go through this hellish life with all the problems. We may even fall down again into the animal kingdom and then have to go through 8 million births before we get another human birth.

By understanding and practicing the principles outlined in the Bhagavad-Gita we can minimize the affects, control, and avoid some of the problematic situations in our life.

    The Problems in Our Lives

Your wife may be cheating you

Your husband may be cheating you

Your wife may not be satisfied with you

Your husband may not be satisfied with you

Your wife may become attracted to another man at any time

Your husband may become attracted to another woman at any time

Your marriage may end at any time

You may lose your job at any time

Your business may go down at any time

You may be kicked out of your house at any time

Your savings will run out at any time

Your health may deteriorate at any time

You may develop cancer at any time

You may catch AIDS at any time

Your children may become diseased at any time

Your loved one may die at any time

    And so on..

The above list of decisions and problems are real and affects everyone. The Bhagavad-Gita can truly help us all overcome the complexities of material life.

What Difference Will The Bhagavad-Gita Make?

Whether you understand and practice the Bhagavad-Gita or not will make a significant difference to your current lifestyle and the next. If you think life is all about mating, eating and enjoying, then your next body will be in the animal kingdom and then your life will be to simply eat, sleep, mate, and defend. If you like exposing your body to others then your next body will be that of a tree and you will be able to stand naked in one place for thousands of years, exposed to all. If you eat anything and everything then your next body will be that of a hog who eats anything and everything including stool.

  9. In response to the above reply.

First of all, one needs to understand what the caste system is. Please read www.gitamrta.org/caste.htm

At your work place is the CEO the dummest, dirtiest, least qualified, least experienced person in the company?

The simple answers is no. Only the best can become a CEO of a corporation. One needs to be qualified to take up a certain position in a company. This is what the Vedic caste system is. One must be qualified to be a leader. But since there is no formal Vedic caste system. Anyone who can talk non-sense, takes bribes, and is good at guggling words can become a Politician.

None of the Politicians in India are qualified to be leaders, they have the qualifications of a Sudra. Yet they have the position of a Brahmana. When a janitor runs a company. The company will fail for sure. Similarly when Sudras run a country, the country becomes chaotic. Just like India. She is full of corruption, filth, poverty, illeterate, AIDS, and so on.

If the Politicians were the highest among man kind, with the qualifications of Brahmana. Like being very religious, vegetarian, no intoxications, no ellicict sex, no gabmling, truthfull and so on. The people in the whole country will strive to become the same. That's how India was in Satya Yuga.

  10. The fact is that swminarayan himself placed Lord Krishna in the center of all the temples he built.

So I don't know how these BAPS followers can call themselves followers of Swaminarayan?

They are simply concocting their own rules.

I have been to the homes of many BAPS followers and they have pictures of Pramukh Swami all around the house and not a single picture of Lord Krishna, and in some cases not even in the temple. This is what I call ignorance.

Don't be brainwashed by the so-called swaminarayan followers. Worship only Lord Krishna, only go to Lord Krishna temples.

  11. The problems in for example India is that the Politicians are all crooks. They are simply thievies and only interested in filling their own bellies.

None of them are religious, they just pretend to be. They don't even understand the basics of the Bhagavad-gita.

When the leaders are corrupt and materalist, the whole country becomes corrupt and materialist and irreligious. Things in India are becoming very bad, as the poeple are all becoming more and more materialist.

There should be 4 classes of people in each society or country for the country to be successful and prosperious. The Brahmans should be the Politicans and there should be the warrior class to protect. The class system according to qualifications and not birth died in India about 1000 years ago. That's why she was invaded and ruled by the Muslims and Christians who ruthlessly raped her.

It's because there is no class system that all the leaders and their followers are lower than Sudras.

Even after getting independence, the elected Politicians were lower than Sudras, but still they were made Prime Ministers. Like Neru who was a cow eater and ellicit sexer.

When the leaders are blind there is no hope for the followers. Currently all the leaders in India are totally blind. Even the so-called BJP leaders have recently proven that they are only interested in filling their own bellies. Advani went to Pakistan and bowed down to them to please them. He gave up Vedanta idiology to please the paks so that his own belly could be filled by winning the next election.

  12. When Lord Krishna left the gopis, the gopis were very miserable and they wanted to see Lord krishna. Then Lord Krishna appeared in his Vishnu form. The gopis rejected him, they only wanted Krishna in his original Krishna form.

So ragardless of swaminaryan being incarnation of krishna or not. We should only worship the supreme in the Krishna form. This is also confirmed in the Bhagavad-gita.

"Therefore, Arjuna, you should always think of Me in the form of Krsna and at the same time carry out your prescribed duty of fighting. With your activities dedicated to Me and your mind and intelligence fixed on Me, you will attain Me without doubt." (BG 8.7)

There are 10 incarnations of Lord Krishna, and there is no swaminarayn in the list. So please stop this swaminarayan non-sense.

Swaminarayan himself worshipped Lord Krishna and he also states in the Shikshapatri that Krishna is the 'Lord of us all'.

"The Paramatma – Shree Krishna who is supreme, Parabrahman, Bhagwan or Purushottam and who is the cause of all manifestations is the Lord of us all. He is to be worshipped for final redemption." (Shikshapatri 108)

The message of the Shikshapatri is worship krishna, think of krishna, surrender to krishna.

BAPS and others swaminarayan organizations and their followers are simply fools and raskals. As they ignore the Shikshapatri and concoct their own beleifs. The temples built by Swaminarayan himself all have Krishna in the center. As he is the supreme and only he should worshipped.

"All human beings on this Earth shall worship him knowing that there is no other way for ultimate redemption than devotion to him." (Shikshapatri 113)

The 'him' above refers to Krishna.

  13. Is There Life After Death?

What will happen to me after death?

The non-Vedic religions preach that this is the only life and after this life, we wait in our grave for the day of judgement and on that day we are either sent to hell or heaven forever. This means that for the sinners there is no second chance, as they will go to hell forever. They also preach that those who don’t follow their religion will go to hell forver.

This philosophy raises some serious questions:

    · What happens to those who die in fires? Are they gone forever through no fault of their own?

    · What happens to those who are cremated? Are they gone forever?

    · If this is the only life, then why is everyone born in different conditions? Some are born rich, some poor, some healthy, some diseased, some die at an early age, some live longer, some suffer more than others, and so on.

    · Out of the billions who have been dead and buried, has anyone risen (resurrected) from their grave yet?

    · When will the dead rise from their grave (be resurrected)?

The good news is that there is a religion, which preaches that God is merciful to all and thus know-one, is sent to hell forever. Everyone gets not one but unlimited chances.

According to the Vedic scriptures, the oldest known to mankind. There is hell, heaven, and something beyond them, the spiritual universe called Vaikuntha. Hell and heaven are temporary but the spiritual universe is permanent.

    What happens to the sinners?

After this life the sinners will take birth on one of the hellish planets and after their punishment is over they will again return to this or other Earthly planets in a suitable body (human or animal) and conditions of life (rich, poor, diseased, healthy etc..).

    What happens to the good?

After this life the pious will take birth on one of the heavenly planets and when their pious credit is over, they will again return to this or other Earthly planets in a suitable body (human) and conditions of life (rich, poor, diseased, healthy etc..).

What happens to those who are very good?

After this life those who are god conscious will take birth in the spiritual universe, Vaikuntha, and will never return to the material world unless they really want to. There is no death, no disease, no anxiety, no taxes, no killing (no meat), no sex, no speculation, and no intoxications in the spiritual universe.

    We are not the body

The main teaching of the Bhagavad-Gita is that we are not this body, but the soul, which is eternal.

"For the soul there is neither birth nor death at any time. He has not come into being, does not come into being, and will not come into being. He is unborn, eternal, ever existing and primeval. He is not slain when the body is slain."

    (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita)

Living beings are souls covered in a particular material body. Being material, the body is by nature temporary, and must at some point deteriorate and die. The soul on the other hand is spiritual in nature, which can never be destroyed. Material life is temporary, full of ignorance, and suffering. The soul is eternal, full of knowledge and bliss.

What goes up will come down. Similarly, anything that has a beginning will also have an end. Thus the body, which has a beginning, will inevitably have an end, but the soul, which has no beginning, will continue to exist after the body is slain.

"One who has taken his birth is sure to die, and after death one is sure to take birth again. Therefore, in the unavoidable discharge of your duty, you should not lament." (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita)

Lord Krishna describes death in the Bhagavad-Gita as being nothing more than a change of dress:

"As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones." (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita)

This body is nothing but a vehicle, and the soul is the passenger. When this vehicle is no longer suitable for the soul, due to old age and decay, the soul is given a new vehicle. Thus death is simply the transition from one vehicle to the next.

"As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change." (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita)

What determines the next body that one will get after this body?

Lord Krishna answers this question as follows:

"Whatever state of being one remembers when he quits his body, O son of Kunti, that state he will attain without fail." (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita)

According to our consciousness at the time of death we receive a suitable body. What we remember at the time of death is not just a matter of the momentary thought that occurs. What we have done throughout our entire life will naturally come to our mind as we leave our body. Just prior to death, our entire life is flashed before our mind's eye in a split second. One particular event will be very attractive to us, and we will focus on that. Based on that desire we will be given our next body, sometimes higher and sometimes lower.

If our mind focuses on an activity, which is very ignorant, we will receive a suitable body among the lower species of life - as a plant, a fish, a tree, or an animal.

If our mind focuses on an activity, which is passionate, we will be given a body within the human categories of life.

If our mind focuses on an activity, which is primarily within the mode of goodness, we will receive a body on one of the higher planets – Brahmaloka, Indraloka etc.

At death our mind will focus on an activity based on how we have lived our entire life. It is not possible to suddenly make our consciousness pure if we have spent our entire life engaged in sinful activities.

Lord Krishna describes this entire universe as temporary and full of suffering. No matter which body one has, these two qualities are there. But there is an alternative, a solution to this seemingly endless cycle. Lord Krishna says:

"And whoever, at the end of his life, quits his body, remembering Me alone, at once attains My nature. Of this there is no doubt." (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita)

If we are able to remember Lord Krishna at the time of death, we will become free from the external covering of the body and attain His eternal abode. This sounds very simple, but again it is not such an easy thing. Death is the ultimate test we must all face. What will be our consciousness at that moment? For those who are attached to the body due to identifying the body as the self, death is the most difficult occurrence.

For a self-realized person the situation is completely different. He understands he is not the body. He knows the body is just a vehicle, a machine, and as such he has no attachment to the external body. And because his consciousness is always fixed on the Lord, his destination is complete freedom from the cycle of birth and death.

"After attaining Me, the great souls, who are yogis in devotion, never return to this temporary world, which is full of miseries, because they have attained the highest perfection." (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita)

"That supreme abode of Mine is not illumined by the sun or moon, nor by fire or electricity. Those who reach it never return to this material world." (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita)

"Always think of Me, become My devotee, worship Me and offer your homage unto Me. Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promise you this because you are My very dear friend." (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita)

Is There Any Evidence of Reincarnation?

There is over whelming evidence to support the reincarnation theory. Millions of humans around the world have had past life memories. There are numerous books and video documentaries with supporting evidence.

  14. Krishna Consciousness - The Solution To All Our modern Day Problems

The problems in the World today are: Drugs, alcoholism, terrorism, violence, cancer, poverty, divorce, AIDS, conservation, global warming, droughts, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, and financial ruin.

A Krishna conscious person follows the following principles; Krishna consciousness, No Intoxication, No Meat eating, No elicit sex, No gambling, Accepting the law of karma and reincarnation:

    Krishna (God) consciousness.

Do you follow a God with no name, unknown address, unknown description, and unknown history, not seen, or not proven?

In the Vedic religion (Hinduism) God is a real person with a name, address, description, and history dating back to the beginning of creation (billions of years), seen by millions of humans (the forefathers of all of us), and proven. Lord Krishna is the Supreme Being (God) who last appeared in his original form, only 5000 years ago. He declared himself and proved that he was the Supreme Being, God, to millions of humans.

The life of a Krishna conscious person (a devotee) is centered on God (Krishna), which results in liberation from the cycle of birth, death, and re-birth after this life. The life of non-devotees is centered on materialism, lust, attachments, greed, or illusion. Which only result in bondage to material life for countless lifetimes. Material life is conditioned with misery, old age, disease, and death. There are 8.4 million bodies in which the soul keeps circulating. Out of these, only 400,000 are human species in various conditions of life. Not all the species are present on this planet. Thus human birth is rare, and one should utilize the higher consciousness to the fullest potential to break free from the wheel of birth, death, and re-birth, by becoming Krishna conscious.

When ones life is not centered on God, then it becomes centered on lust and materialism, which leads to anger and hatred as desires are unlimited and thus can never be satisfied. Couples should first love God, which will automatically lead to love for one another. If they just center their life around each other then their desires will never be satisfied and their relationship will end in misery, divorce.

Krishna consciousness people are totally non-violent (vegetarian), not materialist (simple), don’t behave like dogs on the street (no elicit sex), drug free (no intoxications), and don’t gamble with their life. The result of which is no mentality of violence, no AIDS, no druggies, and no financial ruin.

If you are serious about stopping terrorism, drugs, and AIDS. Then become Krishna conscious now.

    No intoxications.

Drugs are the biggest worry for parents of children. In the US alone, millions of people are addicted to drugs.

Millions of people are addicted to alcohol. Alcohol causes health problems and human suffering due to un-controlled consciousness.

Cigarettes cause diseases like cancer and lung disorders.

Tea and Coffee are intoxicants, which are addictive and can affect the consciousness in a negative way.

    No Meat Eating.

A man works all his life and gets a pension to live out his remaining days. The cow gives milk all her life, and then people kill and eat her. It's wrong. Man does not need to kill to live but he kills by the millions each day.

Animal killing, destruction of forests, and pollution is killing nature, which takes revenge in the form of droughts, floods, hurricanes, and earthquakes. In this age (Kali Yuga) things will only get worse by the day.

Scientific research has shown that eating meat can seriously damage your health. Meat eaters are much more likely to suffer from cancer, heart disease, and other diseases than vegetarians.

Killing animals is inhumane and uncivilized. They too are God’s creatures.

Meat eaters have a mentality of violence, a person who kills animals is much more likely to kill people too. Than a person who is a vegetarian. The most violent humans on Earth are animal killers. In this time of terrorism, it is important to know that all terrorists are meat eaters. It would be extremely rare to find a vegetarian terrorist. If everyone in the world were a vegetarian, there would be no terrorism.

It makes no economic sense to produce meat for human consumption. It takes at least 16 lbs of grain and many gallons of water to produce just 1 lb of meat. The 16 lbs of grain can feed at least 16 people while the 1 lb of meat can only feed 1 person. If everyone in the world were a vegetarian, there would be enough grain to feed twice the number of people in the world; there would be no poverty.

The forests of the world are being decimated by conversion to grazing lands, ruining the lungs of mother earth- that convert the carbon- di-oxide in the air back to oxygen. Global warming would be reduced considerably if there were no meat consumption. The contribution to global warming by automobiles is insignificant compared to the damage caused by breeding animals for meat consumption.

    4. No Illicit Sex.

Millions of people around the world are dying from sexually transmitted disease like AIDS. Which is caused by humans behaving like dogs on the street.

In this age, relationships and marriages are often based on sex impulses only. This can be proven by the fact that most marriages end in a divorce. It is the children that suffer the most, all due to the lusty parents. Marriage often end due to one or both the partners wanting to move onto another mate. Just like the dogs on the street.

If there was no sex before marriage, and if humans did not behave like dogs on the street then the number of divorces and thus single parent families would dramatically reduce. Sexual lust only leads to misery.

Marriage beak-ups are costly in terms of human suffering and financially to both the partners.

    5. No Gambling.

Millions of people gamble in various ways. Often most are losers. Gambling destroys the financial well being of many families and causes suffering. Mostly to women and children.

The gamblers don’t realize that it’s the bookies who win and not them.

    6. Accepting the law of karma and reincarnation.

If a person kills and soon after dies himself. How can be punished unless he takes birth again? If a sinner is sent to hell forever then how can God be merciful unless he is given another chance? Reincarnation and karma explain why some people are born into misery and others into good fortune. Why some are born healthy and some diseased and so on.

By knowing that we are responsible for all our actions, one does not take actions, which causes suffering to others. This makes one very compassionate to all living beings. The law of karma makes one realize that by engaging in violence against other living beings will result in punishment, in equal proportion to the action.

Giving charity now will result in receiving charity in the future. If you give today to the needy, then in the future when you are in need, you will receive.

At death, all our actions taken during in life are taken into account to determine our next body (human or animal) and it’s conditions of life (rich, poor, healthy, diseased).

If all humans accepted that this life isn’t the only one and that for every action there will be a reaction, there would be no terrorism, violence, and criminals in the world. Also, if all humans were charitable and shared their wealth (take pious actions), there would be no poverty in the world.

People say “I want peace’. If you remove the ‘I’ (ego) and the ‘want’ (desires), you will be left with peace. Men and women must give up false ego, attachment to material objects, desires, and lust. This will result in everlasting peace and happiness.

Reincarnation and Karma are scientific facts.

  15. Vedic Principles of Creation (from www.gitamrta.org)

In the first few thousand years there are many religions, which will completely disappear from the face of the Earth one by one, and then after 10,000 years there will be no religion left in the world.

  16. Hare Krishna.

Read what swaminarayan says in the Shikshapatri at www.gitamrta.org/swaminarayan.htm

He clearly says Krishna is the supreme and we should all only worship Krishna, only Krishnaa.

It's a shame that the so-called swaminarayan followers are not following his instructions by ignoring Krishna and the Bhagavad-gita. As Srila Prabhupada would say 'they are raskals and fools'.

In the temples that swaminarayna built he placed Lord Krishna's deity in the center but in the temples that BAPS has built, krishna is far from the center. This clearly shows what BAPS is doing, insulting shree swaminarayan and Lord Krishna. BAPS is blind leading the blind to hell.

Read why Lord Krishna is the only God:

He is not slain when the body is slain." (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita)

"As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones."

A sober person is not bewildered by such a change."

  18. Description of Life On The Hellish Planets

What exactly is hell? The Vedic scriptures describe hell as planets where the sinners are taken after this life for their punishment.

From the Srimad Bhagavatam canto 5.

There are thousands of hellish planets. Here are the names and details of life on some of these hellish planets. Each planet is meant for punishing the humans according to their sins.

    Animal Killers/Tormentors

In this life, an envious person commits violent acts against many living entities. Therefore after his death, when he is taken to hell by Yamarāja, those living entities who were hurt by him appear as animals called rurus to inflict very severe pain upon him. Learned scholars call this hell Raurava. Not generally seen in this world, the ruru is more envious than a snake.

Punishment in the hell called Mahāraurava is compulsory for a person who maintains his own body by hurting others. In this hell, ruru animals known as kravyāda torment him and eat his flesh.

For the maintenance of their bodies and the satisfaction of their tongues, cruel persons cook poor animals and birds alive. Such persons are condemned even by man-eaters. In their next lives they are carried by the Yamadūtas to the hell known as Kumbhīpāka, where they are cooked in boiling oil.

If a human being kills or torments insignificant creatures. The Supreme Lord punishes such a man by putting him into the hell known as Andhakūpa, where he is attacked by all the birds and beasts, reptiles, mosquitoes, lice, worms, flies, and any other creatures he tormented during his life. They attack him from all sides, robbing him of the pleasure of sleep. Unable to rest, he constantly wanders about in the darkness. Thus in Andhakūpa his suffering is just like that of a creature in the lower species.

Those who hunt and kill animals unnecessarily, he is placed after death into the hell known as Prāṇarodha. There the assistants of Yamarāja make him their targets and pierce him with arrows.

    Sex Outside of Marriage

A man or woman who indulges in sexual intercourse with an unworthy member of the opposite sex is punished after death by the assistants of Yamarāja in the hell known as Taptasūrmi. There such men and women are beaten with whips. The man is forced to embrace a red-hot iron form of a woman, and the woman is forced to embrace a similar form of a man. Such is the punishment for illicit sex.

    Thieves

A person who appropriates another's legitimate wife, children or money is arrested at the time of death by the fierce Yamadūtas, who bind him with the rope of time and forcibly throw him into the hellish planet known as Tāmisra. On this very dark planet, the sinful man is chastised by the Yamadūtas, who beat and rebuke him. He is starved, and he is given no water to drink. Thus the wrathful assistants of Yamarāja cause him severe suffering, and sometimes he faints from their chastisement.

Misers and Those Who Are Not Charitable

A person is considered no better than a crow if after receiving some food, he does not divide it among guests, old men and children, but simply eats it himself, or if he eats it without performing the five kinds of sacrifice. After death he is put into the most abominable hell, known as Kṛmibhojana. In that hell is a lake 100,000 yojanas [800,000 miles] wide and filled with worms. He becomes a worm in that lake and feeds on the other worms there, who also feed on him. Unless he atones for his actions before his death, such a sinful man remains in the hellish lake of Kṛmibhojana for as many years as there are yojanas in the width of the lake.

    Those Who Lie

A person who in this life bears false witness or lies while transacting business or giving charity is severely punished after death by the agents of Yamarāja. Such a sinful man is taken to the top of a mountain eight hundred miles high and thrown headfirst into the hell known as Avīcimat. This hell has no shelter and is made of strong stone resembling the waves of water. There is no water there, however, and thus it is called Avīcimat [waterless]. Although the sinful man is repeatedly thrown from the mountain and his body broken to tiny pieces, he still does not die but continuously suffers chastisement.

    Those Who Are Not Friendly

A householder who receives guests or visitors with cruel glances, as if to burn them to ashes, is put into the hell called Paryāvartana, where he is gazed at by hard-eyed vultures, herons, crows and similar birds, which suddenly swoop down and pluck out his eyes with great force.

  19. Hare Krishna.

These are very good questions and comments by BruzWayne.

The answers lie in understanding the Bhagavad-gita.

Arjuna first of all did not want to fight (chapter 1). He was overcome by compassion for his relatives and friends on the both sides.

In chapter 2 and onwards, Lord Krishna makes Arjuna realize the following:

    1. When you are attacked, it's silly not to defend yourself.

    2. When you are on the battlefield, whether you want to fight or not makes no difference. The other side will attack and you will be forced to fight.

    3. Those who are the battlefield on the other side are not to be considered your friends or relatives. They are your enemies. When people have swords, knives, and arrows pointing at you, how can they be your friends or relatives.

    4. When the righteous don't stand-up for righteousness, then the un-righteous take over the world.

    5. The Kurukshetra war was not between Arjuna and Duryodan. It was between righteousness and evil.

    6. Lord krishna could have killed all the soldiers on the other side with the blink of an eye. But he didn't. You have to understand how god works (partially at least, one cannot understand him completely). Lord Krishna used Arjuna as an instrument to kill the soldiers. He wanted to give the credit to Arjuna and not take it for himself. Even before the war started, Lord Krishna showed Arjuna all the soldiers being killed one-by-one.

    7. Even if Arjuna didn't listen to Lord krishna and did not fight. The soldiers on the other side would not have gone home. They would have been killed by Lord Krishna. So it's not Arjuna who's actually killing the soldiers, but Lord Krishna through Arjuna as an instrument.

    8. Bhisma was on the other side, he knew that Krishna was God. He knew righteousness was on the other side, and he knew that his side would lose, but still he was on the side of evil. Why?

Bhisma took a vow to defend Hastinapur and serve the king, whoever he maybe. Thus it was his duty to serve on the side of the king, thus Duryodan's side.

So what does the Bhagavad-gita and all the above mean to us today in 2005.

One does have the right to kill for the following reasons, as mentioned in the Vedic scriptures:

    1. If ones house is burnt.

    2. If ones land is stolen.

There are other reasons but I cannot remember them all.

In 2001 when the Taliban blew up the caves with status of Lord Buddha in Afghanistan, an incarnation of Lord krishna. I was praying that Lord Buddha takes revenge, and he did not disappoint me. By November 2001 nearly all the Taliban soldiers were killed in the same way the Statues of lord Buddha were destroyed, blown up in caves.

Lord Buddha used the Americans as the instrument for destroying the Taliban. The Taliban have become extinct and if there are any left, they are hiding. This clealry shows how God does things. He works through us.

Some may think that the Americans in Iraq and elsewhere in the world are bad or invaders. But actually Lord krishna may be using them as instruments to wipe out the evil

(Islamic extremists - terrorists). Through Bush, Blair and others.

Nothing can happen without Lord Krishna's will. Even a blade of grass cannot move without the sanctions of Lord Krishna.

  20. Hare Krishna.

In one of his lectures, Srila Prabhupada said why follow the son (Jesus) when you can follow the father (Krishna).

He also said if you know the father then you know the son, but if you know the son then you cannnot know the father.

In the IKSCON temples there is no cross or murti of Jesus, why? Srila Prabhuapda intended this way. This alone proves we should only focus on Krishna and not on anyone else.

I guess as Kali Yuga progresses, many will deviate from the instructions of Srila Prabhupada and Lord Krishna (BG). As stated in the Vedic scriptures, those who deviate from the scriptures go straight to hell.

  21. Hare Krishna.

Why does Islam preach meat eating?

Well, before the arabs were Muslim, they were very degraded Vedic followers, slaughtering animals like anything. So they could not be totally stopped so they were asked to kill only in the name of Allah, halal meat.

Humans are preached according to their mentality. Thus it's very difficult to stop the Muslims from killing (animals and humans), but they can be taught to kill animals in a regulated way, thus halal meat. They now need to be taught to stop killing humans, but that is difficult.
