  1. Subham, Thanks for the information. I don't drink alcohol and I try not to eat meat. And I'm not interested in sex, so this path is definitely not for me. But thanks again for the information. luigee
  2. maadhav, You miss my point. I agree that if a religion says "go and convert otheres by all means, even by force. if they refuse to convert, then kill them. destroy their temples, and salughter them" then that is wrong. However, this topic deals with Witchcraft. And at least in the West, the pagan religions don't go out of their way to bring people into their fold. And certainly, they don't force anyone to join their faith. Yes, there are books on the subject, but that's as far as it goes. They usually feel that if a person is drawn to their religion, then it's because of their own choice and free will. I don't see this as evil.
  3. << witchcraft is being practiced by the fools and rascals who enjoy in harming others. >> I doubt this general statement is true, but if it is, then it doesn't speak well for Witches in India.
  4. Guest, you are right. I should've seperated the word witchcraft from hinduism.
  5. "anything that is no krishna kraft in essence is not good" I disagree. In my opinion, your statement implies ignorance on the subject and you sound no better than a radical christian in america. There are many roads to God and just because you don't agree or "understand" something doesn't make it evil.
  6. maadhav, Witchcraft and other pagan religions are among the fastests spiritual practices growing in the world - especially in Europe, North America, and Australia. The numbers are not as small as you claim. FYI. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
  7. Thanks Guest 2.......I do believe you gave me the answer I was seeking. My research has shown that there are a lot of aspects of Hinduism that have a Witchcraft tone to them (in a good way) although Hinduism as a whole is not Witchcraft. I don't believe witchcraft is necessary bad. I will explore this issue a bit more. luigee
  8. I know the difference between witchcraft and hinduism. Some religions do have a mystica/magickla off shoot to them. The Kabalah is the mysical side of the jewish faith. Thanks for the information. I will do more research.
  9. Hello... It's been awhile since I've posted here.... I have a question. Is there a branch or form of Hinduism that focuses on the Mystical traditions of India? If so, I would like more information and any possible links if possible. Luigee
  10. thank you all for all your information. It has definitely given me a lot to think about. I will definitely do my research and think about what exactly I want to do. I probably will go the route of learning Sanskrit as a way to get a visa - learning Sanskrit is something I always wanted to do, so this gives me an extra push to finally do it. I will save these posts on my computer and refer to them as needed.. thanks again, luigee
  11. thanks Karthik_v, I really appreciate your help. I'll definitely email J N Das as soon as possible. Thanks for all your input. And yes, My quest is a spiritual one. However, I've always had a fascination with the Hindu culture and people years before I decided to explore Hinduism as a religion. I guess my quest is a mixture of many things. Also, I do hope that America agrees to a dual citizenship - I would love to be a citizen of India and of American. Luigee
  12. hello, lately, I've been getting an urge to go and live in India for a while. However, I'm not familiar with how the process works. I'm an american citizen (born and raised in sunny california). How can I go about living in India and If i like, apply for citizenship If I fall in love with the country??? Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. luigee
  13. mahak, I'm just saying that you should not automatically believe everything she says, she's been shown to be wrong in the past, so she's not always right. And her point of view is skewed towards the Christian point of view. I understand what you're saying. And you have valid points. However, if you're going to believe every prediction out there, then are you willing to condemn India and Pakistan for Starting WW3 out of their own stupidity and pride. There are many psychics who say that if nuclear war ever breaks out, it will be between Pakistan and India - all over a piece of land. Yes, man is studpid by nature. But this prediction contradicts the Christian version of the end of times (in which India is never mentioned). It just goes to tell you that different people predict contradicting things.......who do you believe??? [This message has been edited by luigee (edited 12-05-2001).]
  14. mahak, Everything can be prevented. The future is not set in stone. The future is our own making. Therefore, her saying that does not give her much credibility in my eyes. But like you said, we're not here to argue. However, I just felt compelled to bring my 2 cents into this discussion.
  15. mahak, I'm familiar with the Lady you talk about. You probably heard her on the "Art Bell" Show. She's not as credible as you would like to believe. She's a very Christian person who desperately wants to bring about the "Christian" form of the end of the world. In a way, she's trying to bring about a self-fulfilling prophecy. She's an alarmist and enjoys the publicity. As a result, I take what she says with a grain of salt. Her credibility is low in my opinion.
  16. The Anti-Christ, who supposedly will wear a blue turbin will come from Iran (according to Nostradamus). Supposedly, he will come under the false impression of peace. Based on the candidates mentioned so far, none of them fits the bill. luigee
  17. jijaji, Thank you so much. I really appreciate your help. I also love the picture you linked too. I saved it on a floppy so that I could have it forever.. thanks again for everything.
  18. Hello again..... During the reading I've been doing online, I've found a special attraction to the "Sakti" tradition of Hinduism. I can't seem to find a web-site that offers specific teachings or lessons of any kind on this particular sect of hinduism. Can anyone here help me out with this problem? Any links will be appreciated. Luigee
  19. Caitanyachandra, Thanks for your advice. I'll go and start reading the articles right away...
  20. Jndas, Again, thanks for further clarifying my question. I'll make sure and seek your posts in the future to seek additional wisdom and a straight foward answer.
  21. Audarya, I didn't ask because I want to be in the high caste system. Like I said in my original post, I don't like the caste system. For that reason, I don't want anything to do with it. However, my question was referring to how I would be perceived by others. of course, I don't care if people think lower of me. I know who I am. so, no. I'm not one of those "Alter-egos" you speak about. But thanks anyway... jndas, I agree with you that the caste system is wrong and should be abolished (although technically India made it illegal decades ago). Keeping this system alive will be Hinduisms greatest threat in the 21st century (womans' rights also need improvement)IMHO. Hinduism is such a beautiful religion. The caste system makes it look bad to the outside world. thanks for answering to all.
  22. thank you. I'll look into the classes you mentioned..
  23. Although The caste system is something that I don't like about Hinduism, As a new convert how will other hindus treat me? In what class will they consider me to be? I'm a college student attending a top-rate school in America. Will the fact that I'm highly educated affect my caste standing in the eyes of Hindus? I would really like to know what to expect in the future if I do decide to fully convert to Hinduism. luigee [This message has been edited by luigee (edited 10-19-2001).]
