Professor Jerry Woodall and students have invented a way to use an aluminum alloy to extract hydrogen from water — a process that he thinks could replace gasoline as well as its pollutants and emissions tied to global warming. But Woodall says there's one big hitch: "Egos" at the U.S. Department of Energy, a key funding source for energy research, "are holding up the revolution." <hr noshade="noshade" size="1"><embed src="http://m1.2mdn.net/1137699/stalkcar_300x250_R.swf?clickTag=http%3A//ad.doubleclick.net/click%253Bh%3Dv8/3559/3/0/%252a/v%253B99869914%253B0-0%253B0%253B16824179%253B4307-300/250%253B20838875/20856768/1%253B%253B%257Efdr%253D99529899%253B0-0%253B0%253B16820113%253B4307-300/250%253B20813515/20831408/1%253B%253B%257Esscs%253D%253fhttp%3A//www.gm.com/company/onlygm/livegreengoyellow/index.html%3FdirectEntry%3Dstalk" quality="high" wmode="opaque" swliveconnect="TRUE" bgcolor="#" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" height="250" width="300"> Woodall says the method makes it unnecessary to store or transport hydrogen — two major challenges in creating a hydrogen economy. "The hydrogen is generated on demand, so you only produce as much as you need when you need it," he said in a statement released by Purdue this week. So instead of having to fill up at a station, hydrogen would be made inside vehicles in tanks about the same size as today's gasoline tanks. An internal reaction in those tanks would create hydrogen from water and 350 pounds worth of special pellets. "No extra room would be needed," Woodall said, "and the added weight would be the equivalent of an extra passenger, albeit a pretty large extra passenger." The hydrogen would then power an internal combustion engine or a fuel cell stack. "It's a simple matter to convert ordinary internal combustion engines to run on hydrogen," Woodall said. "All you have to do is replace the gasoline fuel injector with a hydrogen injector." How it works Here's how it all happens: Hydrogen is generated spontaneously when water is added to pellets of the alloy, which is made of aluminum and a metal called gallium. "When water is added to the pellets, the aluminum in the solid alloy reacts because it has a strong attraction to the oxygen in the water," Woodall said. "No toxic fumes are produced." This reaction splits the oxygen and hydrogen contained in water, releasing hydrogen in the process. An electrical and computer engineering professor, Woodall first discovered the basic process while working as a researcher in the semiconductor industry in 1967. "I was cleaning a crucible containing liquid alloys of gallium and aluminum," Woodall said. "When I added water to this alloy — talk about a discovery — there was a violent poof. I went to my office and worked out the reaction in a couple of hours to figure out what had happened. When aluminum atoms in the liquid alloy come into contact with water, they react, splitting the water and producing hydrogen and aluminum oxide." That research led to advances in cell phones, solar cells, optical-fiber communications and light-emitting diodes, and earned Woodall the 2001 National Medal of Technology from President Bush. In recent years, Woodall built a team of Purdue electrical, mechanical, chemical and aeronautical engineering students to fine-tune the process. CONTINUED: Cost speed bumps<hr size="1">1 | 2 | Next >
  2. Darwinism is a religion in the name of science, says Phillip E. Johnson. And that means that it is misleading people about both religion and science - the project of Darwinism is to explain the world and all its life forms in a way that excludes any role for a creator. And that project is "sacred" to present global elite - keeping people in darkness. Darwinists Squirm Under Spotlight <!-- DATE --> 2007 05 16 <!-- ARTICLE BY OR FROM--> arn.org <!--ARTICLE BODY---> <table><tbody><tr><td><table align="right" width="325"><tbody><tr><td align="center"> Charles Darwin & Stephen Jay Gould</td></tr></tbody></table>Interview with Phillip E. Johnson Phillip Johnson has been a law professor at the University of California at Berkeley for more than 20 years. As an academic lawyer, one of Johnson's specialties is "analyzing the logic of arguments and identifying the assumptions that lie behind those arguments." A few years ago he began to suspect that Darwinism, far from being an objective fact, was little more than a philosophical position dressed up as science--and poor science at that. Wanting to see whether his initial impression was correct, Johnson decided to take a closer look at the arguments, evidence and assumptions underlying contemporary Darwinism. The result of his investigation is Darwin on Trial, a controversial new book that challenges not only Darwinism but the philosophical mindset that sustains it. When did you first become aware that Darwinism was in trouble as a scientific theory? I had been vaguely aware that there were problems, but I'd never had any intention of taking up the subject seriously or in detail until the 1987-88 academic year, when I was a visiting professor in London. Every day on the way to my office I happened to go by a large bookstore devoted to science. I picked up one book after another and became increasingly fascinated with the obvious difficulties in the Darwinist case--difficulties that were being evaded by tricky rhetoric and emphatic repetition. I then began delving into the professional literature, especially in scientific journals such as Nature and Science. At every step, what I found was a failure of the evidence to be in accord with the theory. What was it that initially made you suspect that Darwinism was more philosophy than hard science? It was the way my scientific colleagues responded when I asked the hard questions. Instead of taking the intellectual questions seriously and responding to them, they would answer with all sorts of evasions and vague language, making it impossible to discuss the real objections to Darwinism. This is the way people talk when they're trying very hard not to understand something. Another tip-off was the sharp contrast I noticed between the extremely dogmatic tone that Darwinists use when addressing the general public and the occasional frank acknowledgments, in scientific circles, of serious problems with the theory. For example, I would read Stephen Jay Gould telling the scientific world that Darwinism was effectively dead as a theory. And then in the popular literature, I would read Gould and other scientific writers saying that Darwinism was fundamentally healthy, and that scientists had the remaining problems well under control. There was a contradiction here, and it looked as though there was an effort to keep the outside world from becoming aware of the serious intellectual difficulties. What are some of the intellectual difficulties? Can you give an example? The most important is the fossil problem, because this is a direct record of the history of life on earth. If Darwinism were true, you would expect the fossil evidence to contain many examples of Darwinian evolution. You would expect to see fossils that really couldn't be understood except as transitions between one kind of organism and another. You would also expect to see some of the common ancestors that gave birth to different groups like fish and reptiles. You wouldn't expect to find them in every case, of course. It's perfectly reasonable to say that a great deal of the fossil evidence has been lost. But you would continually be finding examples of things that fit well with the theory. In reality, the fossil record is something that Darwinists have had to explain away, because what it shows is the sudden appearance of organisms that exhibit no trace of step-by-step development from earlier forms. And it shows that once these organisms exist, they remain fundamentally unchanged, despite the passage of millions of years-and despite climatic and environmental changes that should have produced enormous Darwinian evolution if the theory were true. In short, if evolution is the gradual, step-by-step transformation of one kind of thing into another, the outstanding feature of the fossil record is the absence of evidence for evolution. But isn't it possible, as many Darwinists say, that the fossil evidence is just too scanty to show evidence of Darwinian evolution? The question is whether or not Darwinism is a scientific theory that can be tested with scientific evidence. If you assume that the theory is true, you can deal with conflicting evidence by saying that the evidence has disappeared. But then the question arises, how do you know it's true if it isn't recorded in the fossils? Where is the proof? It's not in genetics. And it's not in the molecular evidence, which shows similarities between organisms but doesn't tell you how those similarities came about. So the proof isn't anywhere, and it's illegitimate to approach the fossil record with the conclusive assumption that the theory is true so that you can read into the fossil record whatever you need to support the theory. If Darwinism has been so thoroughly disconfirmed, why do so many scientists say it's a fact? There are several factors that explain this. One is that Darwinism is fundamentally a religious position, not a scientific position. The project of Darwinism is to explain the world and all its life forms in a way that excludes any role for a creator. And that project is sacred to the scientific naturalist-to the person who denies that God can in any way influence natural events. It's also an unfortunate fact in the history of science that scientists will stick to a theory which is untrue until they get an acceptable alternative theory-which to a Darwinist means a strictly naturalistic theory. So for them, the question is not whether Darwinism is true. The question is whether there is a better theory that's philosophically acceptable. Any suggestion that Darwinism is false, and that we should admit our ignorance about the origin of complex life-forms, is simply unacceptable. In their eyes, Darwinism is the best naturalistic theory, and therefore effectively true. The argument that it's false can't even be heard. Surely there are some skeptics in the scientific world. What of them? Well, there are several, and we can see what happened to them. You have paleontologist Colin Patterson, who's quoted in my first chapter. He made a very bold statement, received a lot of vicious criticism, and then pulled back. This is a typical pattern. Another pattern is that of Stephen Jay Gould, who said that Darwinism is effectively dead as a general theory-and then realized that he had given a powerful weapon to the creationists, whose existence cannot be tolerated. So now Gould says that he's really a good Darwinist, and that all he really meant was that Darwinism could be improved by developing a larger theory that included Darwinism. What we have here is politics, not science. Darwinism is politically correct for the scientific community, because it enables them to fight off any rivals for cultural authority. Darwinists often accuse creationists of intolerance. But you're suggesting that the Darwinists are intolerant? If you want to know what Darwinist science is really like, read what the Darwinists say about the creationists, because those things-regardless of whether they're true about the creationists-are true about the Darwinists. I've found that people often say things about their enemies that are true of themselves. And I think Darwinist science has many of the defects that the Darwinists are so indignant about when they describe the creationists. Across the country, there has been a growing trend toward teaching evolution as a fact-especially in California, your own state. What does this say about science education in America? This is an attempt to establish a religious position as orthodox throughout the educational establishment, and thus throughout the society. It's gone very far. The position is what I call "scientific naturalism." The scientific organizations, for example, tell us that if we wish to maintain our country's economic status and cope with environmental problems, we must give everyone a scientific outlook. But the "scientific outlook" they have in mind is one which, by definition, excludes God from any role in the world, from the Big Bang to the present. So this is fundamentally a religious position-a fundamentalist position, if you like--and it's being taught in the schools as a fact when it isn't even a good theory. Why should Christians be concerned about a scientific theory? Why does it matter? Well, not only Christians should care about it. Everyone should. It is religion in the name of science, and that means that it is misleading people about both religion and science. 3. Well thanks a lot for taking interest. When Prabhupada says, varnashram should be introduced he of course wants to establish Lord Caitanya's merciful global Sankirtan Mission and that everybody should be connected with the Sankirtan Mission of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu through varnashram and all should go home back to Godhead. Somehow we find instead Vaishnavas who explain who is fallen and who is not fallen, "I'm good, you're bad", but what happened with the quality of mercifulness? Isnt this Lord Caitanya's spirit of saving all the conditioned soul? Instead prominent gurus write articles: "we failed to introduce varnashram and spread Lord Caitanya's mercy with the tool of varnashram because we are not fallen, although Prabhupada told us to introduce varnashram with the perspective of saving all the conditioned souls, we don't know how to do it, but we are experimenting and learn through our mistakes. Meanwhile we feel real sorry about so many thousands of ISKCON members having left, but they're fallen."
  4. Ravindra Svarupa prabhu clearly states that for him it was possible to transcend the modes of material nature and become situated in the liberated platform but considers others within ISKCON as struggling with the modes and not able to achieve his state of spiritual realization - a long analysis but with a missing solution and disappointing. It also doesnt come to his mind what Srila Prabhupada could have really meant - that it is a great loss for the society when devotees leave and that this great loss is what should be solved. Not to lose devotees. This is of course never the intention of present ISKCON, to make devotees stay and create powerful congregations but to simply exploit them for a certain period of time and at one point be happy when they're gone and an elite of leaders who take profit from this kind of setup. For this I could collect signatures and would get an awful lot!
  5. In his article, "ISKCON and Varnasrama-Dharma: A Mission Unfulfilled", Ravindra Svarupa das leaves us with an ambivalent conclusion: Yes, we know what to do but we have not yet tried to do. He tries to explain this contradiction by saying, "it seems that even Prabhupada’s ideas changed", and "In the application of principle to practice we frequently must have recourse to the method of ‘trial-and-error.’ ‘You learn from experience,’ Prabhupada is often quoted as saying. ‘And experience means you make mistakes." However, Prabhupada's words are beyond doubt: Prabhupada: Vaisnava is not so easy. The varnasrama-dharma should be established to become a Vaisnava. It is not so easy to become Vaisnava. Hari-sauri: No, it’s not a cheap thing. Prabhupada: Yes. Therefore this should be made. Vaisnava, to become Vaisnava, is not so easy. If Vaisnava, to become Vaisnava is so easy, why so many fall down? It is not easy. Hari-sauri: No, but in our society practically everyone is being raised to that platform. So then one might ask what is … Prabhupada: That is - Everybody is being raised, but they’re falling down. (Room Conversation: Mayapura, 14 February 1977) Ravindra Swarupa das' conclusion: At least what can be said is that there is some inner conflict and no clear concept how to proceed.

  8. Tamohara das seems to gradually realize that the GBC can hardly be understood by logic and reason. Sannyasa, or Sans Us? BY: TAMOHARADASA (ACBSP) May 15, CALGARY, CANADA (SUN) — About a year ago, I wrote to HH Prahladananda Swami to receive an application for sannyasa. I received the application, but a vow of allegiance to the GBC was a main feature. I wrote back, saying that I couldn't sign such a vow, that I was dedicated to Prabhupada's Iskcon, not to some questionable GBC body. In response, he has refused to reply to my inquiries, and apparently also in what I perceive as a mood of political censorship, did not print an offering on my part to the Vaisnava health ministry publication about speech and language development among Iskcon infants, etc. despite saying he would do so before he received my denial of the GBC body as a body worthy of vowing one's sannyasa to. I am an audiologist by profession, and have a degree also in speech and language pathology, so I am well qualified. His change of mind and refusal to reply to me spoke volumes. Srila Prabhupada specifically told all of us brahmanas to take sannyasa in later years. Iskcon has perverted that natural varna-ashrama function to instead be a rare annointing of "cardinals", a fact in opposition to the natural Vaisnava system. Instead of thousands of renounced preachers, we have a handful of "special" persons, and sannyasis handling daily management affairs. Gour Keshava Maharajah pointed this discrepancy out on Dandavats, near the begining of that website, in response to my question about how to go about taking sannyasa, saying that eventually Iskcon will have to rectify this strange arrangement. On behalf of the many senior devotees who have been instructed by Prabhupada to take sannyasa in their old age, I am wondering how Iskcon GBC justifies demanding a vow of loyalty to their arguably corrupt system instead of to Sri Krsna Mahaprabhu and Srila Prabhupada? Do they think that oppressing the truthful brahmanas will be good for their schemes?
  9. When 300,000,000 Americans voted presidents like Bill Clinton or G.W. Bush to lead their state aren't they somehow all involved? What happens in former Yugoslavia is surely dramatic but is also the resultant karma of the so called victims as well. But this is what people don't understand and therefore blame God for allowing an unjust world to flourish right before their eyes. Basically this is the main reason of modern atheism - people say, if there would be a God, He wouldnt allow all this mischief to go on......

  11. Well, yes, Devarsirat prabhu that seems to be a real bad mayavadha swamp, sorry for this post - you're a good watchdog. The idea was to have some better quality ringtone sound than this cheep, cheep at http://www.jswami.info/ring_ring_hare_krishna . But anyhow this is a testforum, so as usual the mayavadhis have better quality in their presentation than the Vaishnavas? Where're the nice bhakti-yoga ringtones? Again, thanks for your considerate discretion of remembering the Schloß Rettershof era, yes, Schloß Rettershof near Frankfurt, a Rotschild property, where the "German" Vaishnavas devotedly paid in sum over the years 8 mio dollar rent for being - too bad, "Hitler's offspring" (Sriman Hansadutta prabhu's wise conclusion), all the small temples, Hamburg, Berlin, Munic, Heidelberg carefully being closed "to have them all nicely together in the Schloß with some secret machine gun arsenal and additionally 1 mio dollar of illegal collected Sankirtan Laxmi right at an account of the Bad Homburg Rothschild bank, always ready to be conviscated by court order".... But this is past, now they're by GBC resolution in debt of 1,5 million dollar because they remorsefully signed the papers that Messiah Harikes' bank transfer of 5 million dollar to sunny Florida was 100% fully righteous. Anyhow, looks like you did the perfect right thing and quickly emigrated to UK, good decision - Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha-Gokulananda are most beautiful!

  14. This can be said when we have completed our homework of having distributed the yuga-dharma to its fullest extent. Before this is reached we somehow have to enter the mud of things like Charles Darwin didn't even know what DNA was when 'On the Origin of Species' was published in 1859 and this is where evolutionary materialism is totally confused: Reproduction of the genetic material of even a monad is far too complex in order to develop by chance but reproduction is the engine driving the whole evolutionary process. "How is it that the first living beings 350,000,000 years ago already had the power of replication fully developped?" Darwin writes. "How is it that life came with this fundamentally purposive capability pre-installed?" Darwin himself admitted in 'Origin of Species' his whole theory rests on the existence of an unexplained being already in possession of reproductive powers "into which life was first breathed." Now gradually science sequences the whole dimension of for example human genome, installed within 3 billion DNA base pairs, the central regions of each chromosome, known as centromeres, which are highly repetitive DNA sequences that are difficult to sequence using current technology. http://www.bi.up.ac.za/Ehrlichia_ruminantium/Genome_Map/Genome_Map.html The centromeres are millions (possibly tens of millions) of base pairs long, and for the most part these are entirely unsequenced. Second, the ends of the chromosomes, called telomeres, are also highly repetitive, and for most of the 46 chromosome ends these too are incomplete. They do not know precisely how much sequence remains before to reach the telomeres of each chromosome, but as with the centromeres, current technology does not make it easy to get there. Third, there are several loci in each individual's genome that contain members of multigene families that are difficult to disentangle with shotgun sequencing methodologies - these multigene families often encode proteins important for immune functions. It is likely that the centromeres and telomeres will remain unsequenced until new technology is developed that facilitates their sequencing. Other than these regions, there remain a few dozen gaps scattered around the genome, some of them rather large, but again there is hope that all these will be closed again in "near furture". In summary: they claim of having completed about 92% of the genome. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base_pair Most of the remaining DNA is highly repetitive and unlikely to contain genes, but they cannot truly know until they sequence all of it. Understanding the functions of all the genes and their regulation is far from complete. The roles of junk DNA, the evolution of the genome, the differences between individuals, and many other questions are still the subject of intense study by laboratories all over the world. But still they say, no, the vedic version that all this can function requires constant supervision by an intelligent Being, has to be rejected.
  15. Somehow Prabhupada must have felt not really happy about so many sannyasis and devotees with leading potential deviated or left, Bali Mardan, Syamasundara, Karandhar, Revatinanda, etc. There were quite a lot disciples who Prabhupada considered as persons whom he can trust but suddenly really disappointed him. In 1975 after a dispute Harikes run away, somehow Harikes reconsidered and went on his own to Europe. His idea of resigning from managerial activities and simply translate books actually didnt work in fact his leaders kept him bussy more and more. So he might not have followed a system because he personnally supervised everything constantly. Presently there should be definetly a foolproof system which makes people, especially within the movement, confident that the management can be trusted.
  16. Good question for Guruvani prabhu - can Srila Prabhupada's books answer all our questions or do we sometimes have to ask a living Vaishnava in order to get the right answer? For example, I read Srimad-Bhagavatam and daily chant Hare Krishna, the question might come up, am I advancing in spiritual live properly or is there something what can be improved? Do you mean such a question?
  17. Probably the only solution: "They should remain for good", should be stopped and that the GBC shall consist of devotees who shall each serve an initial three year term. (DOM 7/28/70) What automatically results in transparency of bookkeeping because your re-election depends upon quality of work and you have to render an account of all your made decisions. http://www.krishna.org/dom/dom.pdf
  18. Thanks to "GuestwhoaddressSuchandra" for this important job of repeating Srila Prabhupada’s teachings to the world about what is actually the real point why Prabhupada came to US in September of 1965. Prabhupada was asked repeatedly, “why do you bring us another religion - we have in US already 9000 registered religions”? Prabhupada’s simple reply was, Krishna Consciousness is the only religion, because it is not a worldly concoction but directly presenting the words of Krishna without adulteration - Krishna’s teachings like Bhagavad-Gita which are above the four defects of conditioned souls. In sum, according my understanding and what surely all Vaishnavas stand for - to present to suffering humanity not something defective but the errorless knowledge of vedic wisdom as translated and commented by Srila Prabhupada in his books/lectures/letters, especially when it comes to the central point of any religion – diksa, baptism.
  19. Srila Prabhupada: Until these world leaders read my books and take to this Vedic culture, what kind of civilization will they have? Dog race. Horse race. They want this. Rat race. That's all. Their civilization is a race. Dog race. Horse race. Rat race. The citizens do not know anything about this great science of the soul. Modern civilization means that people are simply becoming rascals, animals. Of course, strictly speaking, theirs is a motor race. They have advanced beyond the common dog race to a motor race. But if a doggish person is running not on four legs but on four wheels, does that mean he is not a dog? It is the same race. The same race--whether by running on four legs or on four wheels. The race is the same, and the dog is the same. So this civilization is a glorified dog race. Modern man does not know, "I may feel proud of racing around in a car, but is there any value if I do not understand the meaning of my life?" Hmm? So this is going on. A big, big highway for dog racing--that is modern civilization. And when rascal yogis and swamis present their version of the Vedic culture, they say something like, "By this transcendental meditation you will keep your dog race very nice." In reality, these yogis and swamis are bewildered by this materialistic civilization. "Oh, very nice. It is very nice." That's all. In Bhagavad-gita Krishna describes such personalities. Mohitam nabhijanati mam ebhyah param avyayam: "Bewildered by the modes of material nature, fools and rascals do not know Me, who am above the modes and inexhaustible." The modern world is filled with such mudhas, rascals. So, again, the only hope is that you distribute my books as much as possible. In London there is a big stadium for dog racing. Do you know that? Many people go to see the dogs race. Disciple: In America dog racing is very popular, as well. Here in Denver, people love to go. Srila Prabhupada: To the dog race? [Laughter.] Disciple: We've gone there, too, Srila Prabhupada, to distribute your books. Srila Prabhupada: In Australia, also--Sydney--oh, they are very fond of dog racing. Many men take their big dogs for racing. (morning walk in Denver, Colorado, on June 28, 1975)

Kṛṣṇa will see to it. What are we Going to Do About It? BY: RAVI DASA May 11, VRINDAVAN, INDIA (SUN) — A response to Mahavidya Prabhu. Thank you for your thoughtful response . I heard the natural compassion of a devotee in your statements. In the original article there was no mention of “Do we wish to destroy everyone who makes a mistake, get rid of them, eradicate or obliterate them?” A coup does not require that anyone is destroyed or eradicated. The GBC have become an elitist oligarchy. They have overstepped their “management authority” position and have deviated from the Srila Prabhupada's advice on how to run and manage the society. This is clearly shown by the lack of senior devotees still willing to work with ISKCON, and how many of Srila Prabhupada's disciples are still actively serving in ISKCON (does anyone have an accurate number?) A few of the symptoms of this present malaise are, the decrease in book sales around the world, reduced Harinam chanting parties and the lack of developed “simple living, high thinking” communities. In the thirty years since Srila Prabhupada entered Samadhi, we have seen a string of disasters, abuse cover-ups, falldowns, murder and mayhem. I am amazed that the devotees still feel that the GBC have any mandate or competency to manage. These devotees only have the authority we are willing to give them. Isn’t it about time that someone said “the emperor has no clothes?” The last thing we want is another version of the GBC who don’t listen, are isolated from the devotees, who are addicted to position and power. They abuse their position and devotees through fear of aparadha, faultfinding and criticism. They tenuously hang on to their position through a tissue of interpretation, using Srila Prabhupada's DOM to justify their position and conveniently ignoring His request that they be an elected body. We are not playing “king of the hill”, where we substitute one bad management for another. Has it come to the stage where there has been such poor leadership for so long we have forgotten that leaders can be kind, compassionate and honest? The coup I am suggesting is simply to topple the existing oligarchy, establish an accountable elected management structure and regain the mercy of the spiritual master by following His instructions. I am not suggesting that the talented individual devotees who make up the GBC have to be taken away and shot. In fact the opposite is true. If there was less “management” and more leadership then a lot of the anger that the devotees feel in regard to the issues that arise in many of the letters and articles I read would evaporate. We are tinkering at the edges of the issue. Whining and complaining about “them” is not going to get us anywhere. Isn’t it about time that we addressed the core problem? The devotees want to serve, but they want to feel confident that they are being cared for and not exploited. It is axiomatic and must be transparently clear that the mission we are on is that which Srila Prabhupada has given to us. You cannot legislate and implement humility, it is a natural quality of a sincere devotee. Similarly how can we make laws that dictate that the guru has to understand that all his disciples are there by the mercy of his spiritual master to assist him in carrying out his spiritual master's mission? He is guru because he is submissive to the order of his guru, he is a leader because he is a follower. All these wonderful qualities must be observed in a qualified leader. Real leaders will inspire the devotees through their personal example. They don’t have to resort to new age management strategies. It is doubtful that the current GBC will ever agree to elections. If they did, how many of them do you think would be elected? We should be demanding elections, and until they are implemented why should we pay the current crop of failures to make any of their empty pontifications and useless management strategies? They are fake, phony and without value. It is about time we all accepted some culpability. We followed like sheep, disempowered and feeling helpless, now we are making a lot of noise but very little action to actually do anything about it. There are nice devotees, dedicated to Srila Prabhupada, honest and sincere, they should come forward and step up to the plate. They may make mistakes, we all do. But if they could inspire the devotees, then the mistakes would be like spots on the moon. Mahavidya prabhu hit the nail on the head when he outlined the qualities that leaders need to posses, he said: one who is open to feedback........ one who is open to constructive criticism.... one who is willing to have a forum for dialogue. What makes a good Iskcon manager? First and foremost, a dedication to carrying out Srila Prabhupada's wishes... not mine, not yours, But His even imperfectly. They say that you get the leaders you deserve; well I for one don’t think the movement deserves the “leaders” it has at the moment. But as always, the $64,000 dollar question is not “do we all agree”, but “what are we going to do about it?”
  22. The Spiritual Quest of George Harrison http://hinduism.about.com/library/weekly/aa120501a.htm "Through Hinduism, I feel a better person. I just get happier and happier. I now feel that I am unlimited, and I am more in control…" ~ George Harrison (1943-2001 Harrison was perhaps the most spiritual of popular musicians the world has ever known. His spiritual quest began in his mid 20s, when he realized for the first time that "Everything else can wait, but the search for God cannot..." This search led him to delve deep into the mystical world of Eastern religions, especially Hinduism, Indian philosophy, culture, and music. Harrison had a great affinity towards India. In 1966, he traveled to India to study the sitar with Pandit Ravi Shankar. In search of social and personal liberation, he met Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, which prompted him to give up LSD and take up meditation. In the summer of 1969, the Beatles produced the single "Hare Krishna Mantra", performed by Harrison and the devotees of the Radha-Krishna Temple, London that topped the 10 best-selling record charts throughout UK, Europe, and Asia. The same year, he and fellow Beatle John Lennon met Swami Prabhupada, the founder of the global Hare Krishna Movement, at Tittenhurst Park, England. This introduction was to Harrison "like a door opened somewhere in my subconscious, maybe from a previous life." Soon after, Harrison embraced the Hare Krishna tradition and remained a plainclothes devotee or 'closet Krishna', as he called himself, till his last day of earthy existence. The Hare Krishna mantra, which according to him is nothing but "mystical energy encased in a sound structure," became an integral part of his life. Harrison once said, "Imagine all the workers on the Ford assembly line in Detroit, all of them chanting Hare Krishna Hare Krishna while bolting on the wheels..." <table align="left" bgcolor="#cccccc" border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="1" width="205"> <tbody><tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr bgcolor="#ffffff"> <td> Hindu symbolism on the cover of Harrison's Album Dark Horse </td> </tr> </tbody></table> Harrison recalled how he and Lennon kept on singing the mantra while sailing through the Greek islands, "because you couldn't stop once you got going…It was like as soon as you stop, it was like the lights went out." Later in an interview with Krishna devotee Mukunda Goswami he explained how chanting helps one identify with the Almighty: "God's all happiness, all bliss, and by chanting His names we connect with Him. So it's really a process of actually having a realization of God, which all becomes clear with the expanded state of consciousness that develops when you chant." He also took to vegetarianism. As he said: "Actually, I wised up and made sure I had dal bean soup or something every day." Harrison didn't stop at that, he wanted to meet God face to face... Harrison's Idea of God & Reincarnation In the introduction Harrison wrote for Swami Prabhupada's book Krsna, he says: "If there's a God, I want to see Him. It's pointless to believe in something without proof, and Krishna consciousness and meditation are methods where you can actually obtain God perception. In that way you can see, hear & play with God. Perhaps this may sound weird, but God is really there next to you." While addressing what he calls "one of our perennial problems, whether there is actually a God", Harrison wrote: "From the Hindu point of view each soul is divine. All religions are branches of one big tree. It doesn't matter what you call Him just as long as you call. Just as cinematic images appear to be real but are only combinations of light and shade, so is the universal variety a delusion. The planetary spheres, with their countless forms of life, are naught but figures in a cosmic motion picture. One's values are profoundly changed when he is finally convinced that creation is only a vast motion picture and that not in, but beyond, lies his own ultimate reality." Harrison's albums The Hare Krishna Mantra, My Sweet Lord, All Things Must Pass, Living in the Material World and Chants of India were all influenced to a great extent by the Hare Krishna philosophy. His song "Awaiting on You All" is about japa-yoga. The song "Living in the Material World," which ends with the line "Got to get out of this place by the Lord Sri Krishna's grace, my salvation from the material world" was influenced by Swami Prabhupada. "That Which I Have Lost" from the album Somewhere in England is directly inspired by the Bhagavad Gita. For the 30th anniversary re-issue of his All Things Must Pass (2000), Harrison re-recorded his ode to peace, love and Hare Krishna, "My Sweet Lord," which topped the American and British charts in 1971. Here Harrison wanted to show that "Hallelujah and Hare Krishna are quite the same thing." George Harrison passed away on November 29, 2001 at the age of 58. The images of Lord Ramaand Lord Krishnawere beside his bed as he died amidst the chants and prayers. Harrison left £ 20 million for the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). Harrison wished that his earthly body be cremated and the ashes immersed in the Ganges, near the holy Indian city of Varanasi. Harrison firmly believed that "life on Earth is but a fleeting illusion edged between lives past and future beyond physical mortal reality." Speaking on reincarnation in 1968, he said: "You go on being reincarnated until you reach the actual Truth. Heaven and Hell are just a state of mind. We are all here to become Christ-like. The actual world is an illusion." [Hari Quotes, compiled by Aya & Lee] He also said: "The living thing that goes on, always has been, always will be. I am not really George, but I happen to be in this body."
  23. Well, Darwin is of course being used as sacrificial lamb - his evolution theory perfectly serves the present global players strategy of simply going to the level to exploit and cheat humanity and mother earth left and right and act the fool by pointing to "approved" Darwinism when some little Vaishnava mentions, "all the living entities are Krishna's eternal parts and have to be treated with great care". Presently, all over Europe they spent millions to print it in all the school books: Approved: Darwinism is scientific. Additionally, utmost convenient, the global elite doesnt have to reveal their own "secret religion" of considering 99.9999% of human beings as: "Coming from three satanic spheres - whereas our souls stem from pure holiness. In fact, compared to our race, other races are beasts and animals, cattle at best. Other races are considered as human excrement. Our destiny is to rule over the inferior races. Our earthly kingdom will be ruled by our leader with a rod of iron. The masses will lick our feet and serve us as our slaves. We are as different from the inferior races as they are from insects. We dont sanction or allow mixed marriages among our people." Indeed, if Charles Darwin would have known that his theory would be used for this kind of demoniac strategy of seducing innocent people into sinful living and going to hell he surely would have reconsidered.
  24. When Harikes mobbed me out of ISKCON in 1988, after having served Prabhupada's movement for 17 years, me and none of my godbrothers/sisters who one by one were also mobbed out of ISKCON knew about this letter. So it is clear that the GBC considered this letter as completely useless and kept it hidden. I came to know about the existence of that letter in 1998/99. At that time all of European yatras were already changed into a movement with new statutes and non-initiating Prabhupada disciples all mobbed out.
  25. Hopefully Mr. Mickey Singer who founded the Alachua Hare Krishna Temple of the Universe still sticks to his decision of having donated the ISKCON Alachua Temple. Alachua police get new software, thanks to $100,000 donation by millionaire http://www.highspringsherald.com/articles/2007/05/10/news/news09.txt By Drew Harwell For The Herald <table align="right" border="0" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0" width=""><tbody><tr><td class="photo-right"> </td></tr> <tr><td class="photo-right" width=""> </td> </tr></tbody></table> ALACHUA -- The Alachua Police Department will be receiving a much-needed hardware and software upgrade, thanks to a $100,000 donation from a local philanthropist, the same man who started the Hare Krishna Temple of the Universe in Alachua. Police Chief Robert Jernigan told the Alachua City Commission Monday night that the new law enforcement computer system, produced by USA Software, will help police better report information, track crimes and network with other agencies. The upgrade will be solely funded by a gift to the city from millionaire software developer Mickey Singer, a man who made his millions after starting an Alachua-based medical software company called Medical Manager. Jernigan said the police department’s current law enforcement system, bought in 1998, is outdated and can only use text. Reports generated by the software are hard to understand and incompatible with other local departments. The new system is expected to fix these flaws while also speeding up mapping and police requests. Jernigan said a typical records search, which takes the current system three days to process, should take minutes. “It’s that fast," he said. "It’s just unbelievable. Wish we had it 10 years ago.” Police Major Clayton Reiter said the new Windows-based programs will most likely be in place by August. The software and hardware adjustments will be used department-wide, including in vehicle-mounted laptops for officers in the field. <table align="right" border="0" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0" width="5"><tbody><tr> <td align="center"><!-- end ZEDO for channel: TownNews , publisher: DotConnect , Ad Dimension: Medium Rectangle - 300 x 250 --> </td></tr></tbody></table> “We are in the electronic world now,” Reiter said. “Everyone wants information right now.” City Manager Clovis Watson Jr. said that the donation from Singer came after he visited with Watson and inquired about any needs the city may have. Watson said he told Singer about the police department's woeful computer system and that Singer decided to focus his donation on fixing that problem. <table align="left" border="0" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0" width=""><tbody><tr><td class="photo-left"> </td></tr> <tr><td class="photo-left" width=""> </td></tr></tbody></table> <table align="right" border="0" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0" width=""><tbody><tr><td class="photo-right"> </td></tr><tr><td class="photo-right" width=""> </td></tr></tbody></table>
