  1. to India. I do not know about those verses or those references. But I can definitely tell you, that, the true Varnashramadharma has got degenerated in today's caste structure. Varnashramadharma was made so as to give equal opportunities to all in the society to earn their livelihood based on their available skill and capability. Everybody's work was considered to be important for the society and its members. Slowly, some people attached some kind of stigma to some jobs and the same stigma to those who did those jobs too. Slowly there was alienation of this large group of people doing such menial jobs from those, who did white-collar jobs. Thus the degeneration set-in. It was the handiwork of a few handfuls, who existed everywhere and made use of this Varnashramdharma towards their benefit, pushing others in the corner. Those people in the corner are the people belonging to today's lower castes. Now that the true Varnashramadharma has degenerated to such an extent, that personally I feel, the caste system may never go away!
  2. Does anyone know a website where the lyrics of Meera's bhajans are given? Does anyone have the lyrics with him/her?
  3. on your mind (Samskaras) are very strong since you preferred to live the life of a hippie birth after birth. Seemingly, you enjoyed this type of life, until, now in this birth, you have actually got tired of this type of life. Your soul yearns for Almighty, but your mind wants to drag you back to the same old ways of sense-gratification. This tug-of-war between good and bad is what you have described in your post. The service, the chanting, the devotion, nothing is wasted, as you are thinking. Nobody has become a saint overnight. This is the beginning. You must be happy that a beginning has been made. Just continue on this path of chanting the holy name, and you would Certainly reach your Go(al)D.
  4. In one of your earlier posts, (I think, it was about the ancient bridge between India and SriLanka), you had very clearly written that, the present SriLanka was not the one, where Sita was kept under captivity, but it was some other place, as the distance of SriLanka and India has been described to be 800 Yojanas and not merely 30 km. I am confused. The time period mentioned in your post also invalidates the time frame given for each Yuga, as it would appear that Lord Ramachandra was physically present about 2 million years back.
  5. <There are unlimited souls in existence (spiritual and material existence together). 99.9% of all souls are in the spiritual realm.> I suppose, you mean, not all of these 99.9% souls are in Vaikuntha, but spiritual planes, other than material planes like earth. Am I right?
  6. What you are referring to is classified as Kriyamana Karma, which can fructify in fairly short duration, but not necessarily the way you are explaining. Though it could happen that way. It is also possible that you would have done some other good deed earlier (without your knowledge, but with His knowledge), that would make you receive that dollar. It would also mean that, the man paid or became your benefactor, as he 'owed' something to you, in the previous birth. Sin of terrible magnitude and good Merits of extreme magnitude result in the instantaneous fructification of the Karma. Hiranyakashyapu kicking the pillar is an example of this, Shishupala getting beheaded is another.
  7. Good or Bad, which results in some kind of reaction, results in Karma, unless the fruits of the actions are surrendered to the Lord. It has also been said that, a typical action of donating some money to someone, does not necessarily result in that person, giving us equal amount of money in the subsequent birth. As many factors like, your purpose (how pure/impure it was and so on.) and many factors come into picture. Unfortunately, most of us are engaged in all sorts of actions, for the whole of our lives, without ever realising their Sanchit Karma.
  8. due to the deeds in the past lives. One simply cannot do away with it, is my personal experience. My life is more or less is like yours! A loveless life where my wife lives with me like a co-passenger in a train compartment, busy nursing her ego all the time. Just imagine the type of life I am leading! But I console myself that, it was my own past Karma, I am paying for and try to do Sadhana (I am not sure, if it can be called so) to the best of my ability. I pray God to give me mental, physical strength to fight the odds and help me continue to do my Sadhana. Why do not you do the same? One day God must take pity on us. Don't you think so?
  9. But I am still very much an Indian, a Hindu and a deep believer of Sanatana Dharma. External attributes are not always necessary (sometimes, these things might help someone to develope the feeling of 'belonging') for the developement of Sattvic Guna and the devotion to the Lord. I know, many Siddhas, Yogis wear nothing, are they not Self-Realised souls? They are. At the end only the PURE DEVOTION and LOVE for God counts.
  10. is also very potent. Chanting his/her name has equal efficacy. In BhagavadaGita, Lord has declared that, He becomes happy, whenever, His devotees are praised.
  11. I was told that the, control of sense organs other than tongue was possible, but control of tongue was the most difficult. Somebody, like JNPrabhu can throw some light on these matters, I suppose.
  12. This is what I would have liked to say.
  13. The exists are truelly crowded because, everyone wants to LEAVE and not simply chitchat and waste time. A large gathering and only A door, there would be crowd. According to you, there are devotees elsewhere too. I agree to that, but do they have conducive environment for continuing Bhakti? I had been to US, I could not find anything of this sort there. Everything there was connected to Materials as if the Materials was the centre of the lives of people there. Where can a devotee find true Satsang among people who are themselves struggling to understand the true meaning of life?
  14. One of my spiritually inclined friends told me that, the constant increase in the population of India, was due to the fact that, India was the Exit leading to the road to Salvation (Moksha), as Exists Are Always Crowded. I found it quite reasonable as our rich cultural heritage, scriptures that teach us everything from mundane to the eternal. The rest of the world has been constantly under the influence of Material contamination, which is increasing further due to the craze of so-called scientic invention and Technological advancement. Both these factors are making our lives more comfortable, but take us away from God. That is why, those who are truly spiritually evolved (wherever they may be) finally take birth in India to realise God. Any comments?
  15. Yes, Pritaaji is absolutely right. I was about to write the same comment. The soul, deprived of its untimely covering wanders in the space and is really tormented. Not only the person sins more by committing suicide, but the Sanchit Karma that he/she was about the pay or complete also remains incomplete. This angers God. Those who commit suicide by consuming poison are born as poisonous snakes on a solitary mountain where nothing grows. When he/she is born agains as a human, he/she is born with an additional disability as punishment for ending his/her life prematurely. When such a situation arises in one's life, one should offer sincere prayers to his spiritual master.
  16. I am very happy to see the camaraderie among all the members here.
  17. <1. If Karna, had not given away his kawach-kundal, Arjun would have never defeated him.> Any father would do anything to save his son, Indra did exactly the same, what is wrong in it? Karna gave away Kawach-kundal in order to protect his name and fame as,"Danaveershoor Karna". That is OK. But this very Karna, lied when he had go get a deadly weapon to Parashurama that he was a brahmin. did he not? Did he not participate in the trecherous killing of Abhimanyu, who was just 16 then? Did he not call Draupadi as prostitute? His downfall was sure with so many mistakes from him. Do remember one thing, when Karna was trying to remove the wheel of his chariot, he was unarmed and Arjuna was unwilling to kill him. Arjuna just followed the instructions of Keshava and killed him. Everything was His plane. <2. Bhima, hit Duryodhana near crotch ( Krishna'a gesture) area which was not legal in the kind of battle they fought.> Those who where themselves unscrouplus like Kauravas, what can they expect from others? They made every attempt to defeat Pandavas by fair and unfair means. They indulged in conspiracies to eliminate Pandavas (trying to burn Pandavas in Lakshagriha, poisoning the Kheer of Bhima and so on.). They left no stone unturned, to drive away Pandavas without giving them the due share of the Hastinapur Kingdom. Can they expect any mercy from the Lord? surely not. That is why Lord instructed Bhima to kill Duryodhana. Both the acts are completely justified. Lord gives us the fruits of OUR Karma impartially.
  18. chance for every human to reach Him in every life. However, how many of us truly follow the footsteps of a true saint? How many of us do Nishkam service, where nothing in return is expected from God for the devotional service that we offer to Him? How many of us have subdued our elephantine ego? All these bad qualities in us, taken us down the spiral, unless of course we try to eliminate them. Those who act more like animals, are given birth by God as animals, so that they can fulfil there animal kind of desires satisfactorily. There are many examples, wherein, the myth, "Once a human, always a human" is exploded.
  19. tell, but I am afraid, if someone passes any inappropriate remarks about my Sadguru, I will not be able to take it.
  20. Human beings are born in three modes of nature. 1) Satva: The humans in this mode are noble, pure devotees with righteous conduct and go to higher planets after death (or get even salvation), 2) Rajas: The humans in this mode have almost a mixture of good and bad qualities. These people are likely to be born as humans according to their Karma, 3) Tamas: Mode of Ignorance or Passion. People born in this mode are slaves of their passion and behave like animals. Such people are likely to be born as animals. Those who are gluttons, never think of doing anything other than eating, are born as either pigs or goats. In both ways, God gives them enough opportunity to eat whatever they like. By the way, who are druze, could you please explain?
  21. I read somewhere (do not remember where) that Lord Krishna 'lived' for 180 years and Arjuna lived for 150 yrs. Does anyone have any information on this?
  22. However, most of the movies made here are copies of the previous hits and have typical formual and nothing new. There was a time in 50s, 60s and early 70s when movies used to run due to good story lines, melodious music and good acting besides direction. Present movies offer nothing new.
  23. to say the least. Where are we going? What is our destination? Why God-consciousness has left us? Oh! God pleaes help us and save us from committing such inhuman crimes.
  24. But I do not know what Buddhists preach. Do they talk of God at all? What kind of worship do they offer to God? Are they against Hinduism and Hindus, which is very common these days ?
