  1. "I offer my respectful obeisances unto all the Vaishnava devotees of the Lord. They are just like desire trees who can fulfill the desires of everyone, and they are full of compassion for the conditioned souls.' He takes responsibility for all the conditioned souls. That is the idea is also in the Bible. Jesus Christ took all the reactions of the people and sacrifice his life. That is the responsibility of the spiritual master."

Perfect Answers, Perfect Questions, Ch. 6

"A Vaishnava should follow the example of such Vaishnava's as Haridas Thakura, Nityananda Prabhu and also Lord Jesus Christ."

    SB 4:6:47

"The Sanskrit word avatara literally means "he who descends." One who descends from the spiritual universe into the material universe through his own will is called an avatara. Sometimes Sri Krsna descends Himself, and sometimes He sends His representative. The major religions of the world--Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, and Moslem -- believe in some supreme authority or personality coming down from the kingdom of God. In the Christian religion, Jesus Christ claimed to be the son of God and to be coming from the kingdom of God to reclaim conditioned souls. As followers of Bhagavad-gita, we admit this claim to be true."

Raja Vidya, Ch. 6, Knowledge of Krishna's Appearance and Activities

"Lord Jesus Christ, for instance, was God Conscious, Krishna Conscious but he was not satisfied in keeping his knowledge within himself."

    Path Of Perfection, Ch. 5

"Lord Jesus Christ, he is saktyavesa-avatara, God's son. And he tolerated so much. These are the examples of mahatma. Don't misunderstand that we are preaching mahatma's are only in India. No."

    S.B. 5.5.3, Vrindavana India, October 25, 1976

"Jesus Christ was such a great personality-the son of God, the representative of God. He had no fault. Still, he was crucified. He wanted to deliver God consciousness, but in return they crucified him-they were so thankless. They could not appreciate his preaching. But we appreciate him and give him all honor as the representative of God.

"Of course, the message that Christ preached was just according to his particular time, place, and country, and just suited for a particular group of people. But certainly he is the representative of God. Therefore we adore Lord Jesus Christ and offer our obeisances to him.

"Once, in Melbourne, a group of Christian ministers came to visit me. They asked, "What is your idea of Jesus Christ?" I told them, "He is our guru. He is preaching God consciousness, so he is our spiritual master." The ministers very much appreciated that.

"Actually, anyone who is preaching God's glories must be accepted as a guru. Jesus Christ is one such great personality. We should not think of him as an ordinary human being. The scriptures say that anyone who considers the spiritual master to be an ordinary man has a hellish mentality. If Jesus Christ were an ordinary man, then he could not have delivered God consciousness."

Srimati Prtha devi dasi has written an excellent three-part essay called Christ & Krishna . The above quotes were copied from that essay. Interested readers should check out the entire three parts, a long read, but worth it IMHO.

  2. Out of the thousands of photographs I shot during Gaura Mandala Parikrama, this was Puru's favorite. He is eating a chocolate ice cream bar at ISKCON Mayapur, a thousand yards away from the GBC meetings. He loved the controversy of the chocolate issue, and chocolate tasted especially good after the GBC banned it, but did not stop selling it. The other devotees in the picture are laughing at one of his many funny comments.

Puru leaves behind a wife and three daughters. We miss him dearly and the BVML website will continue on in his honor and the direction of the Vaisnava Acaryas.

I will be creating a photo album of his Mayapur trip soon for others to view.

  3. Puru Prabhu has indeed left our material vision. He passed away yesterday afternoon near his home in Queens, New York. He was running errands for the BVML website, buying blank CD disks for a project we were working on (producing a CD copy of the BVML website w/o the multimedia, for reference use).

He had just returned from a six month visit in India, in which I was with him the last few weeks. His health was very good, except for the swollen leg issue. Even that was getting better with Western medical attention.

This was very sudden and unexpected, I had just spoken with him over the phone hours earlier, and he was fine.

Services are being held this weekend in New York, if anyone needs more information you may email me at aog9mm at

  4. Good to here from ya, dawg! :D Hope everything is well with you and your family.

You know, I just spent a week in Mayapur recently, and dozens of folks I met for the first time gave thanks and encouragement for the site. Even had a short meeting with Srila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Maharaja [President/Acharya of the Sri Chaitanya Gaudiya Math]. No one mentioned my personal mundane pages.:ponder:

Puru and I are burning CDs of the BVML site w/o the multimedia -- it will still have all of Srila Prabhupada's books, Srila Sridhar Mj's books, and Srila BV Narayan Mj's books on it for offline viewing/research. If you are still at that same address from where you mailed the Tesla book from, I'll snailmail you a CD.

You know, I have lots of Muslin friends. Some are even Palestinians. On my way back from Mayapur last week, I had a 14-hour layover in Dubai and had a chance to talk with many Muslims. They all hate the Islamists and jihadis as much as I do!

    Best regards,

    rX

A Nepalese teenager hailed as a reincarnation of the Buddha has vanished for a second time in southern Nepal, a member of his support committee said Saturday. Ram Bahadur Bomjam, 17, who shot to fame in 2005 when his supporters said he had begun a meditation session that would go on uninterrupted for years, went missing on Thursday night, the committee member said.

    SGE.EHO65.100307215435.photo00.quicklook.default-185x245.jpg

"He suddenly disappeared from his meditating site in the jungle of Bara," said Raju Shah, a member of the committee set up after the boy became a local media sensation.

"He told his priest Indra Lama that he would meditate somewhere in other undisclosed locations."

Local media dubbed Bomjan "Buddha Boy" after supporters said he had been meditating for months without food, water or sleep, and tens of thousands of people flocked to see him.

He first disappeared in March 2006, telling his supporters the site had become too crowded.

Nine months later he reappeared and was set up at a new site by the committee, but this time visitors have been sparse.

Scepticism about the teenager's claims increased after his reappearance late last year, and local authorities froze bank accounts containing money collected from visitors.

Gautama Siddhartha, who later became known as Buddha or the Enlightened One, is believed to have been born in southern Nepal in around 500 BC.

Buddhists believe Siddhartha achieved enlightenment after meditating under a pipal tree.

  6. This news is about two decades old. The U.S. Government mirrored the Russian tests at Stanford University in the 70s. Millions and millions were spent on "remote viewing", a form of astral travel. When the pyschic subjects were able to tell the testers what book someone was reading in a nuclear submarine travelling under the Pacific Ocean, the disbelievers quickly converted.

The amount of "black arts" and pyschic warfare going on today would curl your hair if widely disseminated.

Srimad-Bhagavatam, an epic philosophical and literary classic, holds a prominent position in India's voluminous written wisdom. This ancient text touches upon all fields of human knowledge.

The timeless wisdom of India is expressed in the Vedas, ancient Sanskrit texts. Originally preserved through oral tradition, the Vedas were first put into writing by Srila Vyasadeva.

After compiling the Vedas, Srila Vyasadeva was inspired to present their profound essence in the form of Srimad-Bhagavatam. Known as "the ripened fruit of the tree of Vedic literature,"Srimad-Bhagavatam is the most complete and authoritative exposition of Vedic knowledge?covering everything from the nature of the self to the origin of the universe.

The first verse of Srimad-Bhagavatam makes clear that because the book is intended for people serious about spiritual progress, it will not deal with sectarian religious ideas, philosophical conjecture, or worldly concerns. The second text promises that anyone who reads the book systematically will achieve the spiritual success meant for all human beings.

It is said in Vishnudharmottar : The Lord says that one who wears the beads made out of the wood of Tulsi in one's neck, even if he is untidy and ill- charactered, will undoubtedly attain Me only.

In Garud Purana it is stated: All those people of evil argumentative mentality who say why to wear Tulsi beads, what results are attained by wearing them, and don't wear Tulsi beads around their neck, burn in the fire of anger of Sri Hari and will never get liberated from hell.

Sri Krishna will grant the fruit of being the resident of Dvarka immediately to those who wear Tulsi beads around the neck. The sins of the person who wears neck beads made of Tulsi with devotion after offering to Sri Vishnu will get vanquished and Devakinandan Sri Krishna will always remain pleased with him, he does not need to undergo further atonement, no more sins remain in his body.

In Kaliyuga, one, who is bedecked with the beads made of Tulsi, performs ritual activities and activities pertaining to ancestors and demigods, obtains crores times more results. The messengers of Yama will flee away by the sight of the Tulsi beads just as leaves are blown off by wind.

In Skanda-puran it is stated :- Those who wear neck beads made of Tulsi after offering it to Sri Hari are definitely foremost among the devotees of Lord. Those fools who wear Tulsi beads without offering to Hari will definitely go to hell. After presenting the mala, it should be purified with panca-gavya; after that the mula-mantra should be recited followed by the recitation of the gayatri mantra for eight times. Touching with incense, worship with this Sadyojata-mantra with utmost devotion:

Om sadyojatah prapadyami sadyojataya vai namo namah

Bhave tave nadi bhave bhajeswamam bhavod-bhavaya namah

After that, this prayer should be made, "Oh! Mala ! You are made of Tulsi and are dear to Vaisnavas . I wear you around my neck; you make me dear to Sri Krishna. 'Ma' means 'me', 'La' means 'to give'. Oh Hari-Vallabhe ! You have given me to Vaisnava devotees, hence you are known as mala. Those Vaisnavas who pray in accordance with rituals in this manner and first offer the mala in the neck of Sri Krishna and then puts it to themselves attain the Lotus feet of Sri Vishnu." It is stated in Padma Purana : either during morning ablutions or bathing or eating or at any state which is clean or unclean, Tulsi mala has to be worn always; that means mala should not be removed under any circumstance.

Shastras say: Tulsi mala should always be worn as yajna-sutra or sacred thread. Those who remove Tulsi mala even for a moment are considered to be Vishnu-drohi.

  12. I don't own a TV so I didn't catch this movie. But I found a very perceptive review and analysis of it:

Was Moses Jewish? Not On ABC

    <!--

    --> Written by Jack Engelhard

Saturday, April 15, 2006 In this ABC made-for-TV production of "The Ten Commandments" we have a new Moses, ethnically and religiously cleansed.

As played by Dougray Scott (Charlton Heston, not), Moses has been homogenized, pasteurized, sanitized, and dry-cleaned so as not to offend any race, religion, or creed. This Moses (as opposed to the Moses of the Bible and even the Moses of Cecil B. DeMille) is not Hebrew, and in fact he's not anything but multi-cultural.

Along both parts of this series (new and improved over DeMille!) that ran Monday and Tuesday, April 10 and 11, the word "Hebrew" never came up, neither attached to him or to his people, yes, the Hebrews. The best this fat-free, low-calorie script could do was refer to Moses as a "slave" and later, as the "leader" of a "people."

What people? That, we do not know, and that we must not know for then it will be assumed that our heritage is (dear Lord!) Judeo/Christian. To let that word get out (if you ask the film-makers and ABC) would be a sin. So if you tuned in late and missed the promo hoopla, you would not know that this is a biblical event, but rather just another episode of "Survivor" or "LOST" or "The Amazing Race."

Also, in this drama, Pharaoh comes off better than Moses, really. Pharaoh is a nicer guy, or just as nice, to keep the storyline on an Equal Opportunity level so that nobody or everybody gets offended, equally, in case ABC has plans to distribute this in today's Egypt. (The gods of Al-Jazeera and the ACLU must be appeased.)

The lapses in this (Hallmark?) telling are so enormous (spirituality? zero) that this ABC God of this ABC Moses is less all-powerful than Donald Trump.

Jews (by the number Six Million and still counting in Israel itself), of course, know what it means to be religiously cleansed, and so do Christians, who dare not pray or display any piety outside of church and home. Any sign of Christianity (even during holy days) in schoolyards and courtyards--well, strictly forbidden.

Who thought this day would come, when a biblical story is consigned to the heaping Sheol of political correctness? I did, and I'll bet you did.

Imagine, please, the story of Jesus with no mention of the Christian faith that followed? That must be next in ABC's made-for-television pipeline--Christianity cleansed of Christians. But there will be no riots. Imagine, however, the story Mohammed with no mention of Islam? ABC and all the rest of the MSM would not dare!

The people who make the movies for the big screen and small screen, they know that Jews and Christians can take a joke, and even an insult. Complaints, yes, over "The Da Vinci Code" and there were even some letters to the editor when the Brooklyn Museum of Art featured Jesus in association with "dung art."

We (Christians and Jews) don't much appreciate being hustled, so we sign petitions, or just shrug.

But the Religion of Peace? We all saw what happened when the (false) rumor circulated about a Koran being flushed down a toilet at Gitmo. Riots everywhere. We know what happened to Dutch film-maker Theo van Gogh when he stepped out to film some grim truth about Islam's treatment of women.

Hollywood (which raised nary a voice in protest) sure took note.

Hands off, then, for Islam. Don't mess with that crowd. The rest of us, by contrast, are open to cleansing and even ridicule. In that movie "Meet the Fockers" there's a dog in there, and the dog's name is Moses, and what happens to this dog? He is flushed down a toilet.

Imagine a flick with a dog named Mohammed--and then flushed down a toilet. That would never happen, and shouldn't.

But we took it from that (horrible) movie and we'll take again from this sorry ABC spectacle that refuses to let us know what "people" gave us the ten rules of behavior that regulate us and keep us civilized to this day. There is always DeMille's version that is also being run by ABC-TV, and that's not perfect, either (many liberties taken of biblical truth), but here at least when Heston says "let my people go," he means the Jewish people. (Known then as Hebrews.)

But that, remember, was filmed when Christianity and Judaism were not yet secularized and cleansed but still Gospel and kosher.
