  1. Namaskar all,

It is nice to see the forum is back. It has been a vade-mecum of spirituality and Hinduism at large, at least for me, as I was so novice about these a few years ago.

This forum has been a good platform to share views, discuss substantial things and meet people that had a lot of impact in my life. Still missing so much friends here...

I still miss a close friend of mine here, Jndas Ji and so many more learned people...I wish to read more topics from you.

    Do keep in touch.

    Kshama

  2. Dear Respected Members,

I am really sad about the fate of this forum. It just occurred to mean how much I am attached to this forum.

This forum made me aware there are many spiritually inclined people in the world. It also made know many things that I never really knew before. It also acted as a tool to meet many righteous and pious people from all walks of life.

I just hope where ever you are, god continues blessing you and help you all realize the purpose of this birth.

Last but not the least, I am sorry for any wrongdoings throughout my visit here.

    Sreyo bhuyat sakala jananam,

    Kshama

  3. Respected Members and JND Ji,

First of all I would like to thank JND Ji for providing this platform for spiritual discussions. I am blessed to be here and read about various paths and practices within Hinduism. I would also thank senior members, members and anyone that directly or indirectly made my understanding about religion clear. I shall never forget all these good memories. Thank you all once again. Namaste.

  4. Dear Respected Members,

I am really blessed to have been part of this spiritual platform. I take this time, and really thank all members that have made my perception of metaphysics and religion grow. Directly or indirectly people have been a guru to impart me lots of spiritual knowledge whilst I am here.

I also take this time to seek apology from anyone that felt hurt or offended by my remarks or by my posts. It was never my intention and I am so sorry if I did any wrong.

Last but not the least, whatever you do, always remember god, and do good whatever capacity you have. May god bless you and all. Namaste.

**Thank you Kaisersose Ji, for making this thread available.**

  5. Gokulkr Ji,

I have been reading your posts in a Audarya. I am sure you are a dedicated bhakta of Lord Narayana. Continue your dedication with unwavering mind. Do not let articles in newspaper distract you.

Agastya Muni is a revered Muni, so let us not judge him. We should take time to strive really really hard to emulate the bhakti that revered saints and sages like Agastya, Meerabhai, Markandeya had or better, try to have unwavering bhakti to Lord Rama such as Hanuman Ji had.

I know it is extremely hard, but I am sure if we are sincere in our dedication, the Lord will help us attain the supreme goal. Namaste.

  6.

    Respected all,

I would be obliged to anyone who can put light on this. I need to learn when actually will our world end according to different religions.

If the answer to my question is soon then are we already into salvation or will it be a once lurid outcome.

    What about the other universes??

I can't post all my questions here at a time but i have a lot to learn about this.

    With Best Regards,

    God Bless All!!

    Om Namah Shivaya!!

    Respected Love_alliance18 Ji,

I am no rishi nor an astrologer. I do not know exactly when will this world would end. But reading your post, I felt compelled to ask you this, are you ready for the dissolution of the universe? Are you near getting salvation?

It is better we focus on our effort to make ourselves better in terms of spirituality as well as being good human being whilst being here on this earth. When there is a beginning there is an end. So let us make our stay in this earth worthwhile. Let us focus in our karma...and dedicate the fruit to god.

    Namaste.

"Futile" is in the eye of the beholder. Certain individuals believe that anyone who disagrees with them is needlessly argumentative, while certain others have a tendency to argue and argue ad nauseum even when they have little substance to their argument. To me, two people disagreeing politely is quite illuminating since it gives me a chance to evaluate the relative strengths and weaknesses of their individual positions. When someone resorts to ad hominem attacks, fatwas, papal bull (or their modern-day, internet equivalents) to silence an opponent, it tells me rather quickly that his is a philosophical position that I should not bother making my own.

Your idea that discussing hierarchy/supremacy of different deities is not important says more about your own views than of the legitimacy of the question. After all, a person who genuinely wants to know what is the best path to liberation is not going to accept an answer steeped in moral relativism (i.e. "this path is ok, that path is ok, whatever you like is ok...").

There is no getting around the fact that throughout the Puranas we have questions pertaining to what is the highest good for man, and the answer often comes in the form of directing one to a specific deity. Are all of those Puranas to be swept off the table because of their politically incorrect position of elevating one deity over another? Or could it be, perhaps, that it is our attachment to political correctness that handicaps our search after truth? It is kind of pointless, don't you think, to want to seek after truth but then provide so many conditions first (i.e. don't tell me one path is better than another, don't tell me one deity is superior to another, etc). If we do not know truth, should we not acknowledge that point humbly and take help from sources of right knowledge, instead of filtering said sources through our own preconceived biases?

Hindus will never be philosophically united because Hinduism has never been philosphically united. Throughout Hindu history there have always been Vaishnavas, Shaivites, Shaktas, Vedantins, Non-Vedantins, etc. We do not need to dismiss our philosphical differences for the sake of political unity. Political unity and philosophical unity have nothing to do with each other.

    Respected Raghu Ji,

Namaskar. Thank you for your feedback. The contents of your post are noted. The unity among Hindus that I would like to see, though I am insignificant, is that of a state where everyone practices their convictions but do not criticize the beliefs of other Hindus from other sects or Sampradayas. I am happy if one feels their god is superior than others, but what makes me unhappy is to see, hear and read bitter, untasteful remarks by them, on the beliefs of other people, especially fellow Hindus. Fundamentalism, holier-than-thou attitude and many more unpleasant things that I see just makes me feel bad. For some, especially the underinformed, might have got the wrong impression about Hinduism at large, after seeing what's happening in this forum.

I do know this is a free forum, anyone is welcome to state what is in their minds, but, I do not know, how to describe, I just feel it is very distasteful to see how some act here.

I was not advocating my faith or the spiritual path that I am following when I plead to the members here to stop discussing supremacy of gods. My real intention was and still is to see discussion of other things that are more substantial to member's personal and spiritual growth.

I do think it is possible for Hindus to unite, though we are of different backgrounds, set of beliefs and practices. What we need is tolerance. I just cannot think of another trait that is vital than tolerance.

Raghuji and fellow members, I'd like to apologize if my posts in this thread gave you the wrong impression and offended any of you. Namaste.

Thanks all for replying but i know that something is wrong with me and i really am suffering from something which is hidden from my eyes. The ways suggested in wiki how is something which i have tried a lot of times and have failed fatally. I can't help myself in either of the ways and the maximum period when i didn't watch porn movies was some 28 days all together when i decided to change my habit but ultimately i found myself doing the same thing after a short while.

I'm sick of these thoughts now and they are really bothering me now and i really want to put an end to these before i get married or else i'll have to step aside from my marriage as i can't ruin my girlfriend's life as i don't have control over myself and may end up doing something wrong some day.

    I need help at urgent.

Plz help me someone it's already been 2 years since i'm fighting with myself and now i have developed inferior feelings for myself.

I hope someone understands the agony i feel.

    Thanks all in advance>>>>

    Dear Recluse,

Well that is why I said you have to go and see a psychologist. There are many therapy that can be prescribed according to your degree of problem. One of which is hypnotherapy. Please do not be shy when giving the details of your problem to the psychologist. Be 100% truthful. The more you tell the better the psychologist will understand. I suggest you go to a male psychologist, if it makes you feel more at ease. Remember your confidentiality is guaranteed when you seek the help of professionals.

Well, I am glad that you feel the need to change, and know the commitments that in a marriage.

Dhruv Ji had given a very good suggestion. You have to give it a try.

There are many things that are far more cruel and deemed enormously sinful than masturbation. Why do you have to feel bad about yourself when you know, that this addiction of yours is really curable? The fact that you realized masturbation is doing you more harm than good, itself is the first step that you had taken indirectly to cure yourself.

    Namaste.

  9. Dear Recluse,

Masturbation, is normal in men. I am not going to talk in the religious point of view.

Well the fact that you seem to know, that masturbation is doing harm to you, that realization is very good.

So what can you do? Mantra....it takes time. I suggest talk to a psychologist or go to any counselor that provides counselling. You would surely feel better about yourself and know how to overcome it.

In the meantime try to have a look at this site.

How to Stop a Masturbation Addiction - wikiHow

Yes, I am sure, things are hard at first. With your determination, you can overcome it. Namaste.

  10.

    Dear readers,

It has pained me that there has been no discussion or requirement by aspirants on the subject " MUHURT" - the most useful branch of Vedic/ indian / Hindu astrology.

    .. V K Shridhar

    V K Shridar Ji,

I understand and respect your feelings. It is just that people come to the forum for various reasons, and many of them come for pressing reasons.

I think the genuine seekers and apirants of vedic astrology or other members will come and participate in discussions when they realize the significance of muhurt. Namaste.

  11. Dear MikeMalaysia Ji,

I just stumbled upon this videoclip. It is from a very old Tamil devotional film. The actress is the great, the late Padmini Ji. She is one actress and Bharatanatyam expert that I admire most.

The video's subtitles in English doesn't do much justice in giving the correct understanding compared to the beautiful essence of the story in Tamil.

Well..Basically the moral of the story is , whether the Devi is called, Mariamman, Karumari, Kamatchi, Visalatchi and many others they are all a few, of the many representations of the supreme truth, OM, the Brahman. Namaste.

  12. MikeMalaysia Ji,

To an extent I have all the answers for your questions. But, I am a bit apprehensive to give my answers, because I am not qualified, insignificant and I am not the right person to guide you. In my opinion, I would really want you to get the right understanding and the right guide and suggestions that only can be given by someone who has the necessary experience e.g. senior members of this forum, the senior and religious people that you know, temple priests at your place and so on. I am sure they will put you on the right track.

I am sorry for the inconvenience. Namaste.

  13. MikeMalaysia Ji,

Apart from Tuesdays, Fridays are good too for fasting for Devi. Some non-vegetarians Tamils in Malaysia take only vegetarian food on Tuesday and Friday.

For the sunrise-sunset fasters...there are different things they follow in their diets. So many variations that I feel tough to write it here. It really depends on you, and on your determination.Well, it is up to you, you should fast or not. Depends on your intentions.

Well, in my opinion, there are many ways to show devotion. It all depends on your capacity, temperament and health. Do not be rigid, causing harm to yourself by observing rigid fast. I believe body is a temple, where god resides, why harm with overtly practicing anything, just in the name of being religious. Moderation is the key.

People think...spirituality is being religious...mechanically, robotically following rules and regulations. Actually spirituality is much more beyond that.

The fact that you are a vegetarian is already a great feat. I think offering sincere prayers Tuesdays and Fridays will be good enough, in fact every other day is good for prayers.

I hope experienced members would give some opinions regarding this matter. Namaste.

  14.

    Dear Soul300,

If predictions are 100% accurate, people need not do any work, need not pray.....everything comes to them. Astrology only guides you what is likely to happen in your future life and to some extent about those related to you. Predicting death is the last purpose of Astrology. Bad events that may happen are to be told without using harsh language and suggest remedies to reduce the malefic effects.

It all depends on the etiquette on the part of the astrologer (true/false).

Because of one bad experiance with one astrologer(male/female) the only guiding tool can't be set aside.

    with best wishes,

    USR

    Very well said.

  15. Respected Members,

If only people of all sampradayas and religions behave in a manner that is depicted in the song....the world indeed will be a better place. A person should have immense bhakti towards his chosen form of god, at the same time, let people from other faiths, traditions and sampradayas practice what they believe in.

Holier-than-thou attitude in some devotees, just adds blemish to the noble faith they are following. Live and let live. Namaste

  16. Ahara Vimaladvaita,

This is when the guide of a guru helps. Since you are very far away, I hope someone really knowledgeable could help you in this forum.

Do set a time to pray and ask god to help you to get trough this obstacle, I am sure there will be some improvement.

I leave it to the seniors to guide you further, namaste.

  17. Dear MikeMalaysia Ji,

There is vegetable glycerine, that is made from vegetable oils. I am sure there are non-animal byproduct soaps out there in your place, I mean in Indian cash and carries. I vaguely remember, there were ads about such soaps in Tamil radio stations in Malaysia almost every week some time back. I just do not know much about the shops in Leboh Ampang. Namaste

  18. Namaskaram,

As far as I know, married or not, it does't guarantee moksha, I mean marital status has nothing to do with getting or not getting moksha. To attain moksha one has to work hard for it. Perhaps any senior members like to add in something? Thank you.

  19. Dear Priknit,

This is not the right forum to ask about mantra or vrats. This is a forum where questions pertaining vedic astrology, questions about future, predictions in ones life, and many more about vedic astrology in general. I think the relevant forum for this is mantra tantra vijnana.

Well there is nothing to laugh about. But I have a question for you. If you two like each other, why do you need to acquire any mantra? Namaste.
