  1. Dear shvu,

Do you have faith in God? or are you an atheist?. Every body can not be mature enough to attain God with out any wishes. Lord Krishna in Gita also says we can attain Him through 3 ways. In the 18th chapter only He says we should sacrifice even the wish of attaining Him. So there is nothing wrong if people do prayer for some purpose. As they progress in the spiritual path all the material wishes fade away. That is how we can know we are progressing or not. If our desires do not fade away then we are not at all progressing in our pursuit of attaining God. In the 11th chapter Krishna shows His viswaroopa & asks Arjuna only in the 18th chapter to sacrifice even the wish of attainig salvation. Progress in spiritual path is always slow for people who live in materialistic world. Only slowly we can overcome the desires that too only by HIS grace.

  2. The greatness of Krishna is seen in whole of Dasamaskandam of Srimad Bhagavatam. That is why Dasama skandam is considered as heart of Bhagavatam. Navama skandam describes the greatness of Ramayana. Lord Narayana must have had tough time in the role of Rama. That is why He wanted to show from the beginning He is a God in His Krishna avatar. He did not keep any restrictions. He cares only for pure devotion. Through pure bhkthi we can easily attain Him. The sooner I & mine become He & His the sooner we attain Him.

  3. Dear animesh,

The story is given in Bhagavat Rahasyam. That is why I mentioned devas were swarth. One thing I won't agree with you. For her child's sake a mother should not give trouble to others. That much blind affection is also a sort of agjanam. I fully agree with you Kaikeyi should not be blamed for Rama's exile.

  4. Numbers 1to 9 represent navagrahas. 1 is sun 2 moon, 3 mars ,4mercury,5 jupiter ,6 venus, 7 sani, 8rahu & 9 kethu. Numeral 9 is very auspicious. The total of numbers obtained by multiplying 9 with any no. is nine. For example 9x1=9; 9x2=18(1+8=9)9x3=27(2+7=9)etc.That is the reason we are asked to do japa by minimum 27 times or 54 times or 108 or 1008 times etc(total of 2+7,or 5+4, 1+0+8 or 1+0+0+8 is 9).

  5. Should Kaikeyi be blamed for Rama's exile?

    In my opinion. No.

    1. Dasarata had curse before his marriage to kaikeyi that he will die because of the separation of his son. The curse was given by Sravanakumara's blind parents when Dasarata killed Sravana kumara mistaking for an animal.

    2. Lord Vishnu took avatara as Rama to kill Ravana, if He does not go to forest He can not kill Ravana. Because God won't punish anybody with out reason.

    3. Kousalya is Rama's mother, Sumitra as mother of Laksmana has to send him with Rama to kill Indrajit, they can not take the role of sending Rama for exile. So Kaikeyi has to take the role of sending Rama to forest.

    4. Every body in the Ayodya were happy when decision of Rama's coronation was taken exept the Devas who are always swarth, send kali ti spoil the programme.

So we should not blame Kaikeyi for Rama's exile.

  6. Dear all,

Let us think & develop our devotion by interpreting why Krishna closed His before killing Pootana?

Krishna closes His eyes to think , after My arrival to Gokul, gopikas are bringing curd & butter but this women is bringing poison. Kamsa mama is sending daily one doll for me to play. Though she is feeding Him with poison , she is constanly meditating on Him in enmity. So He decides to give Her salvation.

  7. Dear animesh,

The answer for your question is no. Lord Krishna showed His Visvaroopam (Big form of Lord Vishnu)to make realize all present there in the sabha that He is nobody but Narayana Himself Who came to this world to protect His devotees. The same form was showed to Kamsa & Karna also before their death. Through Arjuna he taught to the world that everything is present in Him & how can we attain HIM. To Arjuna He showed the form as described in Gita.

He also taught us we can choose one of His forms to meditate till we are able to meditate on Him as formless. It is difficult to concentrate on God with out a form. Let us choose the form we like & medidate on Him.The purpose of this life is to realize Him. Let us surrender to Him , fix our mind on Him & attain Him.

  8. Dear animesh,

I am really sorry if had hurt you. I also agree women are also responsible for many social evils. But those who ask dowry were uneducated. Now we feel ashamed to ask dowry etc as women are also equally educated & earn. The society can change if each individual realises his or her responsibilities. When great women like Jijibai & putalibai produced Shivaji & Gandiji why can't other women also try & produce good citizen? If each woman is educated, most of the social evils can be prevented. I really appreciate your analying mind & interest in spiritual path at this young age. Ofcourse younger age is more conducive for spiritual path. It will protect you from committing acts which are prohibited. Once again I feel sorry for hurting you.

    with best wishes

  9. Mam hi partha vyapasritya ye api syu: papa-yonaya:

Striyo Vaisya: tata Sudra: te api yanti param gatim

Meaning even those who are sinful by birth attain me if they take refuge in me

Similarly women, vaisyas, as also Sudras, taking refuge in Me verily attain the highest goal.

So Krishna did not say womenfolk as sinful birth. It was interpreted wrongly. Vedas are the authority. In no where in Vedas God differentiated men & women. It is only few males in the male dominated society brought all the wrong ideas from Vedas ,Upanishads etc. Coming to your point of view also women are placed first in the path of devotion to attain God before Vaisyas & Sudras. Brahmanas attain God through Jnana marga, kshtriyas attain Him through Karma yoga remaining sectors attain Him through Bhakthi yoga. Women in our society are assighned the most sacred work of bringing up their children. Why do you think today you find more ttenage criminals, drugaddicts etc, because of lack of mothers’ love. Only women have the tolerance that is why god had given women the duty of bearing a child. Because of few male chuvanists who could not tolerate the progress of women in the society started putting restrictions. First restriction is it is not necessary to educate women. Women who are the first teachers of their children were deprived of education. If you analyse, Maitreyi, Devahooti Sita, Panjali were all well educated. Only in this Kali yuga women were deprived of many freedom. Man made laws making women ignorant were prevalent. Thanks to Rajaram Mohan Rai & Gandhiji for awakening women by breaking some of the cruelest laws like sati etc. How sadist people were?

Regarding Gayatri also nowhere in Gayatri mantra it is told that it should not be recited by women. By the by when we do Upanayanam for our sons mother also hears Gayatri. Upanayanam is not recommended for ladies because of their bodies. That is all. As I mentioned already it is the lady of the house who takes full care of the family may not find time to do sandyavandanam etc regularly so it may also be one of the reasons women are not recommended for Gayatri japa. It lies in the interpretation & surely God never differentiate between male & female. It is again our ego which says I am man etc.

Again some one mentioned that dowry problem etc arise mainly because of women.

In this context I would like to ask our dear men when your mother asks you not to smoke or drink you do not listen but if she asks you out of ignorance to accept dowry you readily accept why? It is greed. You can as well do not listen to accept dowry like smoking or drinking. Always think what sacrifices your mother made for your progress & what sacrifices your wife making for your children, then you will understand how much women were suppressed in our society. Now It is changing because of awareness & education. Present generation is considerate & understanding. There is no end for this topic if we go on debating. Each one of us are assigned some duties let us do our duty & leave the rest to God.

But one thing I want to stress is women are not sinful by birth. We are fortunate to get this human body. Even Nammazhvar, Chatanya prabhu imagined them as lady to attain the Lord. As Meerabai said only God is Purusha & all the jives are women. Vedas say Purusheshu Vishnu. So the correct interpretion of the 32nd sloka of 9th chapter of Gita is given as above. The above meaning is given by , Ramakrishna Mutt & by Gita press Gorakpur, India. As animesh said, Manu Samhita or any other rule book may have been applicable in the past. But it is not necessary to apply them in present time. & can not be applied to present.

  10. O man, rise up from this lower level of life. Do not sink in the pit of darkness.Cast away the bonds, the fear of death that holds you down. Do not be frustated in this world. Shine like the flame of a blazing fire and glow like the radiant sun.

  11. Dear ggohil,

    Thaitria Upanishad says:

    Naarayanaparam brahma tatvam Naaraayana:para

meaning Narayana is Parabrahmam, Naarayana tatvam is the one which is to be known.

Eko ha vai Narayana aaseet nabrahmo nesana: neme tyava pritvi na nakshatrani

meaning before srishti only Narayana was there, no Brahma, no Siva , there was no sky, earth or stars.

Also Nammazvar in his Thiruvaimozhi says

    Enn perukku annalathu

    Onn porul eeru ela

    Van pugazh Naranan

    thin kazhal chere.

Azhvar says the word Narayana which contains eight letters called as Ashtakshara mantra is mahamantra, moola mantra. Its full import is not possible to be presented in brief, and casual manner. Each letter is potent & conveys enormous philosophical ideas. Azhvar also says Narayana has charming form & His feet are more dear to His devotees, in order to dwell upon & serve. words in this verse emphasize His being with qualities , form feet all suitable & vital for the Bhakthi path.

Narayana has two maenings in Sanskrit: Narah ayanam; Naranam ayanam. The former means that the Lord resides in all jivas as the inner soul; the latter means that all jivas reside in HIM, have Him as basis & support.

This verse thereby the whole of ThiruvaiMozhi is said to expand the significance of Narayana. Nallayira Divyaprabandam is also one of the vedic references for Narayana being the Supreme Godhead.

  12. As said in Rig Veda; let us perform our duty and leave the rest to God, iet us have deep faith in His justice. The world is torn by strifes, enmities and rivalries. In this dark whirlpool of turbulant stream of life, only all powerfull GOD may carry us across the ocean of troubles. Only He can captain our ship and bring it to the shore of divine fulfilment. The waves of stormy sea will become calm at His nod. Therefore let us dedicate all our thoughts and desires to GOD with full faith. Only He can bless us to conquer our troubles through HIS divine mercy.

The human body is the temple of GOD. One who kindles the light of awareness with in gets true light. By concentrating the mind the inner vision is illuminated. The joys of life are not for those who keep their mind unclean. The mysteries of life are revealed to one who keep his mind alert all the time. The sacred flame of our inner shrine is constantly bright and glowing.

May our inward thoughts conform to our outward actions. Carefully observe the ways of those that are virtuous and righteous. Follow the path laid down by our sages. This path will lead to happiness and heavenly bliss.

  16. The teachings of the Vedas are universal. Yajur Veda (26-2) clearly indicates all learned persons should preach the Vedic truth to all, the Brahmanas, Kshatrias, Vaisyas and Sudras. Even women are equally entitled to read the Vedas. God is impartial and can not be expected to be partial to one portion of mankind and antagonist to others by depriving them of their right to study the Vedas. In the eyes of GOD all are equally entitled to GOD'S gifts and nature like air, water, sunshine and HIS KNOWLEDGE. In the Vedic truth no one is great or small. ALL are equal.

Vedas existed even before Manu. Inspite of God's words through Vedas, Manu a typical male chuvanist wrote his sastras. May be it is also one of the reasons God Narayana took avatar as Krishna to show to the world that He is beyond everything. To stress on that He chose Radha & Gopis as His dearest devotees. It is true that woman is so determined she can concentrate on God & attain Him through devotion if she wants. If she does that the comforts of men who depend on her services are deprived. So some male chuvanist like Manu even today exist and talk about Manu sastras. Just because Manu wrote some foolish sastras it does not mean that women are not entaitled for certain things. I do not care a damn for it. I do not agree whether it is Manu or SP or any malechuvanist say woman is inferior or sinner or any nonsense. God is atttained only through pure devotion irrespective of caste, creed, religion & sex. No sensible person can disagree with that. May Lord Hari forgive the ignorance of all the male chuvanists.

  17. Narayana is the Supreme God. when light has both wave nature & particle nature Can't God Narayana have both form & formless; two hands & 4 hands? Narayana is the supreme God & is acknowledged or approved by Lord Krishna Himself when Bheeshma recites Vishnu Sahasranama to Udhishtira in front of Krishna in the battle field before he dies. When Bheeshma talks about 1000 names of Lord Vishnu(Sahasra nama) Krishna nods His head in approval. That is why people say Vishnu Sahasranama is great! Vishnu sahasranama can be found in MahaBharatam.

  18. Dear shvu,

It is none other than SP's translation of Gita's 32nd sloka from 9th chapter says sinners like ladies, vaisyas & Sudras. How dare he says such statement? If Krishna consider ladies as lower birth or sinner , why should He call Radha as His dearmost devotee & why should He said He is indebted to Gopikas? If He consider Sudra as lowest birth why should He take birth in Yadava kula which is consider to be Sudras? Krishna took birth in all varnas to show that He is beyond everything. He said Radha is His dearest devotee to show that there is no difference between men & women as for as devotion is concerned. Men or women, the soul is eternal. Like dress the body is changed that is all. He should not have meant that lady's birth is because of sin. So it concludes that either SP did not not understand the real meaning of sloka or he is number one male chuvanist. May God pardon him for hurting His lady devotees.

  19. Too much wealth makes man greedy and slave to sensuous pleasures. It makes him extrovert and darkens his inner vision. Desires unfulfilled give rise to grief and this fulfillment causes greed. Thus he feels miserably thirsty even standing in the deep sea of wealth. The raging waves of worldly riches surround and submerges his senses, but he fails to quench the thirst of his soul. He runs after countless mirages in search of peace but all in vain. At last he prays for God's love which will satisfy all his cravings. He cries Lord release me from these shackles of exhausting sensuous pleasures and gives me ever-lasting peace.

Awake, divine people awake! God helps only those who work hard with vigor and courage.

"O" men , abandon your varied activities, sins and diverse creeds, which all give birth to sorrow, and with genuine faith "says Tulsidas." be devoted to the feet of RAMA.

  23. Dear ggohil,

Krishna avatar is 9th avatar of Narayana. Narayana had already taken as Matsa, Koorma, Varaha, Narisimha, Vamana, Parusurama & Rama avatars before Krishna. Do you agree or not? As animesh said Krishna remembers His birth & we donot as Krishna is Lord Narayana who has taken birth to kill Kamsa& Sisupala & to protect His devotees. I will soon post quotes from Bhagavatam for you for reference.Nobody is saying that Krishna is not God. All of us are His devotees. All we say is do not preach only what SP said , read all the books written by all the scholors. Let the western people get the correct knowledge of hinduism. Then only it will remain for ever , otherwise it will perish once you stop preaching like other religions. No body has any hatred for ISKCON.As long as we understand the essence of Gita that is enough. Let us all shed our ego of what I say is correct or what my guru is only correct , let us drink the essence of Gita ,relish it & please God by following Gita. If we do not do that , it means that we have not understood Gita.

  24. Tulsidas says:

jo sampaty siv ravanahi dhinhi diye das math

soyi sampata Vbhishanahi sakuchi dhinhi Ragunath.

Meaning What riches Ravana attained from Lord Siva after sacrificing his ten heads, the same riches is immediately got by Vibhishana just after his surrender to Raama.

Surrender is the best means to attain the God. Vibhishana is the typical example of such surrender.
