A lagna lord is never malefic or in opposition to the lagna, unless he owns a dusthana and joins a dusthana. For Cancer ascendant - Moon is lagna lord - so his prime motive is to protect sustain the lagna You.

Now since he is waxing - he can be considered malefic in how he performs his functions.

Now if he is exalted (in the 11th house) it is good - especially with the 2nd lord Sun.

For example if Mars is lagna lord - he will not be malefic to the lagna - unless he ends up in a dusthana ( since he is also owning a dusthana ).

Well when I said exaltation of Mars for Kanya is inauspicious - It is because Mars is more because he is dusthana lord and in this case he's a malefic.

Exaltation of dusthana lords is highly undesirable and vice versa debilitation is good. When we talk debilitation as good in this case - we expect no cancellation of debility as the best, cancellation will cause him to "rise its hood" in some other form.

Exaltation of Mars for Kanya lagna is very unfavourable for the children. Affliction to Venus(9th lord) and/or Jupiter(Karaka) could add to this and can cause delays and even denial of children.

Exaltation of malefic planets may be good as lagna lords (Sun in 9, Mars in 10th, Sat as 9/10) - but as dusthana lords they will bring in malefic results.

Reviewing Wife's chart.

With 5 planets in quadrants to the lagna - I would like to switch to Lagna Sphuta Vimshottari.

Using this Wife is running Sat/Sat until Mar 12 2010. After that is Sat/Merc.

Sat is a yogakaraka for Libra lagna with Merc(9th lord and 12th lord) and with inimical Sun also a badhaka.

Since Sat being the 5th lord has not yielded any positive results - we have to pin our hopes on Merc as the 9th lord.

Merc is highly afflicted with Sat, Sun and also Mars and Rahu aspecting by graha drishti. In such cases it advisable to strengthen Mercury by reciting Vishnu Sahasranamam stotra.

Sat/Merc begins Mar 15,2010.

Sat/Merc/Venus pratyantar beginning in Oct 2, 2010 should bring in positive news. Venus is a strong benefic having an aspect on the 5th house.

From the saptamsa - Moon as the 5L in Sagittarius with Venus - a male child can be predicted.

I usually use Vishnu Nabhi Ayanamsa by default in the JHora software. But in borderline cases I use Lahiri Ayanamsa. By both these ayanamsas - I find the birth to be under Makha 4.

Yes if we switch and use other ayanamsas - there will be definitely be some deviations especially when the case is so close to the border.

Lahiri is well accepted as a standard ayanamsa - others are well known as well. So follow the one that you consider accurate.

Well looking at your charts - here's a few I would to add.

Since you have Moon in the 8th house in Rasi - I am switching to using Utpanna Vimshottari (seed starting from the 5th star).

You are currently under the influence of Sat/Sat.

So from Mar 1992 - Mar 2008 you were under the influence of Jupiter, who is debilitated in the 5th and also retrograde - receives a strong cancellation of debility from Sat in a quadrant. Indicates a strong Jup who would like to fight back and come out ahead and winning.

Now this cancellation is from Saturn, so in this period if you were disciplined, persistent and hardworking - basically the Saturnine strengths - the benefits are increased.

Sat is well placed with Ketu in the 10th - indicates lots of hardwork and persistence and Ketu - detachment in your work. So if you followed these qualities - Saturn and Ketu would reward you - otherwise you would be looking at missed opportunities, loss of jobs, breaks in career, etc.,

Now this same Jup is placed in 2nd from AL in dasamsa - would indicate a person who has good status, image at work. Person who is manages (cares for) his status well. Add to this you have 3 malefics in the 11H from AL - Sat, Mars and Ketu - This is very good.

But these 3 malefics are in 2nd from the Lagna itself. Bad for the energy/sustenance - So basically its a see-saw effect. You have to do the balancing act.

Coming to your progeny query - Jup debilitated in the 5th from the lagna and also in the 9th from the Upapada lagna is not very beneficial for progeny. Subperiods of Jup have not produced any progeny.

Well normally we would let destiny do this for us - but with C Section even if we as parents don't want to intervene - doctors need a date and time for the procedure. So we'll do this for now. Again this is only a recommendation - please do get second opinions and make your own final decisions.

I would recommend Date/Time of Fri Feb 20, 2009 between 8:50 to 10:18am in the Aries Lagna. For better fine tuning use 10:00am as the time for a better Navamsa Lagna.

Ekadashi Tithi (Mars), Lagna (Mars) , Yoga (Siddhi Mars) Vaara - Friday (Venus), Nakshatra - Poorvashada (Venus), Karana - Balava Moon.

Good combination of malefics in the 10th and 11th house - upachayas.

Moon in 9th and AK Atmakaraka Sat in 5th.

There are few dates before and after Feb 20 that should preferably be avoided. Also the 8:00am (Pisces Lagna) times should also be avoided. Again when I use the word should (it is more a firmer version of can). Avoid Moola, Jyeshta, Moon debilitation, Moon getting stuck with 3 other malefics and then Moon getting into amavasya.

There are some malefic aspects of Sat and Rahu by Rasi drishti on your Upapada lagna indicating the delay for marriage.

Time for wedding bells havent come up yet - You should be able to get married during the Mars/Jup sub period from Jun 09, 2010 to May 15,2011.

It is advisable that you fast on Saturdays and pray to Mother Durga for marriage to happen sooner and for it last a lifetime.

Mercury as the 7L in the 12H both in Rasi and Navamsa can indicate spouse from a foreign land or getting married to a person living in faraway lands.

Even the marriage happens, there are strong forces to break it. I would recommend continuing the prayers/worship of Mother Durga to sustain the marriage.

Looking at your chart Engineering as a study line is a good choice.

Rahu/Ketu along the 4/10 axis with Moon and Jup (exalted) involved is good as well. 4th lord Sat though in 12from its house is aspected by Mars.

5th lord Rahu is now in Sama saptaka with Jup as the lord of 3 and 6 - and aspecting lagna lord in 2nd house.

Navamsa has Ketu and Sun in trines from Navamsa lagna and Mars from Karakamsa.

Your strengths should be around technical subjects involving engineering, using mathematics and also logic. If you think you have a strong ego use that to your advantage by expanding to leadership roles in your career.

Time as 6.00 am is too approximate and will not give a confidence in more granular charts like D24,D10 etc., Some of these lagnas are bordering on 10 secs borders.

Having 5 planets in any house is a rare combination. Sixth house in this case.

Venus as the 4 & 11 will be most affected by this - being with Sun, Ketu, malefic Mercury and aspected by Sat.

This is also Venus's Marana Karaka Sthana. Both Venus's karakatwa and his lorded house significations will suffer.

For sure, his relationships will take a hit since Mars is also in his Marana Karaka Sthana in 7th and here Venus is afflicted. I would guess there is more in this native's life thats "damaged" by this.

To some extent since Moon is secondarily blemished and exalted Saturn is in 4th house. Damage can be to Mother's health, education, general peace and comfort at home.

Buying B V Raman books on the internet or in regular stores (in India) is not a problem at all. His books are the mostly widely available and most importantly very affordable.

I have read many other authors in the last 10-12 years but B V Raman's beginner books make the basics very simple to grasp. The sequence will also be useful in stepping up the ladder.

After a year or two, you can graduate to an author of your personal preference. Some style of writing that makes more sense.

For basics it is always B V Raman.

I looked at both your charts.

Wife is currently running Moon/Venus until 2009-Oct followed by Moon/Sun until 2010 Apr. Sun is in 5th placed from Moon in his own house.

Husband is running Jup/Venus until 2009-Oct and then followed by Jup/Sun until 2010 Aug. Similarly Sun is placed in the 5th (alongwith Merc) from Jup in exchange with Jup.

From the wife's chart - Marriage occurred in the Sun/Rahu period, but the progeny was not conferred until Moon/Moon.

From the husband's chart - Marriage occurred in Rahu/Sun period, but the progeny was not conferred until the Jup/Jup.

I find these common factors in these two charts fascinating.

Since Sun is a common factor in both charts - it is recommended that you recite/listen Aditya Hridayam at home on a regular basis to strengthen this aspect. Birth of a girl child is predicted between Oct 2009 - Aug 2010.

According to Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra (BPHS) a birth in Amavasya tithi calls for a shanti. There is a vidhi prescribed in BPHS for this. Also for Mool nakshatra birth there is a separate shanti for getting over.

Yes According to BPHS for Mool nakshatra birth the parents are supposed to give up the child or the father not look at the face of the child for 8 yrs.

Now since the baby has the combination of both evils together it is highly advisable to perform the shanti at the earliest.

I did look at the baby's chart. Without going into much details - In brief 5th house and 5th lord is not well disposed. The chart does show some weaknesses.

I would highly advise the shanti done, to get one thing out of the way.

You have the Mars along with Jup, Moon and Rahu in the 12th house.

By definition this is Mars (Kuja) dosha but his association with Jup would cancel the dosha.

Now finding alliances for people with Kuja dosha Cancelled - there are two schools. One believe in matching them with Kuja dosha cancelled partners and other with normal partners.

In real world you'll find both prevalent.

UL is Upapada Lagna - it is the Arudha of the 12th house. If you are familiar with Arudha Lagna this should fall in place.

Arudha Lagna is the Arudha of the 1st house (tangible manifestation) of the 1st house. UL is for the 12th house.

For Ex. Say for Cancer Lagna - Mercury (12th lord) is in Aquarius. Basically Mercury is 9 houses removed from the 12th house - So counting 9 from Aquarius - we get Libra. So UL will be in Libra.

Again Arudha of a house cannot be in 1st and 7th from that house - in such cases we add another 10 houses and place the Arudha there.

Say for example in the above case - Cancer lagna, Merc is in 3rd house (Virgo) it is 4 houses removed from 12th. Counting 4 from Virgo - we reach Sagittarius - Now the UL would be in 1st or 7th from its original. In these cases we add another 10 houses ( 270 degrees ) to this and so the UL now ends up back in Virgo.

Now why UL and what's the connection with marriage?

In any relationship/contract Each party gives up something or compromises or separates from something they considered their's. There is some sacrifice involved. May be some freedom, some income is spent on family, more time for the family, More responsibilities etc.,

Also 12th house indicates pleasures of the bed, sleep. If we did Bhavat Bhavam - Counting houses from other houses - We can get a lot more.

For example this is 4th (house) from 9th (Dharma) - Start a home for pursuing dharma etc.,

UL is also considered a focal point of wedding and marital life. 2nd from UL indicates how well the marriage is sustained (or not sustained when afflicted). Find out who (which persons) are supporting the marriage, who is opposed, what causes it to break etc.,

Again this is primarily used only in Rasi and Navamsa. For subsequent marriages we take the eighth from the first UL as the UL for the second (or subsequent) marriages. In the above case if Libra is UL for first marriage, Taurus will be the UL for second and so on.

In cases of where a native is experiencing delays or denials in relationships - the native is advised to fast on UL lord weekday and pray to the 2nd lord from UL. In the above case Native would be fasting on Fridays (Libra ruled by Venus -> Friday) and pray to a deity indicative of 2nd lord from UL - Mars (Narasimha or Karthikeya or Hanuman)

Rahu and Ketu are imaginary points. According to mythology - Rahu is head (of the Asura) and Ketu is the headless body.

To have drishti - we need eyes - So only Rahu has capability of drishti. Ketu does not have drishti. Rahu has a graha drishti (planetary aspect) on 2nd, 5th and 9th from its place.

With regard to marital life, here is my analysis.

Rasi

Strong benefics Merc and Venus in the lagna unafflicted indicated a strong personality.

UL in Cancer and 2nd from UL (in 3H) has Jupiter along with Sat,Mars, Rahu.

Jup in Marana Karaka Sthana owning 7 and 10 in 3rd house afflicted by multiple malefics is not good.

In Navamsa - 7th lord Venus is in 2nd house along with Sat and Merc 8th lord exchanging position with maraka lord Jupiter in 8th house.

Basically the 7th lord, house and 8th lord, house are under 2nd house maraka influence. Prospects of survival of first marriage are very weak.
