  1. Based on what I have learnt on this subject.

Gemstones on the right hand strengthen the significations of the planet associated with that Gemstone. Left hand is to weaken it, lower reduce it influence.

Most Gemstones are usually prescribed to enhance/ strengthen a particular aspect of a native's life that is a bit weak say Marriage, Relationship, Health or Progeny etc., So these gemstones would naturally go to the Right Hand.

If a native has a Gemstone for reducing the illeffects of some malefic planet (functional in nature) - say for reducing problems of enemies, rivals - you would wear these gemstones on the left hand.

The finger in which to wear depends on the aspect of the life this gemstone affects - like

Moksha - Spirituality - Index Finger

    Artha - Middle Finger.

    Dharma - Ring Finger

    Kama - Little Finger

So wedding rings are worn on the Ring Finger, but unfortunately some people wear on the left hand - when it should be in the right hand to strengthen the marriage.

  2. Dear phoeni,

Esteemed members on this forum will look at your chart and provide their analysis.

But to answer the first question - I dont think there is anything in our Vedic tradition that prohibits marriage between an Unmarried man and divorced woman.

There was a brief period in our country where there was corruption of our Sastras and its interpretation and widow remarriage was shunned and divorcees were kept out of mainstream society. This probably is still continuing in remote villages or ultra-orthodox communities. Our mindsets towards this is definitely changing - atleast in principle if not in practice.

For all practical purposes in the current generation - there is nothing disallowing this marriage. Based on results of horoscope matching there may be a judgement call that you may have to make.

    With Best Wishes.

  3. Dear Ravi,

Vimshottari is a proportional dasa - Each planet has a specific proportion in this - and may differ from other planets. This proportioning applies to Mahadasa and also to antardasa etc.,

Now say Venus has a proportion of 20. This is 20 Mahadasa years out of total 120. Now for Venus / Venus antardasa it is the same proportion.

    ( 20 / 120 ) * 20 = 3.33 years 3 yrs 4 months.

For Sun the proportion is 6.

    Continuing the same example

    Venus / Sun is ( 20 / 120 ) * 6 = 1 yr.

We keep going on in this way into all levels.

There is a small trick in calculating the Antardasas that I'll share here.

Multiple the Mahadasa years by Antardasa years and divide by 10.

The quotient is time in months and the remainder multiplied by 3 is the number of days of the Mahadasa / Antardasa period.

    For Say Venus / Ketu period = 20 * 7 = 140; Divide by 10 we get

    quotient as 14 (months) and 0 x 3 = 0 days

    For say Ketu / Ketu = 7 * 7 = 49; Divide by 10 we get quotient 4

    ( 4 months) and 9 x 3 = 27 days.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Dear Vipvats,

Let me see if I can answer some of your queries.

    Hi All

I have a confusion in my chart and will be thankful to everyone who can throw some light on this

In my chart I have the following

    1. Sun and Saturn are Conjunct in same house --- Is this always bad ?

Based onobservations this is not bad always. Here Sat and Sun in the 12th house. Sun as lagna lord in the 12th and Sun placed in Marana karaka sthana - makes Sun quite ill placed in the chart. Add Saturn as 6L and 7L and natural enemy - Sun is uncomfortable. Now for significations indicates native will be in foreign places/faraway lands - along with his spouse and be uncomfortable in that place. May not prosper.Moon as the 12L placed in 4th debilitated is also indicative of foreign residence

    2. Sun and Saturn are Conjunct in 12th House --- Will both planets play major role in settling me abroad or keep me away from my Fathers house ?

    3. Sun and Saturn are Lords of 1st and 7th house respectively i.e. Lords of Trikona and a Kendra --- Does this form a RAJYOGA and If Yes then even after a weak Saturn will this Yoga yield good fruits ?

Saturn and Sun can give Rajayoga but this will come with major extremities - something akin to having power but unable to exercise it, having money but unable to enjoy your wealth. etc., quite weak with the dispositor also debilitated.

Mars as the yogakaraka and also 9L well placed in the lagna indicates a very supportive and well natured father, but with LL in 12th - you may be away from him and with Sun and Mars in 2/12 relationship in Rasi at a very high level indicates just separation or removed - D12 shows a good supportive father Moon and Jup in mutual quadrants.

  5. Saturn is a planet of Sorrow and Grief.

Wherever he is placed - that area of life you will see Sorrow or Grief or disappointments basically tears.

Saturn in the 7th house acquires high shadbala - makes him quite strong - so this will accentuate the sorrow and grief he would provide. In general Saturn in the 7th would cause stress and problems in relationships - relating to the world.

Lord Sri Rama had an exalted Saturn in the 4th (Libra) - indicating Though he was born a Prince - he would face sorrow and grief in areas of Home, Peace of Mind, basic comforts.

Saturn in the 10th indicates sorrow, grief, pain, disappointments in the Career front.

Saturn well situated in friends' house would still give the same Saturnine indications but would not undermine the underlying bhava significations. Say Saturn in the 4th in Taurus may not be good for having peace of mind, comforts etc., but you would still have a house. (if Venus is well placed and not afflicted and weakened etc)

Hope I havent gone too far off the main subject of this thread.

  6. Atmakaraka Rahu indicates usually indicates a person who is highly spiritual or is a highly criminal. Such persons are capable of defrauding or cheating somebody and also be cheated / defrauded by others.

Most great saints have Rahu atmakaraka

    Here Rahu and Venus are quite removed from each other - so there is a very minor influence of Rahu on Venus;

  7. Dear RRRIMU,

Reviewing your husband chart specifically for year Jun 2009 to Jun 2010 using Tithi Pravesha chart is a mixed bag.

In the Rasi chart Saturn as the lagna lord is placed in an inimical sign in the 8th, but Venus and Mars are involved in a strong Rajayoga in the 4th.

Specifically in the Dasamsa (for profession/career) - things look bleak.

Dhanur lagna with Mercury as 7L and 10L is placed in the 8H.

    Using TP 2009

Jupiter ® in the 3rd house from lagna indicates soft on initiative. Ketu in 6 can give strong fighting power when challenged.

A5 is in Gemini, with Mercury having a strong argala countered by Ketu.

Ketu's effect will be given by Rahu.

Sun has an argala but countered by Saturn.

Moon has unobstructed argala - this period should bring some relief.

    Tithi Ashtottari Dasa

Mars dasa between June 21, 2009 to Jul 19, 2009

Mars owns the 5 and 12 and in the 12 with Rahu indicates big losses in career front.

Merc as 7L and 10L and owning A5 in 8th indicates positive developments during this period.

This job may continue to run until end of the year 2009 when it hits rough weather.

Then during Venus period Feb 09, 2010 there will positive news and developments. Sun and Moon dasa will also be favourable until Jul 2010.

Switching to Natal Rasi chart Leo lagna - with Venus, Moon and Rahu in the 12th House and currently running the Venus dasa until 2009 Dec 10.

Venus is quite afflicted by Rahu and aspected by Sat - also 10th House has Merc and Mars; strong natural malefics but hold good key agenda regarding material gains (Merc is 2L, 11L and Mars is yogakaraka).

Sun dasa starting next year 2010 will bring in good positive developments all around for him

With Best Wishes for a peaceful and prosperous life.

  8. The best way to explain Rahu / Ketu is to use eclipses.

Lunar Eclipses always happen on a full moon (Poornima) day and solar eclipses always happen on a new moon (Amavasya) day.

In Jyotisha Full Moon day is when the Sun and Moon are exactly 180degree apart and New Moon is when Sun and Moon are zero degrees apart or together.

Considering Lunar eclipses on full moon days - Rahu and Ketu who are already 180 degrees apart align themselves along with Sun and Moon.

Rahu covers up Sun and Ketu covers up Moon. ( I believe they can vice versa as well)

So basically Rahu and Ketu 180 degrees apart are the points of the straight line that join the Sun, Rahu, "Earth", Ketu and Moon when all of them are in the same horizontal plane.

Again not all Full moon days cause lunar eclipse - so there is involvement of a horizontal plane - they have to be in the same plane. The subject of eclipses to be explained thru Jyotisha is quite complex - but if you reflect on this you should get a good idea.

Rahu and Ketu are considered as planets and have their independent significance as well.

  9. Dear Her1987,

Reviewing your chart for your query.

Gemini Ascendant with exalted Venus in the 10th is aspected by Sat and Mars. Saturn is retrograde. This indicates Venus is highly afflicted and in a cursed state.

The dispositor of Venus is Jupiter; Jupiter is well placed in a trine but also afflicted by aspect of Sun and Rahu; Karaka of the 10th house is Mercury and he is placed in a friends house but in a dusthana.

Your relationship breaking is due to the above afflictions and curses. The remedy for this is to worship Vishnu and Saraswati on a daily basis. Being supportive and helpful to other newly married couples and gaining their goodwill and blessings can also help in alleviating this curse to some extent.

    With Best Wishes.

  10. Adding to the others have been saying about Manglik Dosha etc.,

I see the same Gotra as a bigger problem.

If this was an proposal for arranged marriage - Having the alliance in the same Gotra - People would have walked out by now. Traditional marriages are disallowed within the same Gotra.

So with the Manglik dosha and with strong feelings of love and attachment and the problem of same Gotra - You would have to use your Free Will and dig deep inside and come up with a solution.

  11. Dear mappyin,

Using the chart data provided - here's my analysis on Mars and Saturn in the 4th house.

With Gemini Ascendant - Mars owns 6 and 11th house - so he is a natural malefic and now add to this a functional malefic. Mars and Mercury are enemies at best neutral.

Now Saturn owns 8 and 9 - so he has the potential to give fortune as well as cause sudden problems, reversals ups and down etc., Basically Saturn will be responsible for giving something and also taking it back.

Having Mars and Saturn in the 4th house - in simple terms spells loss of peace of mind, major physical discomfort in general. I have noticed that people with 6th lord in 4th usually get displaced a lot - move from one place/house/city to another.

6L in 4H also indicates health problems in the chest/heart/lung areas - especially with Saturn there - may be breathing problems as well.

Again I do not visibility into the placement of lagna lord for judging its strength and also Sun (for physical vitality and general well being) - aspects etc.,

Curious to know - how do you know that you are Gemini Ascendant and Mars and Saturn in Virgo - but not know your time of birth (even the approximate) - Just using the Rasi chart - if you know your date of birth - there is a two hour window that will indicate Gemini Ascendant.

So this analysis is in general - to give you some answers to your query.

  12. Dear sgtalks80 & goldie123

For Makara lagna - Venus is a yogakaraka. He is signifiying the best things in life for the native. He signifies opportunity for putting effort and also provides a good backing of blessings and fortune.

Now based on the limited information on the original post - we cannot come to any conclusion as to how Venus is placed - Is he afflicted; planets aspecting, conjoining, exchanging signs. Not to mention we do not have visibility into the current dasa.

Please do post atleast the full chart (if not the birth data) - before asking a query.

It is not advisable to try to understand signification in a chart just by placement of one planet.

  13. Dear Ritesh,

Where is the expected Place of Birth?

Apr 18 is showing approx of Sravanam Nakshatra - very auspicious (Maha Vishnu's nakshatra) - but the proximity to Rahu is very close - too close for comfort.

Not sure if this is still an option - See if you can move this by later by a day or so. Dhanishta or Satabhisha may be also be fine.

  14. Dear Sairam,

I'll give you some pointers to help you understand the exaltation and debilitation in Rasi and Navamsa.

Planets that do get debilitated in the Rasi can get cancellation of debility - but virtue of other planets (like Rasi dispositor of the debilitation sign, Rasi dispositor of exaltation sign, planet that gets exalted in this sign being in a quadrant from lagna) - In addition to this list - when this debilitated planet gets exalted in Navamsa - it considered a major cancellation - The native is considered to receive a divine blessing or boon for all his hardwork.

Similarly a Vargottama planet gets highly strengthened giving the native strong grit and determination.

Also a planet exalted in Rasi but in debilitated in Navamsa is considered highly inauspicious - hardwork put in would go waste and not much benefit would be derived out of it.

Now coming to your son's chart - without going into specifics - Mercury does not get cancellation of debility in Rasi - but his hardwork will be blessed by virtue of the exaltation in Navamsa. Venus is quite strong and Mars (yogakaraka) exaltation is lost in Navamsa - father (You) may be well placed, career oriented, successful - but his health will suffer by placement in 6th.

    Hope this helps.

  15. Lagna lord Venus owns the first and the eighth house - In cases where the lagna lord is well placed and not in dusthana houses, he supports the lagna. But when placed in dusthana houses - he takes on the role more like a dusthana (8th lord).

The combination has the Venus(1L,8L) with a yogakaraka and (Saturn), Rahu and Moon. Rahu and Saturn will afflict Venus and also Moon.

Sat and Rahu in the 6th house is considered auspicious for fighting spirit, to deal with enemies and problems - especially in a benefic sign. 6H Benefic signs indicates soft and easy enemies who are overcome very easily - but there are problems nevertheless.

Now with 6L Jupiter in 11th house (Badhakasthana) could cause some obstacles in life - may be health wise. May be problems in the knees and lower leg related problems - more so in the Jup dasa.

Mars in 7H is Kuja dosha - but since he is in his own house - there is cancellation of Kuja dosha. But with Venus and Moon afflicted in 6H and Mars in 7th house - relationships will general, but marital life will suffer.

Mars in the 7H in a quadrant is good - Ruchaka yoga - gives a strong willed person, able to take on project and work aggressively, be a leader.

    Hope this helps

  16. Replying to godisgreat_81 query

Exaltation of a benefic dusthana lord like a Venus (lord of 6 and 11) for Sagittarius lagna will not be auspicious. The native may have access to good houses, property, luxuries - but either the native will lack peace of mind or will have ill health due to the exaltation of dusthana lord.

May have heart/chest related problems - since it is 6L in 4H.

Also the problems will continue to grow during the lifetime. It is upachaya position from both the angles. From the 6th Venus will be exalted in 11th, and from the 11th house it is placed in 6th.

    Hope this makes sense

  17. Dear Ramakiran3,

Using the information you have provided. Jan 8, 1982 - 2:10p with lat and long as provided.

Your Atmakaraka is SATURN and not Rahu.

Rahu is in 29 Deg 11 mins - but since his motion is considered in reverse he is actually the least traversed one - he's DAra Karaka.

Yes you have quite a few planets in advanced stages -

Saturn as Atmakaraka is indicative of people desirous of discipline, hardwork and in your case highly motivated to achieve position of Power.

  18. Dear pai77

The child has Gemini(Mithuna) lagna, with lagna lord Mercury debilitated in Pisces with Venus and Sun. Mercury though seemingly debilitated is well cancelled.

Mercury is in a quadrant and so is capable of providing cancellation himself. Also Venus is exalted and in a quadrant. Dispositor of Mercury, Jupiter is in a quadrant. Above all Mercury is exalted in Navamsa - which in itself is considered divine blessing showered upon the native.

    Mercury's debilitation is fully cancelled.

Combination of 4th and 5th lords is a Rajayoga.

Jup and Mars in Sama saptaka will confer Guru Mangala yoga - providing a good combination for level headed thinking and wisdom and good actions with restraint.

Sat and Ketu in the 3rd house is actually good for the 3rd house related matters. He may end up being the youngest one in the family - but good for initiative and boldness.

Health wise - with Mars in the lagna also being a functional malefic owning 6 and 11 - will indicate a weak constitution. There will be minor health issues. Mars in the lagna should result in excessive heat related problems, hot and dry conditions should be avoided - keep the body cooler and moister.

Education should also be fine - with Rasi itself showing good prospects for the 4th house matters. Siddhamsa D24 is also very promising Jup as the 4L in 9H (upachaya from the 4th) - indicates long and continued education.

In general, worship of Ganesha - will be highly beneficial for general wellness and prosperity of the child.

  19. A lagna lord is never malefic or in opposition to the lagna, unless he owns a dusthana and joins a dusthana. For Cancer ascendant - Moon is lagna lord - so his prime motive is to protect sustain the lagna You.

Now since he is waning - he can be considered malefic in how he performs his functions.

Now if he is exalted (in the 11th house) it is good - especially with the 2nd lord Sun.

For example if Mars is lagna lord - he will not be malefic to the lagna - unless he ends up in a dusthana ( since he is also owning a dusthana ).

He is by nature quite aggressive, active and forceful, enterprising etc.,
