Namaste, I have a what you call a Bogus conch. What i know is that GOD created The Earth (and any thing on it) so wether a conch is from India or an other part of the world it is GODS creation. You can make a sound by blowing on the conch. (Only when the conch is prepared for blowing on it- a piece is cut of) This sound creates purifying vibrations/sound. I can only speak for my expirience: I have what you call a bogus conch,i do shankhpuja daily for it.....as result the conch is growing........this did take several years before i did notice the conch is growing. God is pleased if you do Puja with good intention and a clean hart... I'm talking about puja. I did ask several Pts. (pandits) what this does mean. They say GOD is Showing me that HE is accepting my devotion and love.... As result the conch is growing. I can not decide for other people...but this is my expirience......
