There are at least 3 problems with the above excuse for not finding Radha in any legitimate source,

    1. Is this excuse documented in a legitimate source? "Prabhupada said so" or "Sai Baba said so" does not cut it. And if it is not documented in a legitimate source, then I assume you will have no problems agreeing this excuse has no value.

    2. The Mahabharata had nothing to do with Suka Goswami's recital. Why not mention her name there?

    3. Vyasa was composing Puranas for the entire world - not just for the sake of his son. Makes a weak argument to say he left out a key character like Radha from the story of Krishna just because his son was the fainting type.

Anyway point #1 above is sufficient to throw out this excuse. The fact remains Radha is not mentioned in 4 legitimate sources for the story of Krishna. In my opinion, it would be simpler and honest to admit it and move on, instead of tap dancing to avoid this simple fact and dreaming up ridiculous excuses.

    Cheers

Garga Samhita and Brahma Vaivarta Purana both talk about Radha in detail.

When Ravana came to kidnap mother Sita and she saw him, she took shelter of Agni. The fire-god covered the body of mother Sita, and in this way she was protected from the hands of Ravana.

The fire-god, Agni, took away the real Sita and brought her to the place of Parvati, goddess Durga. An illusory form of mother Sita was then delivered to Ravana, and in this way Ravana was cheated when he kidnapped the false Sita.

The original Sita went to the abode of the fire-god. When Lord Ramacandra tested the body of Sita, it was the false, illusory Sita that entered the fire. At that time Agni brought the original Sita from his abode and delivered her to Lord Ramacandra.

I really hope that's truly the case. :(

Seymour Hersh reports that the Bush government granted 400 mio Dollar for an armee of CIA agents to enter Iran and start to eliminate members of Iran`s special troops. So it should be clear that the war against Iran, a the six times bigger nation than Iraq, has started.

Great. Just great. That's exactly what our country needs, to enter yet another war. God bless America.

At the same time the atheist movement targeted at the global school books is also promoted with millions.

Nothing has changed, science is in total darkness how to create life, all their claims how life is a combination of chemicals are not proven and nothing but wild speculations. Somehow they became expert to cover up their failure, as Prabhupada points out, "this kind of vague speculation cannot be called scientific work - they don`t even deserve the title scientist", by spending millions of taxpayer money to create tricky facades to mislead the innocent.

Eh, I actually like it that they don't teach blatant Creationism in public schools (I don't even know what a science class teaching the theory would have in it's curriculum since there's so much religious diversity). If parents want their children to learn about God, they'll either teach them themselves or they'll put them in a private religious school.

  4. I'm sorry you've encountered such hardship from this person, bhadramoorthi Ji. Devi is very powerful. I'm sure She loves you very much, and that's all that really matters in the end. Just because this guy doesn't believe in Devi Bhagavata Purana doesn't make it any less true. Just stop talking to the jerk... maybe in his next life he'll encounter the love and the power of Ma. ;)

    Jai Mata Ji!

There are actually a lot more rules than that. More than I am willing and able to follow in a practical workaday regimen. You really can't wash the plates that you eat out of in the kitchen where prasadam was cooked...and there are more. No thanks. I'm just not a devotee I guess.

What a silly protocol :P Why would God care where you washed your dishes?:D Why don't you just offer your food and forget about the rest?

    Another reason I stopped chanting.

Because of an idiotic protocol that Lord Krishna never asked for in the first place? Seems like a strange reason...

All Buddhists believe in anatta in the literal sense, or they wouldn't be buddhists.

You clearly haven't studied Mahayana Buddhism in depth, or you would know that they do believe in a self, just not a seperate self. It's often explained as 'the wave is nondifferent from the water'. They think that, just as there are many waves but they're all really of the same substance and really only form one unit in the end, there appear to be many creatures, but each is really interconnected with everything else.

  7.

Buddhists feel peace isn't possible in a state of fear, and therefore view dependence on other entities (like Krishna) as active causes of fear. This is why they shun dependence, even the dependence on the so-called self (they believe in no-self, anatta).

Actually, not all Buddhists believe in anatta in the literal sense. Most Mahayana Buddhists think that there just isn't a 'seperate Self', and that we're all united in one Self. Mahayana Buddhists also don't shun dependence. They depend heavily on the mercy of the Bodhisattvas and often pray for their mercy.

    God Casts Stones

"And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword." (Joshua 10:11)

    Comment

Another typical slaughter described in the Bible. Here we have God, personally throwing great stones on the people for the sole purpose of killing them.

"The Christian religion has been and still is the principle enemy of moral progress in the world."

    --Bertrand Russell

Where does it describe in our sastra that Vishnu throws stones?

Jesus said that stoning people was wrong and rebuked people for doing so:

Jesus returned to the Mount of Olives, but early the next morning he was back again at the Temple. A crowd soon gathered, and he sat down and taught them. As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd.

“Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?”

They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, <WOJ>“All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!”</WOJ> 8 Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust.

When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, <WOJ>“Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?”</WOJ>

“No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, <WOJ>“Neither do I. Go and sin no more.”</WOJ>

    --John 8.1-11

    ---------

Once again, Jesus isn't Yahweh. His god wasn't Yahweh. And he didn't follow the law of Yahweh. Maybe you should actually read the words of Jesus instead of just making baseless assumptions about his concept of God.

    God 'The Jealous'

"For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters so a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods. Thou shalt make thee no molten gods." (Exodus 34:14-16)

    Comment

Verse 14 (among other verses of the Bible) makes it abundantly clear that this God not only feels jealous but the Bible names him Jealous.

Why an all powerful God should feel jealous of his creations simply because they believed in other gods remains unclear. Could it mean that other gods exist as well as the Hebrew god or that the other gods do a better job?

Somehow I don't believe Visnhu is a jealous God...

This is a book from the Old Testament/Torah. You aren't quoting Jesus. Jesus taught that God is loving and merciful:

When Jesus saw the many people, he went up on a hill. He sat down and his disciples came to him.

He began to teach the people.

He said, `God makes happy those who know that they need him. The kingdom of heaven is for them.

`God makes happy those who are sad. They will have comfort.

`God makes happy those who quietly trust him and do not try to get their own way. The world will belong to them.

`God makes happy those who are hungry and thirsty for what is right and good. They will be filled.

`God makes happy those who are kind. He will be kind to them.

`God makes happy those who have clean hearts. They will see God.

`God makes happy those who make peace between people. They will be called God's sons.

`God makes happy those who have trouble for doing what is right. The kingdom of heaven is for them.

`God makes you happy when people say wrong things about you, when they trouble you, and when they say all kinds of lies about you. God makes you happy when it is for my sake.

Be happy and glad because God will be good to you in heaven. In the same way people troubled the prophets before your time.'

`You are like salt in the world. If salt has lost its taste, how can it be made salty again? Salt that has no taste is good for nothing. The only thing to do is to throw it out on the road.

`You are like light in the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden.

So also with a lamp. People do not light a lamp and put it under a basket. But they put it on the place for a lamp. Then all the people in the house can see its light.

So, let your light shine to all people. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father in heaven.'

    --Matthew 5.1-16

------Jesus' message was so much different from the Old Testament's, and the god he portrayed was so different from Yahweh, that many early Christians completely rejected the Old Testament and thought that Jesus was trying to fix the wrongs that had been done in the name of God in Israel.

    Jesus's God rejoices your death

"And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it." (Deuteronomy 28:63)

    Comment

If the religious mind believes that God represents a loving God, then one must wonder about God, as described in the Bible, who would rejoice to destroy some of his creations.

Should we hold honor to an insane God? The Bible assures us that God possess an evil spirit with hate, and full of wrath, and here he rejoices in destruction! God appears completely devoid of any wit or humor; a mental state that psychologists have observed in many schizophrenics.

Vishnu would not rejoice your death.....

I wish devotees would stop trying be christian Vaisnavas.....

You are so ridiculous. Jesus (the prophet of the New Testament) isn't Yahweh (the god of the Torah/Old Testament). You are quoting Yahweh, not Jesus. Jesus said that life was important and was worth more that just the daily necessities:

So, I tell you this. Do not be troubled about what you will eat or drink to keep alive. Do not be troubled about what you will wear on your body. Life itself is worth more than food, and the body is worth more than clothes.

    --Matthew 6.25

  12.

Do you believe the events that occured in the Gita and the Ramayan actually took place? To clarify further, do you believed Hanuman walked the earth and there really was a battle of Kurukshetra? If so, have archaeologists discovered remains of the battle?

I do believe that the events in the Ramayana and the Bhagavad Gita took place in real time. I believe in Hanuman and I believe there was a battle at Kurukshetra. I haven't heard of any remains being found, but it doesn't play a large part in my belief in the events anyway, since to believe in nearly any deity, you have to go more off of faith than actual evidence.
