Again there are those who, although not conversant in spiritual knowledge, begin to worship the Supreme Person upon hearing about Him from others. Because of their tendency to hear from authorities, they also transcend the path of birth and death.

This verse is particularly applicable to modern society because in modern society there is practically no education in spiritual matters. Some of the people may appear to be atheistic or agnostic or philosophical, but actually there is no knowledge of philosophy. As for the common man, if he is a good soul, then there is a chance for advancement by hearing. This hearing process is very important. Lord Caitanya, who preached Krsna consciousness in the modern world, gave great stress to hearing because if the common man simply hears from authoritative sources, he can progress, especially, according to Lord Caitanya, if he hears the transcendental vibration Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare/Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It is stated, therefore, that all men should take advantage of hearing from realized souls and gradually become able to understand everything. The worship of the Supreme Lord will then undoubtedly take place. Lord Caitanya has said that in this age no one needs to change his position, but one should give up the endeavor to understand the Absolute Truth by speculative reasoning. One should learn to become the servant of those who are in knowledge of the Supreme Lord. If one is fortunate enough to take shelter of a pure devotee, hear from him about self-realization and follow in his footsteps, he will be gradually elevated to the position of a pure devotee. In this verse particularly the process of hearing is strongly recommended, and this is very appropriate. Although the common man is often not as capable as so-called philosophers, faithful hearing from an authoritative person will help one transcend this material existence and go back to Godhead, back to home.

    Hare Krishna

I'd like to tell everybody the good news that I have accepted my Guru Maharaja who is called Bhakti Vaibhava Puri Maharaja, I don't want to go into all the details, as yet, but wait for my new spiritual name, I will find out in a few days, I am very very happy to have this oppurtunity, I know that there are only about 5 devotees of Sri Maharaja in the Uk, but that does not bother me, I have been in contact with a lot of diciples of Sri Maharaja, on the internet and recently phone, I hope to have further contact, can't think what else to say yet, but here is nice q and a by Maharaja:

SOME IMPORTANT PRECEPTS OF MY SPIRITUAL MASTER

SRILA BHAKTI VAIBHAVA PURI GOSWAMI MAHARAJ

    THROUGH QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q:- What is the difference between muttering and chanting the Lord's name ?

A:- Utterance of an incantation with a murmering voice without the movement of the lips is called mutter. But when one chants with the movement of his lips is called kirtan. Kirtan is more beneficial than muttering. Utterance of the Lord's name, quality and pastimes with a loud voice is called chanting.

Q:- What is the first hand information about Krishna and what is the significance of Krishna's name ?

A:- The first hand information about Krishna is His holy name. The name of Krishna has the attractive power and it is the most powerful reality in itself. One should chant Krishna's name for attaining Krishna Himself .

Q:- It has been told that five types of accomplishments are there to attain success in devotional path. Are they not self-sufficient ?

A:- Leaving chanting of Lord's name, no accomplishment is complete in its nature That means leaving chanting, dwelling in Mathura, association with saints are imperfect. Chanting of the Lord's name gives us the fruit of dwelling in Mathura, association with saints, worship of deities and reading Bhagavata.

Q:- It is known that the chanting of the Lord's name is the means as well as the and. How far is it true ?

A:- Lord's grace is the only way to attain accomplishment. Any other kind of deed or knowledge is not counted as the chief accomplishment. The name of the Lord and His person are nondifferent. So the attainment of one's objective is itself the attainment of the Lord as the Lord Himself is in the form of His name.

Q:- What are the favourable situations for chanting the name of the Lord ?

A:- At first we shall be freed from enviousness to the Vaishnavas because it causes misfortune in this material world as well as in the transcendental world. This material world is the testing place. We find here only sorrow. Tolerance, feeling insignificant and praising others are helpful for chanting the Lord's name.

Q:- What is the result of chanting offensive name ?

A:- By chanting offensive name we shall be dragged towards hell. This stands against utterance of transcendental name.

Q:- While chanting the Lord's name mundane thoughts come to our mind. So this chanting becomes valueless. Then how can we be freed from its clutches ?

A:- It is not wise to leave chanting of the Lord's name, thinking that the material thoughts come to our mind while chanting the transcendental name. Gradually by accepting the transcendental name these unnecessary thoughts vanish and the transcendental name will arise as a Sun with its self-eflulgence.

i know your question is about ekasdasi. about the India part, I have an altar in my house, [in spare room], and recently I cleaned it from top to bottam, I got the feeling..like a smell or something that I was in India, not that I had any incense going on, wierd..

Ps. There are many different sites which talk about Ekadasi, I asked this once to a devotee he said if anything breaking at 6am is fine, probably because its after sunrise, though here in Uk sunrise differs but in India it almost ALWAYS BEFORE 6AM, there is a calender which tells you time to break {heh} I don't like to follow it, its too much for me, breaking at 10am! haribol!

    Sutra 2

    PURPORT (Excerpt)

In His impersonal feature (Brahman) the Supreme Lord is everywhere, inside and outside: as the Supersoul (Paramatma) He is inside everything, from the gigantic universal form down to the atoms and electrons; and as the Supreme Personality of Godhead (Bhagavan) He sustains everything with His energies. (We have already described this feature of the Lord in the purport to the previous verse, in connection with the name Jagan-nivasa.) Therefore in each of His three features-Brahman, Paramatma, and Bhagavan-the Lord is present everywhere in the material world. Yet He remains aloof, busy with His transcendental pastimes in His supreme abode.

    ---

The way I think of protons/electrons is that the eyes and ears of the atom, I think, I also put this somewhere else its by a devotee called Gopivaishnava, I don't understand it as, you might though:

    ___

    ___

The smallest number of atoms a human being can see is three. Only God can see one atom or two atoms, when he sees one atom made into two god recognises duality.

We can see under an electron microscope that a single electron within the nucleus of an atom is both particle and wave particle being material and wave being moveable energy.

God is in every atom, atoms have electrons that are both material and wave. God is purusa, not prakriti. Prakriti being the part of the atom that's material particle, He Purusa, the other part of the electron that consists of the energy that causes the wave. Electrons are both particle and wave; wave being Purusa, particle being the material part of the electron and Prakriti.

The difference between Purusa and Prakriti is the same difference we see of electrons with in the nucleus of an atom. One part of the electron is Prakriti the other part Purusa.

Seen like these even atoms have dual personality. God is in every atom because atoms are both Purusa and Prakriti.

    {I don't understand this part}

Say that within the nucleus of only one atom there is one electron one proton and cytoplasm surrounding the two. Lets call the cytoplasm the wind god Vayu, the electron fire god Agni, and the proton Indra. From the outside of one small atom made up of these three things the center some we call Purusa or Vishnu causes the proton Indra to create thunder so loud and shaking it causes the electron Agni to move quick through the cytoplasm of the wind god Vayu out of the original one atom making it two.

That's the divine nature of the atoms. There is a north and south pole in each atom. The atom with a north magnetic pole reaches towards Purusa, and the atom with a south seeking magnetic pole goes towards Prakriti or material nature.

What's left of our first atom is an atom with a north seeking magnetic pole, cytoplasm of the wind god Vayu and the proton that's Lord Indra.

Of our newly formed second atom is an atom with a south seeking magnetic pole that attaches itself to material nature or Prakriti.

    Bhakti Vaibhava Puri Maharaja:

Only if you will be repeating of Divine Name you could become happy. All throughout the life you will be happy. You will be happy. If we hear one, we are chanting so many times namam, Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna. They will be purified. They will never born again. They will enjoy the internal nectar. And we will be happy

    BR Srila Sridhara Maharaja:

One who finds more inclination to serve Gauranga and his dhama, his transcendental land, and his servants can get the mercy of Nityananda Prabhu. Nityananda is very much kind to one who has some special tendency towards Gaura lila.

One swamiji told me Pitrins were messing with my mind, making my thought go here and there, he said I need to offer oblations, he said because I have a weak mind, they came to me, but also the side effect is it has ruined most of my life, but thats also my karma, so after I offer them this, all should be well.
