  1. I got a glimpse in the mid`80s what Buddhism

philosophy is all about after I saw the mo-

vie, The Last Emperor of China. Puyi who was

China`s last Emperor saw his rule disinte-

grate when Mao`s communist party took over his administration when Mao`s Red Army de-

feated the Emperor`s warriors. The communists

couldn`t have possibly succeeded in over-

throwing the Emperor from his throne if

not for the support of the disillusioned

    masses, fed-up by Puyi`s mismanagement

of his kingdom. If you recall, all the Em-

perors of China are supposed to live inside

China`s forbidden city and conduct their

affairs in ruling the masses without having

to leave the forbidden city`s walls- a rule

Lord Buddha had implemented on Himself by

just being where you are. Because one need

not travel outside his home or community if

he wishes to make his dreams come true. It

means if you want something accomplished all

one has to do is use his mind to do the work

for him, not his material body whose loca-

tion is nailed to his home, family, communi-

    ty and country.

The problem of Emperor Puyi was he broke the

cardinal rule by going out of the forbidden

city to places strictly restricted for him

to be and embraced a culture(western) Lord

Buddha has disallowed to Emperor`s of China

like Puyi. When China became a communist

nation, the Emperor realized that what has

taken place was actually his own fault by

revealing to the western world the secret

and mystery of the forbidden city. When he

left the city, Lord Buddha also left like

the genie inside Alladin`s lamp never to go

back again to that empty shell.

    Buddhism, anyone?

  3. It`s alright, my dear Prabhu, to tell me

these things. In fact, I`m very much elated

if we could talk more about Krishna and

His pastimes. About the issue on books and

    their translations, I like Prabhupada

Swami`s program better than anybody else,

although many have claimed that the programs

of other guru`s are much better than Swa-

mi`s. But I love Prabhupad Swami. Because

without his books I wouldn`t be here now

posting you this message and wouldn`t have

known that you exist in my world. We have

met before and today, we have met again, not

as enemies, but as friends. I owe Prabhu-

pad Swami`s this chance of meeting you.

All glories to Lord Chaitanya`s sankirtana

movement organized by the Lord Himself as

    Krishna conciousness.

  4. There are many, many mystic yogis who are

searching for the Supreme Actor within

their hearts but were unable to comprehend

the different roles this great Artist has

performed, nor could they understand the

meaning of His actions. To them, He`s almost

impossible to understand and therefore imi-

tate. To do so, we must acccept the direc-

torship of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu when

He kindly appears of stage to instruct us

    by following in His direction.

If by Lord Krishna Chaitanya`s grace, a mys-

tic yogi understands the Supreme Actor`s

unlimited actions within his heart, then

he`s spontaneously given the chance to become

the Supreme Actor`s supporting actor in

the great drama of life even if the mystic

yogi still has his material actor`s dress

on since Lord Chaitanya, the great Director

will give him a specific role by which he

can play to satisfy the audience- a script

laden with Krishna conscious lines designed

primarily to please the Supreme Guest pre-

sent among the audience, Sri Krishna Him-

self. This way, the mystic yogi turn-suppor-

ting actor to the Supreme Actor, Govinda,

gives up his material script, returning to

the stage , back to acting in Krishna

    consciousness.

    yer`s of Surrender)

  6. All glories to Lord Chaitanya`s Sravanam

Sankirtanam Krishna! I heard the name

Krishnamurti from a booklet I borrowed

from Arthur, a friend. He wrote that the

Absolute Truth is not This or not That,

so on so forth. If you have seen the

Absolute truth, then He is not. That was

how I understood Krishnamurti`s point of

view. It was like going `round and `round

in circles for Krishnamurti to be unders-

tood. However, I offer my respectful

obeisances unto him and I respect his

teachings. I hope I could chant together

with his representative the Hare Krishna

    maha-mantra.

  8. My dear Prabhu,

    I`m not a dermatologist but a family

doctor, although my father, Mario Sr., is

a dermatologist as well as a pathologist,

who is teaching these subjects from the me-

dical school where I graduated on 1983,

    Gullas College of Medicine.

All I could say about your illness, Psoria-

sis, is that it`s a chronic disease, which

of the immune variety. Meaning, that it`s

a type of generalized or localized skin

allergy that affects the scalp, the skin in

the neck, the lower extremities esp. the

elbows, the anterior surfaces of knee, legs,

and feet. It`s manifestations are provoked

by eating foods that have allergins in it,

or when you are subjected to stress, mental-

ly or physically. Since medical scientists

can`t pin-point the real cause of this skin

disease called Psoriasis- your skin where

the disease lies is thickened because of the

    itchiness and erythema(redness) brought

about by the immunologic changes taking

place in the diseased skin. Some doctors

also refer this problem as skin asthma (You

develop symptoms of bronchial asthma if

you are exposed to allergins, such as dust

or pollens, by inhaling them.)Same goes with

Psoriasis, but only through some allergenic

food taken orally, or allergenic substances

sticking to a hypersensitive skin giving

rise to a disease called contact dermatitis.

Psoriasis therefore is very hard to cure if

there`s any. A psoriatic skin however can be

relieved by using preparations in ointment

    or cream that contains corticosteroids.

Some resort to using ultraviolet rays

known as PUVA to alleviate it.Or others may

resort to taking a drug called metothrexate,

a drug used in treating certain types of

    cancer, etc.

I believe, however, that Psoriasis maybe

genetic in its causation or could be caused

by an un-resolved conflict known as stress.

    Krishna consciousness cures this condition,

although material science has not proven it

    yet.

I could tell you another disease which is

very hard to cure, KANSR. But that is not

our story, so I just have to tell it in

another venue if a case such as this comes

    along.

    Good luck and Hare Krishna.

  9. The Paramatma

    ----------------

    After discussing Krishna consciousness for

some time, Ramananda Raya fell at the lotus

feet of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and

said," My dear Lord, You are so kind to me

that You have taught me about the science

of Krishna and Radharani and Their loving

affairs of the rasa-dance and Their

pastimes. I have never thought that I`d be

able to speak regarding this topic. Hence,

You have taught me as You formerly taught

    the Vedas to Brahma."

Those statements from Ramananda Raya are

referred to as the system of receiving

instructions from the Supreme Soul( The

Paramatma). Externally, He is not to be

seen but internally, He speaks to His

devotee from within his heart. The Lord

    reciprocates His devotee`s loving service

by giving him instructions and acting in

such a way that His devotee ultimately

attains the surpeme goal( Krishna cons-

    ciousness).

When Lord Brahma was born, there was no one

to instruct him of the science of God. But

by His causeless mercy, The Supreme Soul

Himself Sri Krishna, instructed Lord Brahma

the Vedas through his heart. And so with

Sukadeva Goswami, when he prayed to the

Supreme Yogesvara within his heart to help

him speak Srimad Bhagavatam before Mahara-

    ja Pariksit.

In other words, when a conditioned soul

    immediately becomes electrified with Krishna

    consciousness, the Supreme Soul Visnu

trains him from without the science of God

through the spiritual master and from with-

in his heart through the Supreme Soul Hari.

The Absolute Truth therefore can be realized

in three ways: 1) Bhagavan realization 2)

    Paramatma realization, and 3) Brahman(Self)

realization. These are confirmed in Srimad

Bhagavatam(2.9.33) when it said: That the

    Absolute Truth(Sri Krishna) exists before

this cosmic manifestation, that He exists

during the continuance, and that He conti-

nues to exist after the annihilation. He

is therefore the soul of everything great,

    the all-pervading and all-witnessing ( Pa-

ramatma), as well as the supreme form of

    everything.

Note: Yes, my dear Janardana Prabhu, your

friend, Melvin, is a fool. And I`m truly

sorry for being a fool for Krishna. Are you

    now satisfied?

  10. Those who are lucky to understand Chaitanya

as well as the Vrndavana pastimes of Radha

and Krishna can be able, by the mercy of

Krishna`s pure-devotee, to know about the

    real identity of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

Ramananda Raya, at first, was bewildered

when he saw Lord Chaitanya as a sanyasi,

then as a cowherd boy, then as a golden doll -His complexion like gold, the He

became dark, like Sri Govinda, the Cowherd

Boy of Goloka Vrndavan. Ramananda therefore wanted Lord Chaitanya to explain to him

why he`s seeing Him that way.

" It is the nature of highly elevated devo-

tees to see Krishna in everything, " said

Lord Chaitanya and , " ...whenever they see

anything, they do not see the form of that

    particular thing. They see Krishna."

Since Ramananda Raya had the highest con-

ceptions of the pastimes between Krishna

and Radharani, he therefore saw Them every-

    where.

Ramananda had understood that Lord Chaitanya

had accepted the complexion and mode of

thinking of Srimati Radharani. He knew that

Lord Chaitanya had incarnated mainly to

understand His own self and at the same time

distribute love of Krishna to the world.

    Being satisfied, Lord Chaitanya therefore

showed Ramananda Raya His form as the combi-

nation of Sri Radha and Krishna, having

    possessed the transcendental ability to

become two and then become one again. By

seeing this unique form of Lord Chaitanya,

Ramananda Raya was pacified, having informed

him that he was the only one to have seen

    this rare, transcendental form.

The fact is that Krishna and Lord Chaitanya

are simultaneously One although Both are

different in form. In His form as Krishna,

He is the supreme enjoyer while in His form

as Lord Chaitanya, He is the supreme Visaya

    or Object of enjoyment.

In other words, no one can be more attractive

than Sri Krishna and no one but Sri Krishna

Himself can enjoy the supreme form of

    devotion, Srimati Radharani. These facts

which Lord Chaitanya disclosed to Ramananda

Raya can not be understood by people who

are deluded by maya, making it the butt of

jokes if revealed to them. So it is better

to keep these facts within himself rather

than being ridiculed at Lord Chaitanya`s

    expense.

    In Chaitanya-caritamrta, the discussions

    between Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Ramananda

Raya deal with the most concentrated form of

devotional service, which can not be com-

pared to any other form . Hence, if a devo-

tee is fortunate enough to have faith

in those discussions, he can enter into the

    transcendental association of Radharani and

    Krishna, the Divine Couple.

    Srimati Radharani is conclusively Krishna`s

    supreme Object of Enjoyment(Visaya). Their

conjugal pastimes being the highest form

of eternal bliss to a pure-devotee like

Ramananda Raya who discussed this to no other

    than Lord Krishna Chaitanya Himself.

  12. Hilot

    --------

The word, " Hilot, " is a Visayan dialect

which means to massage aching muscles,

joints , tendon, or nerve. Lately, it is

known as accupressure or reflexology. In

fact, it`s a talent businesses could uti-

lize since the majority always suffer in

one way or the other assorted pains, coming

from the head or foot( Pardon me, my dear

friend Janardana, I hope I`m not a headache

to you ). Yes, I have done hilot myself,

to my wife and children with respiratory

    problems, rhuematism or myo-arthralgias,

which I find effective. But you have to use

    a medium or lotion( menthol/euchalyptus)for

hilot to succeed. You can not use your

hand to massage a body part by using water.

The purpose here is to prevent the trapped

air coming out from the skin pores after

the massage to return again. The coolness

of the menthol/euchalyptus lotion closes the

skin pores thereby preventing one from

    acquiring the so-called, "panuhot" which

are actually a group of air(vayu) trapped

inside a muscle or cavity( intestinal), the

    latter we call, " flatulence."

I will be discussing to you, in my next

posting, why hilot relieves cough and its

    patho-physiology explained in the Visayan

    way.

  13. Parikrama

The word parikrama may have an equivalent

in the Roman Catholic religion where its

    practitioner visit the churches called

" Visita de Iglesia, " during Lent to pray

to the Lord Jesus Christ and to confess

his sins to a priest. All these rites are

re-enacted every year to atone one`s self

of the things he did that displeased God.

    Similarly, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami had

heard( taken verbatim from the book Prabhu-

pada written by Satsvarupa dasa Goswami )

of the program from his disciple Lokanatha

Goswami, who took a small group of men on

a bullock cart and preaching in villages

throughout India. He told Swami that in

the course of their travels, they were able

to visit tirthas, like Badarakisrama and

Bhim Kapur. Although dying, Swami was enli-

ven to hear this and came up with the desire

that he himself go ride a cart pulled by

bullocks circumambulate the area of Vrnda-

van. However, Swami`s two close disciples,

Tamala Krishna and Bhavananda felt that he

may not survive the trip because they felt

his body was as fragile as glass that it

could break once it`s tossed and jolted from

the bad roads Swami will have taken. But

Swami Prabhupada reasoned that," Dying on

parikrama is glorious, " and he asked them

to take him. A controversy developed among

the devotees, as some said Prabhupada`s will

to go parikrama should be immediately

honored as an order from the spiritual mas-

ter. The doctor(whoever he is did a great

    disservice to Swami himself), however,

    assured them;Tamal Krishna, and Bhavananda

that Swami would not survive the jostling

of the cart. Lokanatha Goswami, however,

followed Swami`s request even if his disci-

ples held different opinions, by suggesting,

with Hamsadhuta that the parikrama could

go to the city of Vrndavan or visit the seven main temples of the Goswamis and since

the next day it was Govardhana Puja, Prabhu-

pada could go to Govardhana Hill. But the

    three disciples, Tamal Krishna, Bhavananda,

    and Bhakticaru, protested adamantly against

    parikrama. " One-day experiment, " Prabhu-

pada said. " It is for one day. Rest assured

I won`t die in one day." He liked the idea

of going to Govardhana. " And " We will make

our cooking there," he said. Lokanatha Swa-

mi, he assured them, was experienced." Make

very good picnic, " he said.

After discussing back and forth, the devo-

tees finally decided that early the next

morning they would take Srila Prabhupad in

the bullock cart to Govardhana. The majority

of the devotees then left Swami alone for the night. Parikrama the next day did not mat-

rialize. And why? This incident irreversibly

broke his heart and he was never the same

    again. Hare Krishna!

  14. In my 42 years of existence on this planet-

island, not having the opportunity to travel

abroad, physically, so to speak, I learned

from the book, The Teachings of Lord

Chaitanya, the word Visaya means the " Object

    of Enjoyment."

Being a Visayan myself( born in Cebu City,

    Cebu( Central Visayas Region), Philippines

on Nov. 3, 1957), I have witnessed since my

grandparents were alive that whenever their

children got ill( no modern doctors around),

they would as soon as possible concoct a

medicinal formula taken from the medicinal

(indigenous) plants found in their garden

by boiling it in water and have the solution

taken by mouth to their child suffering from

    stomach pains, anorexia, vomiting, fever,

or cough. These various local remedies were

derived from the herbolaryos practicing the

    art of Visayan medicine.

Visayan medicine has been with us since

Magellan and his Spanish crew discovered

our island we used to call, Sugbu- the seat

of Christianity in Asia, where its beloved

Patron Saint(Icon) Sr. Santo Nino is found.

( This Holy Child fits the description of

Govinda- please visit my web site: www.mateo

bizland.com to those who wish to see the It)

Visayan medicine however has become the butt

of jokes ever since modern(western) medicine

has landed on its soil, when Spain, for 400

yrs.), America for 50 years, and Japan, for

3 yrs, had introduced to the island the

westernized versions in the art of practicing

    medicine.

I will therefore post to you from time to

time the Visayan remedies which our ancestors

had practiced, whose origins may have came

from the early natives themselves who

believed in diwatas, dwarves, giants, etc.

Cebu or Sugbu actually was once a part of

the Sri Vijaya Majapahit Empire, a kingdom

ruled by Muslim Datus or Rajahs.

Visayan remedies today are still considered

by the local folks as the last course of

    treatment when everything else, including

western(modern) medicine fails, such as in

the treament of cancer, AIDS, etc.

Although I`m schooled in the art of modern

medicine, I still consider some Visayan

remedies as helpful after having experienced

it myself to a number of my patients.

I don`t know if Visayan remedies are of Ayur

Vedic in origin, but you will later find it

out as I give to you their natures.

In practice, I therefore combine my acquired

skill in the art of modern(western) medicine

with some of these Visayan remedies. Just

like practicing the art of mystic yoga with

    Krishna consciousness.

  15. The biography of Swami Prabhupad after reading it had left me a lot of questions

waiting to be answered. Like what happened to his wife and children? Where are they

now? What happened to Swami`s magazine,

Back to Godhead, and why its subscriptions

are no longer in circulation. What is

actually the goal of Swami`s Bhaktivedanta

Book Trust? How much have it earned and how

    the proceeds are spent?

When Swami was dying, why were there nobody

discussing with him about the pastimes with

Radha-Krishna? Why was Swami focusing on his

mind Krishna-Balarama prior to his departure?

And why did the children of Swami not grant

him his last wish of going out to visit the

different temples in Vrndavan riding on a

cart? And lastly, why is Swami antagonistic

to doctors practicing the art of modern

medicine? Is it because Swami Prabhupad had

    not found one - a pure-devotee? Because I

believe Swami Prabhupad would have lived

longer if there was one on his bed side who

could treat him the way he wanted it to be.

How I wish I was on Swami`s bedside because

maybe I could discuss to him about his

heart problem as it is, as well as telling

him about this plan of translating his books

into its(Visayan)local version so that our

people could understand the science of

    Krishna.

  16. There are at least 60 atmaramas described by Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to

Prakasananda. All of which are eligible for liberation through the process of

sravanam kirtanam visnoh. Or chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra. There`s

no other way to cleanse the mind from the contamination maya has done to it but

to continue singing the glories of Krishna and His pastimes with the gopis and

His conjugal relationship with Srimati Radharani. That way, one always sees Krishna

    within his heart and mind.

  17. I have actually suggested this idea of

translating Swami`s books to its local

versions to Viraja Mrdanga( Sounds of the

Printing Press ) when I paid a visit to

    the Radha-Damodara temple in Basak,

    Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines, whose

care taker, Bharata dasa, was personally

present when I submitted the idea, with my

humble obeisances, to the Guru when he

conducted a seminar/lecture to the devotees

in the temple on the Bhagavad-gita. It was

rather a surprise visit since I didn`t know

Guru Mrdanga was there. My purpose in visi-

ting the temple was causeless when it

dawned on me this irresistible feeling of

going to the temple, bringing with me a book

written by Rene Descartes and a copy of

a web site I designed which I wanted to show

    Bharata dasa.

When they gave me the opportunity to have

a brief moment with Viraja Mrdanga and

telling him who I was and the purpose of my

visit( showing him a copy of the web site:

www.mateo.bizland.com ), the Guru then asked

me what I really had in mind. All of the

sudden, this idea of translating Swami`s

books to its local version(Visayan) came

upon me and spoke, as if I was in samadhi,

to him as if I had already had this in my

    mind before the visit.

After revealing to the Guru my idea, he

immediately told Bharata dasa to coordinate

with me, and without delay come up with a

local version of, say Nectar of Instructions,

and once written be reviewed or edited by

    an authority.

Sadly, I wasn`t able to get in touch again

with Bharata dasa because of my work as

a government physician in one of the dis-

trict hospitals here in the province.

Besides I was busy posting pieces of my

    mind at www.iskcondc.com`s message boards,

which I regularly do after they allowed me

to visit their web site on December 1999.

I have friends in the media who are expert

on the field of journalism, who are Visa-

yan natives good in speaking and writing

Visaya. With their assistance, I could

start immediately the translations only if

you provide this wretched soul the logis-

tics required to start it. Of course, with

    Bharata dasa`s close supervision.

    I`m not a con-man or something. It`s just

    because I believe A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami`s

mission points towards our direction. Isn`t

    it?

  18. From the book, Srimad Bhagavatam, I`ve

learned that the Absolute Substance or

Truth is Krishna, the source of all

    created manifestations, Who have expanded

Himself in unlimited forms of energies which

have emanated from His transcendetal body.

These unlimited forms are the living

entities whom in one way or the other are

related to Him, like the biological father

whose sons and daughters are related to

him because they possess his hereditary

    traits or genes.

    Srimad Bhagavatam stresses explicitly upon

the reader the concept of simultaneous

    oneness and difference( acintya bheda-bheda-

tattva) that describes Krishna as the

origin of all creations. Although He is

one with His creations, still, He is all-

together different from them. That in subs-

tance, the Lord`s relatives are always

subordinate to Him no matter how great the

power the living entities have in their

    possessions.

If by chance, through the mercy of Krishna`s

pure devotee, they understand this concept

of simultaneous oneness and difference bet-

ween Krishna and His expansions, they

attain without delay freedom from the

miseries of life, injuries inflicted by the

body and mind, by other living entities

and by acts of nature( Teachings of Lord

    Chaitanya ).

Unfortunately, many of us are not interested

in patiently hearing Srimad Bhagavatam, a

very simple act but hard to implement.

Lord Chaitanya therefore advises His devotee

taking up the course in Bhakti-yoga to

always read Srimad Bhagavatam and should try

to understand each and every verse laid out

in the book, compiled and written by Lord

Vyasadeva. This is the way by which one can

    understand the Vedanta-sutras( Isopanisads,

    Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu, etc.)

On the other hand, Lord Chaitanya advises

the devotee to always chant the Hare Krishna

    maha-mantra: Hare Krishna Hare Krishna

Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare

Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. And in so doing,

according to the Lord, " You will easily

get liberation, eligible to achieve the

highest goal of life, love of Godhead." Or

    more aptly put, Krishna Consciousness.

  19. Aprakrta dasa of www.vedaveda.com call

me Narada dasa. I`m a government physician

    in my material form.

My dear Janardana Prabhu, with my experience,

from the time I passed the Philippine

Medical Board Exams on Dec. 1986, maybe I

could share to you what I`ve learned from

treating diseases. Man, since time began,

have battled it but failed because he never

knew he`s not the body, but an atma

who is part and parcel of Krishna, and

therefore an eternal being. Only in his

ignorance he gets sick with all sorts

of diseases mainly coming from his mind.

Treat the sick mind with Krishna`s medicine

of chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra

and the result would be the gradual healing

of his sick body. There is no cure better

    than this.

  20. Vaisnavas, or teachers of Krishna are very

kind to students of yoga. Even without

being invited, according to Swami Prabhupad,

they will visit from one class to another

just to give them a refresher course on the

science of Krishna consciousness and hence

bailing them out from getting a failing

mark in devotional service by giving them

pointers on how to study the subject with

    little difficulty.

Thus a student of yoga who wants to learn

about the science of God should receive

sincerely the instructions coming from a

Vaisnava who is enriched with Krishna

    consciousness.

Even the Supreme Science Teacher of God

    Himself, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu displayed

to us His unique behavior when He took

aural lessons for ten days from Ramananda

    Raya, a Vaisnava-householder whose status

in life were lower than a brahmana or

sanyasi. Having confessed to His friend,

Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya, of being a mayavadi

sanyasi bereft of knowledge in the science

of Krishna, the latter hence recommended to

Lord Chaitanya to visit Ramananda Raya in

his home in Kabur and learn from

    this Vaisnava-householder the science of

    Krishna consciousness especially on the

    subject of Raharani`s confidential love

    affair with Krishna.

In other words, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu

even if He is Krishna Himself, the Supreme

Teacher of the Science Of God, still, He

took the subordinate role of a student

before Ramananda Raya, a grastha- whose

constitutional position is that of married

    man instead of a preacher.

A sincere student therefore of God doesn`t

care whether his teacher is a brahmana, or

grastha or whatever, as long as his mentor

knows how to deliver to him( student) the

science of Krishna. Indeed, as shown by

    Lord Chaitanya`s example, a householder

like Ramananda Raya should be accepted as

Guru( Teacher of Krishna consciousness ).

Note: Summarized from The Teachings of Lord

    Chaitanya, 1981 Phil. copyright edition,

    p. 315-316 )

  21. " Anyone who knows the science of Krishna

can be a spiritual teacher regardless of

where one came from, " Lord Chaitanya said to

Ramananda Raya, a householder whom the Lord

be-friended during His ten days stay in the

    former`s house while discussing Krishna`s

    madhurya-rasa-lila with Srimati Radharani.
