Hello Marcus,

I'm still at work I can't wait to explore the sites you listed. I'm

currently practicing kundalini yoga with chanting and meditation on

mantra as my daily sadhana. I'm eager to begin incorporating

meditation on the inner sound. It makes sense to me to begin this

practice after my daily chanting.

Marcus, Thanks again for sharing!

Hi everybody, glad to be here! Speaking of the inner sound, can anyone

tell me why the sound changes in quality and volume? I've read that

there are a number of different ones and I'd guess I've noticed about 5

or 6. I've had constant inner sound for a little over a year and

cannot figure out any pattern to the shifts in volume, etc. except that

it is louder when I wake up from sleep. Thanks! Holly

holly,

The different, subtler tones that you are hearing are higher vibratory

rates(not necessarily higher in tone). When we tune into the inner sound, we

initially hear what may be characterized as a droning, humming, or whooshing

noise...in time we begin to hear one or more subtler tones...what is

happening is that when our essence becomes aquainted with a tone, we hear

more refined, yet subtler tones that seem "farther away"...these tones are

not new tones, as we possess the very essence of Spanda, the Divine creative

pulsation...in other words, you are not hearing new tones, your essence is

learning to hear the more subtle tones that have always been there...focus

on these subtler tones...go deeper into them...by doing so, your essence

with match the resonance of the tones, reveaing even more refined tones and

providing you with much grace.

Marcus,

Thank you for mentioning this meditation and your earlier suggestion to

use ear plugs. With more practice, perhaps distractions are less of a

problem. Have you or Holly read anything about hearing bird's singing

(like a woods full of them)? This is too loud to hear any "subtler

sounds far away." It seems funny to hear sounds that are not really

there...what could that be about? This happens fairly often to me.

With love,

Gloria

Hi Gloria. Hope all is well with you. Meditation on the inner sound is a well

known method of meditation and it would be useful to have a discussion on that

here. It is common to many traditions. Perhaps Madhya and Marcus can tell us

more of the role it plays in the Kashmir Shivaism tradition.

Hello,

this was a very intresting subject,

very often (almost every night) when I go to sleep I'm hearing this

"wooshing" sound (it's impossible to describe), and some times I hear

it more like a very high beeping sound in diffirent tones.

And most of the time when I hear the "wooshing" sound I can feel my

astral body rise a bit form the physical body.

I have even waked up one night and been completely paralised and feeling

my astral body floating over my body and heard a very high and clear "woow"

sound repetedly above my head.

Could this sound be the inner sound that you talk about?

Best Regards

Robert

Goria,

The sounds that you are hearing are not externally sounds i.e.,, the

fact that they are internal does not exclude the fact that they are not

real...Grace bestowed upon us by ParamaShiva(the highest reality) occurs

both on a grand scale, suffusing the entire universe--and on a personal

scale...these sounds that you are hearing sound beautiful...the point is not

to question it, but rather to go with it...while we can't know what the

purpose is just yet, rest assured that the purpose in and of itself is

there...remain ever vigilant in this meditation to observe new, subtler

tones or vibrations...the important point to remember is to always go deep

into whatever you are experiencing, and the result, whatever that may be,

will become manifest...I want to express that it is not important that any

new tones be higher in pitch...in fact, a new tone may be any pitch on the

entire sound scale--what must be remembered is that higher vibrational

frequencies are what we are tuning into...if you hear a new, subtle tone or

noise, go into it, bring to the forefront--by doing this you are opening up

to the unceasing, endless, infinate primordial sound of the universe--this

is the spanda principle--Shiva in action, which is none other than his

divine creative will in action-Shakti.

In Truth

Marcus

Deamond,

Yessirree, that is precisely what you are hearing...the inner sound,

when we put our attention on it, draws us deeply within when this is our

intent...intent is a subtler energy of the will or iccha shakti...the sound

can be a vehicle that "carries" us into that state which opens up the

potential to recieve grace...what you are discribing is one of many

experiences that are too numerous to mention hear; experiences that can be

profound...the profoundness of these experiences are directly proportional

to our intent on experiencing them...ShivaShakti does not drag us into

realization, but rather, brings grace into our lives when we make clear our

will through intent...I hope you have continued growth along this path.

Much Light,

Marcus

Flute,

Great to hear from a fellow empath...I responded to an earlier post

with a similar question...Grace works on both a large scale as well as an

individual one...the sound or tone you hear will not be the same as the next

person...we are all at differant level of realization; hence the different

tones...you see, the shabda with its endless sound(s) is allready within--it

is no different than Shiva--it is the sound of the creative pulsation of

Shiva...i.e. when we hear a new tone or tones it is because we are allowing

ourselves to hear them through intent...they were never not there--they are

only waiting to be heard...perhaps a few definitions from the Spanda Karikas

will help:

Spanda--Throb in the motionless Siva which brings about the manifestation,

maintenance, and withdrawal of the universe: Svatantrya Sakti, creative

pulsation.

Sabda-brama--Ultimate reality in the form of cit-vibration

(counciousness-vibration) in which thought and word are identical.

Sabda--Sound, word.

Sabda is the primordial sound of creation--it is the first manifestation of

Shiva in the creation of the matrix of this universe...this is verfied by

virtually every holy text on the planet...even the Bible, which I quote with

some trepidation, says on page one: "In the beginning God said 'Let there Be

Light'"--from previous definitions we see that thought, word, and sound are

of identical energy...consider this; everything is vibration. quantum

particles vibrate, or oscillate at an incredible rate--the is the basis of

quantum mechanics that says subatomic particles take on a distinct location

when observed, this location of which is random to the objective world.

Basically this means they are moving REALLY FAST. Electrons both spin around

the nucleus, and spin on it's axis, another form of wave or

vibration...energy is measured by its wavelength--in part of the spectrum we

have infra-red, the visible color spectrum ( red through violet), then

microwave, x-ray, and gamma ray--all vibratory rates...in fact, matter is

not solid at all( close analysis reveals that there is indeed much space

between the nucleus and electron, as well as between the relative orbit of

the immediately surounding electrons...it is only solid because it(matter)

is of a very low energy, or vibratory rate. Matter is said to have

potential energy..i.e. wood is solid--burn it and you ecite the electrons,

which speed up, resulting in immense heat from friction and BOOM! The wood

goes up into flames as it releases its potential energy. This has been a

very windy way to describe to you the basic construct of the

universe...everything from a gross level down to a sub-atomic level is

moving, pulsing, throbbing, contracting, expanding, speeding up, slowing

down,--vibrating. Sound is of the essence of this reality..show me a place

in this universe that has no vibration movement, or some other aspect

related to sound...there is no such place...if there is a place with no

sound, it only because none is being made...besides this fact, there is

vibration going on, if only on the subatomic level everywhere, at all times.

This is Spanda, the divine creative pulsation.

Much Light

Marcus

Each of us tune into the subtle differences within and

without by using a different sense. Yours appears to be

hearing- Clairaudient, Mine is touch - empathic.. many

others are visual - clairvoyant.. taste and smell are in
