May I ask please for help with yet another vocabulary word? The

word is spelled 'sripithe' with an accent mark over the 's' and a

line over each 'i' and a dot under the 't'. I couldn't find

anything relating to it in the online dictionary. I tried the

Sanskrit and then I tried the ol' English-word-guess-and-check.

Thanks for all your help! --Karen

Dear Karen,

Just curious if the word is 'sripate' instead of 'sripithe' , with

the accent over s and NO dot under the t. Can you also give the

context - the text and verse?

Sri - indicates - Lakshmi.

Pate- husband of .

So Sripate - husband of Lakshmi - ie - Vishnu.

Now 'pita' (not to be confused with the bread :-) ) means 'father' -

this doesnt have a dot under the t or a h following it.

I am not sure what pitha (and consequently pithe) with the dot

under t means - does anybody in the group know ?

Jai Maa

Latha
