spiritual rebirths

namaste, many years ago at a womens retreat for wiccans, i had a rebirth, it was

very powerful and very life changing, i even changed my name!

 

this woman was not there in that "capacity" she just began to talk to me and we

just sort of bonded and she told me she had done the "rebirthing" for other

women when they felt the time was right, i wasn't sure, i thought about it for a

while, then some things happened that weekend that made me really begin to think

and the following retreat, we used to go about every 6 weeks or so, she was

there again, this time we did the ritual, it was so powerful, i still have some

very vivid memories, and some of it is quite a blurr! but i can tell you that i

was reborn that day, i can still conjure up those feelings, i can still hear the

goddess speak to me. as i said, i even changed my name to reflect the change

within my spirit.

 

i have done some reading on the jewish mystic path, it didn't really speak to me

but i tried. i did learn some hebrew words which my priestess taught us, and i

must admit, they are very powerful words. but the path itself was not for me.

Hi Tesa!

It's nice to see a Wiccan here! I like diversity.

Sounds like you had a really powerful rebirthing experience.

 

I've kept all of my old Wiccan altar things. (Wicca is really big in

New England and when I was living there I got into it.) I remember

the invocation to the Great Mother as being really beautiful (I think

Doreen Valiente wrote that Aleister Crowley had written it, but

Gerald Gardiner appropriated it for himself.) It's beautiful & moving

whoever wrote it originally.

 

It's been a while (some years) since I've done any Wiccan rituals,

but they do work. I remember the first time I did a Wiccan ritual --

the room was enveloped in this wonderful, warm loving enery.

I interpreted this "presence" to be the Great Mother. Whatever it was

it was loving & good.

 

The Kabbalah is very complex & cerebral. Mystical Jewish scholars!

 

Do you belong to a coven? What brought you to Devi Mandir?

greetings, yes i'm in a coven, i'm a third degree within the isian trad., but

when you get your 3rd degree, you can do what you want, so even thou i'm isian

by "birth" my coven is very ecletic (sp), there's me and my hindu stidies, my

"maiden" is also a buddhist, my husband is asatru (viking) we have a native

american, and two celtic witches. talk about a stew pot!!!

 

our coven has been together for ever!

 

i am still wiccan at heart, but when i started yoga, it really opened up new

doors, i began to read here and there, my buddhist friend gave me some books,

she was born in india(lucky!!) and it just started from there.

 

i have been on several "groups" i was having a hard time finding one that was

actually about hinduism and not about islam bashing!! i'm glad i found you

guys!!!

 

i was looking for a new and i found devi mandir.

i have studied hindiusm for apx. 4 years. have an on line friend in dubai who is

tutoring me in some chants and some things. he is great.

 

i got into alot of trouble on another list because i made the comment that "all

the gods are but one". boy, you would have thought i said your mom wears army

boots!haha

 

needless to say i left that group after a little flame out about "open your

minds!!"

anyhoo, it's really nice to get to know you.

 

i'm in texas, have been here all my life. will probably die here unless i can

get to benares.haha

It's interesting that you believe Muhammad was a religious despot and

murderer. I watched PBS documentary on the history of Islam and

according to them, the whole issue of jihad, and all of the fighting

that went on in the early years was because the cults that prevailed

in the region at the time were doing exactly what you accuse Muhammad

of -- killing those who didn't follow their beliefs.

Muhammad fought for the freedom to practice as he believed God

revealed it to him. When his Islamic government was founded, he

insured that the preexisting Jews and Christians were allowed to

practice their beliefs in peace, without interference.

This, of course, is based on a single documentary, so it's possible

it's not true, but I think it is. Fundamentalism is a cancer that can

infect the most sublime spiritual revelations. It is born of ignorance

founded in egotism.

Islamic fundamentalism is doing now, what Christian fundamentalism did

in the middle ages. Thank God for the rise of secular government. Our

age is just not fit for theocracy of any degree. Like a bad apple, it

looks beautiful and nourishing on the outside, but is soon filled with

rot from within.

thanks, nice to meet you too, i remember where i was and what i was doing the

day stevie died.

 

my ex sister-in-law grew up with him sleeping on her couch!!

 

her father owns a very old "bar' in austin, and when stevie was just getting

started and had no place to go, uncle charlie took him in.

 

she has some cool stories!

 

he is one of the people i'm sorry i never got to see live. she says he used to

sing in the shower at her house, and she would call her friends on the phone,

and hold it in the door so they could here him. i could go on and on.

 

anyhoo, re: islam, yea, i have my doubts about anyone, anything, anytime,

killing in the name of their religion, can you say spanish inquisition???????

 

hope all is well, will be busy over the next few weeks, as we plan our samhain

ritual, and we have a camping trip comming the first weekend in november.
