mystik 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2006 Ok so I am really confused about the accuracy of some Hindu scriptures floating around. For example, the Mahabharata, The Bhagavad Gita and the Puranas. I heard they are not authentic. I want to know where I can get the real copy of the Mahabaratha (Jaya) and the Puranas. I already ordered the Gita, as it was. Thanks. Guest guest Report post Posted March 8, 2006 Prabhupadas translations are good indeed but are definitely biased. The whole indea gets based on the 500 year Chaitanya Gaudiya Vaishnavism. He sums up all yoga momansa etc as KC ! That is the strong sampradayic imfluence you will always find in alll of his books and translations. The real Vedic sadhna methods were not all about beating symbols and dancing!! The proper mantra sadhnas are also different. the main thing about acuracy is does the translator have the skills to do such works? there are many versions of the geeta that you can find most are poor from non-secular POV AC swami prabupadas translations are noted as the best even if you ignore the perports. from all i understand his are the most accurate and unbiased , that is what i have been told by people in my religion dept at my collage.
