just make sure Krishna personally asks you for such things. otherwise you will be cheating not only others, but yourself as well.

Yes we may be crawling like a bunch of snakes if we sacrifice the Truth. It's the only leg left!

 

Krsnas' lies can save the world, but ours can damn it.

Be of upstanding character and try to always tell the Truth.

Sree Krishna already destined the death of Dronacharya like that and so what appears as a lie to us, or other humans is not for Him as Lord of everything. Its also for common to learn the lesson that howmuch ever one may be devoted or learned, if that person keeps quiet when adharma is happening, he may face the same adharma at a later period as a punishment from God. Dronacharya was also one among the other learned people who was keeping mum when Draupathi was insulted in the crowd of men. So in my personal opinion, I always feel that such kind of men who keeps mum for their selfish reasons deserves that kind of punishment. Its diffficult to understand Krishna leela, but once understood, we will know that every little action of His has its inner meaning that is even applicable for us today in kali yuga.
