we are eternal servants of sri krsna bhagavan, so our place is in the spiritual world serving him in eternal bliss

the system, as bhagavad gita says, is to surrender to an uttama adhikari vaishnava spiritual master to take initiation, siksa and advices on sadhana

our main sadhana is to chant everyday a prescribed (by the spiritual master) a number of hare krsna mahamantras in deep concentration:

hare krsna, hare krsna

krsna krsna, hare hare

hare rama, hare rama

rama rama, hare hare

in this way, being the name of god non different by god himself, the presence of sri bhagavan so close to us, around us in the sound vibration of hare krsna mantra, will purify us and it will make us eligible to come back to him in goloka/vaikunta

so to attain salvation accept the shelter of a pure spiritual master and chant regularly, more as you can, the hare krsna mahamantra

One needn't wait for a formal relationship with a particular guru before chanting Hare Krsna. We are to begin from this moment and not stop. You may develop such a personal relationship with a particular guru but in any case chant.

So our first goal is to chant Hare Krsna and become attached to that chanting. And while chanting our goal is to develop pure love for Krsna.

We also have the goal of becoming self realized as spiritsoul. That is held by all spiritualists. But the Vaisnavas see this as preliminary and necessary but not the final goal of pleasing Krsna.

Then other goals may develop from within as to what relationship you will attain with Krsna. That will develop naturally by attaining first pure love for the Lord.

A person training as an Olympic runner will have many goals while training. First to run the mile in under 4 minutes. The in a shorter time yet and like that. But the real goal is the win a gold medal. Pure love of Krsna is the gold medal we can keep before us and strive for.

Lord Caitanya and Ramananda Raya had a celebrated conversation on this topic where the finer points are discussed.

Is it better to concentrate on the concept of Brahman itself

rather than 1000 devas ,heaven ,hell. I hope you get my drift

Let us ignore Vailkuntam and Yamalogam and concentrate on

being Brahman!!!

it is a matter of fact... if hare krsna did not want to be chanted without an uttama guru, only a few people were chanting it

hare krsna prabhu!

--you are right, we have to concentrate our mind on param-brahman sri krsna

Let us ignore Vailkuntam

--vaikunta is param-brahman.. if you ignore vaikunta you remain here

concentrate on being Brahman!!!

--we are already brahman even if we do not concentrate

Can we worship Brahman??

--no.. brahman is undifferentiated, there's no worshipper and worshipers. We can a nd must worship param-brahman, krsna the supreme personality of godhead

He means that the Mantra should be received from a Spiritual Master for maximum effect. Until then one may chant it but it is important to have heard and received it from a Vaisnava devotee.

There are many non-bonafide people claiming to be Acaryas who may recite the mantra too. But what point is it to receive the mantra from such people?

is mukti, according to all Vedic scriptures. Mukti is the highest of the 4 purusharthas. Of course, Iskconites are gonna say bhakti is the 5th when there's no pramaana to that effect.
